The person on duty when I picked it up refused to help me because I was â€œwhiteâ€ (he was a black male). The keys were no place to be found as they weren't using the key lock box. I had a horrible time getting into the facility (locked gate) or leaving. Fortunately, another customer in a storage unit let me in and out with the truck after the black male finally gave me the keys and called me a â€œwhite idiotâ€.John B.

I dropped my vehicle off to receive a $1300 bill. I drove approximately 60 miles. This is insane. I've spoke with the manager Danielle and it's been a week and I am still waiting for this to be resolved. Poor mileage record keeping of this kind is not a way to handle business and no follow up after is even worse.Deborah M.

In the beginning there were flat bed carts to help move items. Several were available in the immediate area. Today, I spend 5-10 minutes hunting for one and usually cannot find one. I was charged $20.00 dollars extra for turning in the truck before the time had expired.. The link that was sent to me had expired and would not let me in to returned the truck.. I was not informed that there was a time limit for the link. I was on hold with your customer service for over 35 minutes waiting to talk to someone . When I told them about my situation and that I had tried uhaul .com to turn the truck in . They still wanted me to try again instead of taking care of them problem . No uhaul .com would not let turn in the truck.. Danielle was AMAZING and sooo helpful. I just moved from IL and when I called uhaul to book everything they screwed up my storage reservation and had me booked at the wrong place. Danielle jumped right in to save the day. I couldn't be more appreciative. The people at the actual facilities are great. But when you call Uhaul to book anything it's usually a mess. I have had non-stop issues since the day I made the reservation until today when I returned the final item. From rude workers/staff, incorrect information, being told they didn't receive equipment after it was returned, scheduling two different locations (in sererate cities)at the same time on the same day for picking up different equipment, being told i couldnt return because they didnt expect it on that day, etc...🙄 is just SOME of what I've had to deal with in the past month since the reservation was made. It has been absolutely ridiculous!! Way too expensive for this type of hassle and amount of stress. While the individual locations performed well, my experience of U-Haul as a corporation was entirely unacceptable. I received a phone call with less than 24 hours notice that the vehicle that I had reserved weeks in advance, a 15 foot truck, was unavailable. Instead, the only vehicle in my entire city was a 26 foot truck, a vehicle that I was entirely uncomfortable with operating in the tight confines of the city I was traveling to. After spending two hours on the phone, I had to spend three additional hours the day before my move driving to another city to acquire a vehicle smaller that the one I reserved. The fact that my reservation was not honored is not acceptable. The moving vehicle is the cornerstone of a major move, and to be told the day beforehand that it was unavailable threw my entire moving plan into chaos.Robert S.

Waited over an hour trying to return the truck, called 24/7 ride share and the Representative did not know who to help me. She had me driving around looking for other gate entrances to the lot because she didn't know the gate code for me to put the vehicle inside the gate.Emanni D.

I had reserved a appliance dolly and two floor dollies. When I arrived to pick up the truck I was informed that location did not have those items or offer those items. There was also no other location near that had them. The response was sorry. Paper work said truck had a 1/4 tank of gas and it was more of a 1/8 tank of gas. Having to move without those tools set me back several hrs. I had to pay movers over time because I was supposed to provide the dollies. To say the least I was disappointed in my pickup experience.William M.

Overall my experience with U haul was very poor. This drop off location was fine and the lady working was very nice but unfortunately the storage unit I had reserved wasn't available. Basically every part of my original reservation was changed and since I was in the middle of moving and didn't know any of this until it happened I just had to take it on the chin. I was basically forced to compromise making things easier for U haul. This experience has shown me that your company cares very little about it customers and the services you're supposed to provide. Storage Unit I reserved wasn’t available. I had reserved a first floor none climate controlled unit only to find out after driving in from out of state that it wasn’t available. I was told they only had a climate controlled unit which was obviously more expensive. The climate controlled unit wasn’t really necessary for me but I really had no choice at that point. I appreciate that they give you the first month free but with all the issues with truck rental followed by the storage unit I reserved being unavailable I wouldn’t recommend u-haul to anyone.Ryan L. | First Impressions

It has nothing to do with the location it has everything to do with whoever does logistics for U-Haul. The location that I rented the truck from, the location that had the address of where I was supposed to go and pick up the truck, was not the correct location. No one from U-Haul called me and let me know that I needed to go 30 minutes away to pick up the truck at a different location. When I arrived at the location that was in the email, Not only was it closed but when I called U-Haul customer service the representative hung up the phone on me. When I finally did get someone else on the phone they let me know that my reservation was actually moved to another location. I asked them why no one would have called me and let me know that and they did not have any answer. The real kicker is that I called the location where my truck was supposed to be on Friday, on Saturday, TWO times to make sure that my truck would be there because this is the second time I have had this happened to me with U-Haul. It would have taken 2 minutes for someone from Uhaul to call, text, email, ANYTHING, to let me know my reservation had been changed.... I asked if I could have some type of discount on the truck because the error in scheduling caused me to have a team of movers sitting at my house for over an hour and a half waiting on me getting paid because I did not have the truck. I was told been a manager would be calling me to discuss this, however no one has called me. In fact if you're reading this now I would love for someone to actually call me so we can discuss how not only did I have to pay full price for the truck, I also had to pay movers for an hour and a half to sit and wait because I was unable to use the truck. When I returned the truck, I told the rep I returned it between 1/4 and 1/8 full, which is how it was picked up. I told her I had purchased $88 of fuel and had gone 270 miles. She said I was all set. Later that day I received a $68 fuel charge. I called and was on hold 30 minutes. No one picked up. I emailed and the GM wrote back she would take care of it. I hope so. Had to drive 20 + minutes to drop-off location, passing numerous other U-Haul facilities. Would be much more convenient to drop off at the nearest location. Also, was charged for 3 gallons of gas. The truck was really old, was scratched and beat up, had a piece of window trim missing and a loose piece of plastic in the door by the window. We were assured it would be fine and the window wouldn't fall out; it didn't fall out so all was well. Expected power windows and locks like a normal vehicle. The single working employee was extremely busy. We could hear another person in the back but they never came out to help nor answer any of the numerous phone calls. We found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful in general. Over the years we limited our interactions because it usually led to disappointment. The African-American woman that helped us that day went above and beyond our expectations. She unhooked the trailer for us so we could unload the Uhaul. She then helped hook it back up after we finished unloading. Then when I asked her to drive the vehicle and trailer to get it out of the facility…she did so willingly. She was so helpful. When I called the 800 number I was told that the parking space I reserved was enough room for 2 trucks. I then called the main office and spoke with a woman and she also confirmed the space was large enough for 2 trucks. When my drivers arrived the parking lot was crowded and difficult to maneuver and the space was barely enough to fit 1 truck. I called the main office again and was told the dimensions are misleading and the lot it too tight and they should really update their information.
