This was the slowest customer service of my life. Took almost 30 minutes to get me the keys to the truck. They couldn't find the keys for the truck then the key wouldn't open the truck and when they finally did get it to open they told us not to lock it so it wouldn't happened again. I rented the truck for 2 hours and still had to have it back by 2 when it took them from 12-12:35 to get me the keys.TAYLORANN W.
Had another great rental, this time a van, which was a lot more than we expected it to be. Had a lot more capacity than we expected as we crammed our daughter's belongings in for a move. While loaded the van had plenty of pick up to keep up with all the fast moving (70-78mph) vehicles on the interstate here in Maryland. Has all the latest features like a back up camera, vibration warning system when veering off course, etc. Really enjoyed driving it. Thanks! My only hitch was the website-based check-in which confused me at one page where it seemed to be trying to tell me the wordlock combo but there was no code showing. Finally I realized the combo shows up a few pages later, and I was able to get the key code. Whew!George T.

Survey only asks about location. UHaul should setup to score itself or corporate. Was prompted to create an account online, enter credit, ID contract terms and at the location had to do all this again at the POS. On top of that the terminal and staffs computer kept having to start over and credit card terminal kept failing. I had this same experience renting in the past. Also happended to other customers forming queue. Invest more in UX and value stream efficiencies or a uber/turo disrupter will reach the market UX better than you.Brian P.

I wasn't happy about the fact that I got the truck with less than a quarter tank of gas in it and ran out of gas and had to walk a mile with a gas can when it ran out before I even got to the other side of Baltimore you. That was a waste of an hour and a half especially when I had six people waiting on me to help load up a five bedroom house and I was in an hour and a half late. You should always have your trucks filled completely when you rent them out instead of making your customers have to stop and get gas before the evening get where they're going. Pretty sure I'm going to rent a truck the next time from someone else. I don't think anyone appreciates running out of gas 20 miles from the U-Haul facility before they even get to the destination plus I'm pretty sure your trust should get more than 5 miles to the gallon. Pretty sure that they need tune-ups but this is not anything to do with the local workers who were very diligent even know they only had one person working the counter on a Saturday morning. That is more of a management problem of not scheduling enough people to handle the demand. Everyone there was very nice and polite and had to apologize a dozen times because of a line 10 people long. I showed up exactly at 10 a.m. when I was supposed to pick up my truck and I had to wait 20 minutes to get to the counter. So again it's not the employees it's the management that is trying to save money by not scheduling enough people to work on a Saturday which as you know it is the busiest day for moving as that's when people tend to move on the weekends since they work during the week so yes how about reimbursing me the $35 an hour I make on my job times an hour and a half that I wasted carrying a gas can down the highway at 11 a.m. on a Saturday again the employees were four lights and apologized for being short-handed but when you're shorthanded a manager should step up and start doing the job of a cashier or truck sweeper or whatever needs to be done and not just sit back and say oh well we are short-handed today. When I moved in I paid for the 24/7 access hours. There was no light hanging up in the back area where my storage locker was located. I could barely see what was in my storage locker during the day and couldn't see anything at night. The ceiling broke apart over my locker a month into my storage and ruined half of the items in my storage locker. I was partially replaced a couple months later but it was a patch job. Rat's got into my locker and defecated everywhere (There was nothing edible in my locker but I believe the locker next to me had something in it). The solution to all of this was somebody throwing a tarp, bucket and ladder over the top of my locker. I am absolutely disgusted with my experience at this facility. I paid for a locker that was not serviceable and the result was half of my property getting covered in rat poop, dust and ceiling debris. I emailed the manager about this (And got no response). I also confronted employees and him in person but nothing was immediately done to help me. None of the employees/the manager were rude but nothing was done to help me. Am I a customer or is uhaul just collecting my money every month for a service that I am no be rendered!!!!dallas B. | Overall Experience
The truck that I rented had a check engine light on. The directions to retrieve the key for the truck are not clear and cut. I used the mobile app to pick a truck up, it told me the key would be in a lock box (did not say the lock box was located on the wall of the building) Told me I would get a code to open the lock box, that did not happen. Ultimately I had to go inside to complete my experience because the key wound up being inside the building anyway. All in all provide more clear instructions as to where the "lockbox" is located, and actually have the key inside of the lock box would have saved me 30mins of time. Then when we dropped the truck off there is no box to return the key ( Had to go inside again)Renaldo H.

The vehicle was clean but it was exceptionally hard to turn the key in the ignition. Overall the vehicle looked like it was on its last mile as it was beat up. I let the guy know about the ignition when I turned it in and he agreed. He said they would need to fix it. The staff was very polite and helpful though. NOTHING FOR IMPROVEMENT IN MY OPINION. Continue to do what you're doing. The staff were attentive, professional, courteous, timely and thoroughly informative from my arrival to departure. This was my first experience with a rental here and it was EXCEPTIONAL. The return process was the easiest EVER!!!! The gentleman who actually gave me the keys and accepted the vehicle upon my return was ALL ABOUT BUSINESS and ensuring I was satisfied. I appreciate efficiency of the entire process. I am no longer going to use uhaul. I drove the vehicle for 8 miles and was charged for 5 gallons of gas. The vehicle was never left idling consuming gas and I can not imagine it consumes 1 gallon of gas for every 1.5 miles. Further more, I was never told there was a $30 fuel charge. Since you asked, I'll tell you. Your employees are very friendly and helpful. They are fantastic. But the unit stinks and I felt gross whenever I went in there. That may just be the way it is everywhere, but I'll never want to put my belongings in storage again. The first time I went to retrieve my things, there was a glue trap right in front of the door with a wriggling mouse stuck in the glue, which I then had to dispose of myself, and I couldn't even locate a garbage can, so I had to carry it downstairs in the elevator to the bathroom where I knew there was a garbage can. Maybe that's just the way it has to be, and I'll just never use self-storage again. We loved the customer service part and for the most part they were accommodating and helpful but the storage facility itself was a bit old, infested with mice and I believe rats too! We had a lot of our cloth furniture bit through. Mattresses and couches were destroyed. Not to mention how unsanitary that is to have nice chewing your mattress and relieving themselves on there as well! My “like new” king mattress is now trash. Thank God I got the insurance!!!! The facility hours are fine, they’re open during prime hours of the day. Although, they advertise 24-hour access to your things, but in my experience even the after-hours access door locks up at 10pm; therefore, making your access code useless. Another big issue my wife and I experienced was mice/rats. It is advertised that your stuff is safe from chemical treatments that the facility has done to "maintain" their pest problem. Out of one week of going to my unit to move our belongings to our new home, three of those days in a row I saw multiple mice run from unit to unit on the third floor. Now, I’m in the United States Army, I’ve dealt with much worse conditions before, but if you’re going to advertise you are managing your pest problems, I expect them to be managed better than what I experienced. Because of this facility, my wife and I had to disinfect every single item in our unit and throw many things away. This facility also almost ruined our $2000 bed. Again, some staff were very friendly and helpful, but the facility itself needs to be better maintained. It was a nice secure place for our belongings for the two and a half weeks it was there, but never again will I come to this place, or recommend it to anyone else.
