I was late on a payment after having payed early for all the months prior. I made arrangements with a person at the head office as well as one of the people from the location i was utilizing as to when I would make the payment in full. I was then harassed multiple times a day with phone calls and an email threatening to put a lien on the unit. I also received a letter in the mail saying i needed to make the payment. I was not “hiding” or refusing to make the payment and was told the arrangements were satisfactory. I was then locked out of my storage unit until I payed the amount in full. I spoke with a lady that works at the location this occurred at and even she said that this was not acceptable behaviour from u-haul. U-Haul has made moving an absolute nightmare. We ordered 4 boxes for one month. We basically got 2 boxes at a time for one week. What they don't tell you is that the boxes are attached to trailers that you don't rent, so even if you get the boxes you ordered, you are at the scheduling whim of the trailers. We have gotten phone calls nearly every day wanting the trailers. But our stuff is on there! So, they keep taking our stuff. After talking to Head Office is was explained to us that they were supposed to use a forklift to place the boxes on the driveway and not keep them on a trailer. Initially delivered two boxes. Had to fill those as they needed the trailer. Took those away and brought the other two. Filled those and took them to the new house. They phoned again needing the trailer on the day before we had scheduled people to empty them. Insisted on taking our 2 boxes the day before the move. Did not give us another option. Refused to work with us. The GM talked over us and just repeats what he wants until he gets it. Pawned me off on the transit manager who was supposed to call within 15 mins. Never got the call and had to call them. As soon as the woman on the phone saw which account this related to her demeaner drastically changed. One word answers and she hung up on us. Extremely rude and unprofessional. When picking up the trailers the day before our move the GM was incredibly rude to both my partner and I. He banged on our door VERY loudly and just walked away. Wouldn't talk to my partner. Just pointed at our car that I guess he wanted moved yet again. They also broke the neighbours fence when placing the original trailer at new place. When we mentioned this the GM could not have cared less. Told us the neighbour would have to file a complaint. No apology. Nothing. Called to complain about the behavior of the GM and the second person we talked to was very rude as well and insisted that they talk to me as they refused to talk to my partner. She ended up hanging up on us. Very professional. We had to constantly shift our plans around to suit their trailer schedule. We were never given an option. They would just show up and take our stuff without a care in the world as to how it would affect our move. When we insisted that they return our stuff on moving day they just gave us a string of excuses and hung up on us AGAIN. We never even came close to getting what we paid for. There has been no offer to compensate us for their schedule extending our move. Quite the opposite, they hounded us for $13 we apparently owed them. I'm a 46 year old professional and I have never in my 46 years on this planet been treated with such a lack of respect. The GM's arrogant and flippant attitude was stunning to both myself and my partner. This was single handedly the most negative moving experience I have ever encountered. I would avoid this location at all costs and certainly do not use their box service. We will be seeking compensation for all of the above but I highly doubt anything will come of it but more hang ups.Stephen A.

There has to be some sort of consistency regarding the cleaning required at the time of returning the vehicle. I was told the vehicle had â€œa lotâ€ of dirt in the back and needed to be swept. I had already swept the back of the van out twice, but she insisted. When I asked where there was a broom for me to sweep again, she directed me to a trolley which had no broom. There was a big truck delivering supplies, she told me to park â€˜up there' and when I did the driver told me I was in the way, and so I had to move again. It was just a big stress to return the vehicle, there were instructions to drop the keys in a drop box, which I could not find, and there was nobody in the office. This was all pretty disappointing, I have had a storage locker on the property for 4 years now, and I will be moving my business as soon as I can. This is the 2nd bad interaction I have had in this property in the last 6 months.MAUREEN T.
Access code at the gate worked but when I went to my locker hallway and opened the main door the alarm went off with no way to stop it. The unit didn't have a lock inside as promised by my online purchase and the unit itself has what feels like a rotted wooden door and no lighting inside the building to see in the unit. There was confusion with our reservation at first, the agent working at the front desk said he did not have a unit reserved for us, even though we had the confirmation, and tried to sell us a bigger unit. 160 after you guys cancelled my first Uhaul storage unit without giving me any reason at all then, when I called and explain I was told my new unit it was in hazelwood abbotsford and the lady booked it for me in the us in Bellingham. Then I went to hazelwood and found this out, so I asked what he has available the guy tells me to go see the unit myself did not attempt to come but drew a map, and it was so unsecured looking and I obviously didn't understand him and he made no attempt to try to help me understand. I have one month free since renting a 20 footer, but will be charged 160 for an ugly little narrow and long unit, same space but different shape as a wide unit. Uhaul is obviously a greedy company. I should have been charged less and I cant wait to move my stuff into a cheaper place. With better service. I let the guy know my frustration and so did my friend who was helping me, a single mother of an 8month old and I am pregnant. The staff are excellent, always smiling and ready to lend a hand. The facility is secure and safe but the outdoor storage units should use laser lights in case they are concerned about fire hazards why they removed the original lighting fixtures from last year because it was hard to find things in the storage unit despite having a flashlight on hand. The policies are deplorable however. There should be an automatic refund for early move outs as a courtesy. *Lastly, your survey should separate the question about your facility being well lit and secure. Couldn't extend my rental online, had to call a 1-800 number to do it. Lady was rude to me over the phone. Was told I had the trailer until 5pm, so I returned it at 4:50, pulled out and got on the highway and at 5:01 my credit card was charged $10 as a late charge. The guy working the counter was awesome. I was "that guy". Showed up with 5 min to spare, he had customers so didn't get to me till after closing. Without batting a eye he gave me top notch service, I doubt I could say I'd do the same. He was also there for drop and as I was waiting for the lady at the desk he appeared ready to help get me moving along quickly again. The lady at the desk was kind as well. The automated check in is frustrating, annoying, complicated and a huge time waste. When the clerk has to walk you through all of steps, has a preprinted sheet with the steps, and it is still not right, I would assume the process is flawed and needs to be changed.Raymond F.

The 'self serve use your phone' is a royal pain in the A _ _! To use it you HAVE TO have a smart phone, you HAVE TO have data or your stuck attempting everything on the Uhaul WiFi and therefore HAVE TO move the vehicle close to the building and it might work if you're lucky. The vehicles are parked at the end of storage unit rows which are often blocked by people with their vehicles accessing their storage. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! NEVER AGAIN!!!John SCOTT C.

There is a lengthy application to open an account online, you can't rent from the reception counter. We were accidently given the wrong key which was NOT for the van we were assigned. Therefore the kilometer reading showed over 200 km for a 2 hour rental. The receptionist managed to straighten it out. It was only 28 km. Overall, despite the friendly receptionist, the procedure was stressful and very time consuming.Janice O.
It would be nice to have a place within the compound to park one's vehicle during the term of the truck rental. I had trouble completing the online check-in. When taking photos of drivers license, the indicator just kept spinning and failed to upload. I had to have the process completed at the counter.
