The fact that you can call and book to rent equipment from this company in advance and have them tell you it’s not guaranteed that you will be able to pick up said equipment has added more than necessary stress to and already stressful situation If I am calling in advance to book equipment it should be guaranteed to be there the day that I need it. I should not be getting a call a few days before I move on whether I can pick up my stuff or not.

I have been dealing with the Abbotsford (Hazelwood Ave.) location now for years and have always been quite satisfied with the service I've received. This past weekend I needed to rent a van for a short move and had to use the U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 process to reserve and then obtain a vehicle. I was NOT impressed with the ponderous and very "repetitive" and NON-USER FRIENDLY process I had to navigate in order to simply 'get' the vehicle I had already 'reserved' "on-line" a few days prior to pick up. When I arrived at my prescribed time I was shocked to discover much of the information I'd already provided now required me to provide this information AGAIN...and now using my cellphone! Thank God for the staff (Sabrina I believe her name was) who understood my frustration and helped me navigate the final check-out process (taking pictures of my Driver's License etc.) ***This type of information SHOULD have been able to be done PRIOR to arrival at the pick-up location which would have made it much more efficient for the customer and the staff at the location! The U-Haul staff should have been able to simply "verify" this by checking the customers driver's license or proper photo identification! The 'Truck Share 24/7' process as it exists now is both cumbersome, time consuming and frustrating for both customers AND your U-Haul staff who are placed in a difficult position dealing with customers who are very frustrated with the whole ordeal! I would likely go and rent a vehicle from another vendor locally that has a more 'user friendly' and time efficient method of renting a vehicle! AGAIN let me stress this was NOT the fault of your staff! They were VERY HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING and should be commended for working within such a ridiculous rental format! Eliminate the new process of requiring a downloaded Internet UHAUL App to sign out a vehicle. It was gery painful & took too much time. Supposedly a new process as a result of UHAUL having to abide by a new City of Abbotsford Bylaw. This was not a pleasant experience. The employee at the front desk was patient & a Godsend in terms of helping me thru the process & if not for her help, I would have went elsewhere to rent a vehicle.

The price was right but the technology sucks! I would rather call and reserve and have them do the paperwork than having to do it online. The technology for the phone was not the greatest and I found it a long experience. There was one person in front of me and the technology slowed down the process for the employee to complete the paperwork in a timely manner. I waited and got the truck and the whole process took 35 mins. Felt bad for the employee too as the technology and lack of her being able to help us because we had to self check in and she had to point me to my phone to complete it was limiting for her empowerment for customer service and satisfaction. I was also thinking Abbotsford has a lot of older clientele who aren’t so up on using a computer or cell phones and that could cause them to rent vehicles elsewhere so they can just call it in.

My rating of poor is not for the location, but rather for the UHaul experience as a whole. This is the worst run company ever. My reservation was changed three times by UHaul, and all their screw ups will end up costing me a $1,000. My move was delayed, I ran out of time, and I had to put some stuff in storage. I will now have to fly back to MetroVancouver from Saskatoon and find a way to ship the remainder of the stuff. The only compensation UHaul will give is $50. Bad customer service. The only good experience I had was with Cindy and her team at the Hazelwood, Abbotsford location. Thank you to Cindy for doing her best to make a very very horrible experience into a bit of positive. It is only because of Cindy that I would ever consider using UHaul again.

I am so glad that the option to rent the truck in the store by giving credit card and driver license has returned. It took me 10 mins to rent the truck and be on my way. The last time I rented I was told I had to use my cell phone to complete a whole bunch of stuff and have references phone who were all at work and did not answer except one. Took me 45 mins to rent a truck I only needed for 2 hours. I vowed never to rent another uhaul truck but when I was alerted that the in store pickup option had returned I decided to rent one and it was a breeze.
