Reserved a 10x15x10 unit and when I went to get it I was told it was no longer available. I was then given a 10x10x10 unit. Once I was charged, I realized that it was was inside and the unit that was given to me was not there. So I ended up having to get a bigger unit. When we arrived to pick up the trailer we had to wait for it to be checked in from the previous day's drop off; When we arrived to return the trailer-early-we followed the directions to to equipment return, went in to check out where we told we would receive an final invoice via email. We sat in our vehicle waiting for instructions on where to park the trailer, but no one came out to direct us. Then, a truck pulled in behind us for return check-in. An employee came out and we thought she would direct us to a return location, but she started checking in the truck that came in behind us!!! We finally just found a place to park the damn trailer on our own and offloaded on our own! If you can't afford to adequately staff the location you should reduce the number of rentals you reserve. I still haven't received a final contract via email.Lori B.

I was contacted by an employee for the reservation I was doing online at the shepherd location in Houston, tx. She told me her location did not have what I needed so she sent me to the one on 34th st in Houston, tx and they did not even have the 20ft truck or the dolly we needed even though I was told they would have all of the stuff. UHaul website said they were closed on Sunday so I dropped the keys in the drop box then noticed the garage door was up. I went inside - they said they would check my truck in within 5-10 minutes. Well over 24 hours later truck was not checked in and I was charged a late fee. By the way, they had already re-rented the truck. They finally reversed the charges after many calls to regional offices and many hours on hold with this location.Ronald P.

Overall I was happy with the equipment and the people I met at the two locations. However, the confusion about the trailer drop off was a real head scratcher. That it took three 30 minute calls for someone to finally provide drop off details for the trailer that I picked up for you in Herndon, VA was troubling. U-Haul owns this space. Renting the truck was a breeze. Agent was very professional and thorough. Returning the truck however was horrible. I stood in line waiting for about 30 mins in an empty store. Both agents were outside while customers were inside waiting. 1 customer left because she was waiting in line long before I arrived. The first agent came in and assisted the man in line before me but didn't even apologize for the wait. The other agent came in and didn't greet or apologize either. It appears he came in to escape the sun for a few mins and didn't offer to help me or even acknowledge the other customers. When I noticed he was heading back out I mentioned that I've been in line for 30 mins to return a truck and I need to be helped. He said oh, you can just drop the key off right there and then he exited. Bad customer service 0 out of 5 stars!MARA S.

Through no fault of their own UHaul had to switch my reservation to a different location (stolen truck), which then had to switch the truck reservation a second time (previous customer didn't return keys). Your system was down so a pick up process that should have taken 10 minutes took me over an hour. When i was finally given keys to the truck, i was told the gas tank would be half full. It was on empty, and i had to put gas in it before getting to my destination less than 10 miles away, otherwise i would have run out of gas. This was my second place to be directed after I went to my reservation and told they did not have a trailer for me. I then went to the second place I had been directed and waited there almost 2 hours. The manager was great but this still put me back 2 hours.MARK M.
I made a reservation for a 10 inch truck and a dolly on a Saturday morning. There was a long line and the staff was clearly overwhelmed. They don't have a dolly which was a HUGE inconvenience for my move. I wasn't the only one however, because it appears that nobody gets a dolly that day! I hate leaving poor review because the staff was hardworking and there's only so much they can do. I made a reservation for a 9-foot van, but there was no 9-foot van available when I got there. So I was FORCED to rent a 10-foot truck which cost more per mile. So next time I need to rent something and make sure it is available, I will need to go somewhere else. So what is the point of the reservation if you do not honor the reservation. Door was locked when I arrived at 1:15pm Sunday afternoon. There was a women knocking on the door saying she was unhappy with a male employee inside. A female employee finally unlocked the door so we could speak to her but she would not check in our 5x8 rental as she was too scared to come outside. They said the police were called but I unhitched the trailer & left as I didn't want to be involved with the situation. The woman outside the store seemed polite as she told me she too was waiting for the police as well. I am not sure my rental was ever checked in because I called about 5 times after we left until closing time at 5pm & no one ever answered. This was my 2nd time at this location in one week but I will never go back. Very disappointing.RODNEY H.

I arrived with a reservation for a climate controlled unit and it was over 90° in my unit. Had to change units but the staff wasn’t very motivated to change it until I continually complained. This was a Sunday and a manger with the authority to do so was not on site. I was moved finally that same day. Since then, I have been contacted twice stating they didn’t know which unit was mine. First time, we corrected the issue then a week later I was asked again because they lost the paperwork that I drove up there to fill out. Worst service possible. Had to find someone to try to help after waiting 20 minutes. Then, had to help him get the trailer unloaded as he was unable to do it by himself. He refused to give me a receipt on the spot and said he would email it to me "in about 15 minutes". Nope, it was the next morning. AND THEN, it wasn't even checked in until nearly 18 hours later. I've used this site a number of times and will continue to do so, however back the 10' panel van I rented yesterday smelled like it had been hauling fish - just awful! I only needed it for a few hours for hard goods, but if I'd been hauling furniture I couldn't have used it. Truck smelled like exhaust when cracked on and then the odor was masked by spraying Fabuloso on it. DANGEROUS! To ask a client to breathe exhaust masked by a cleaner is dangerous! I reserved the unit online. When I arrived, the staff did not know what was available or where the unit was located. I spent almost an hour (and $50 for hired Labor) waiting for my unit. When it was finally handed over, it was on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator in the facility. Large heavy items would have to be moved in the staircase which would be extremely difficult. I’ve had a problem with my door code but the manager yesterday cleared that up over the phone. My biggest concern there now is the fact that the lighting is not working at night so it’s very very dark and unsafe. I spoke with facility yesterday and they told me that it was a problem that stemmed from the ice storm but he’s working to get that fixed waiting on the electrician but I explain to him that is very dangerous and he said he would get on it right away again. The gentleman Nigel Hilliard was fantastic! He helped me get a better unit because I found out the original storage unit I booked online was upstairs and he had no elevator so Nigel Hilliard found me a ground unit outside to help because I did not have help unloading my truck.
