I've been there the past 2 days and the guy that helped me with my storage (again, I'm really sorry, I can't remember his name) was absolutely fantastic. Originally my storage was on the 3rd floor and he was able to help me get one on the 1st floor so it would be easier to load. He also came over to the units where the motorized door was to make sure the entry card worked so I wouldn't keep getting locked out. Today when I returned the truck, he make the whole process quick and easy plus he was able to help me secure another truck for when I move the storage out. I couldn't be happier with uhaul in Clearwater and Ames. (Also when I called the 1800 number in Clearwater, the customer service lady was great too).

Check the truck over before allowing to be rented. No windshield wiper fluid, winter in IA/MN, unacceptable. Equipment I rented not included in the truck, had to drive be back to the location to get them. Truck had faulty front wheel bearing and was undriveable halfway through my trip. Awful experience. Truck had to be towed, we had to unload and reload a new truck, pickup location for the new new haul was unaware I was coming even though I was assured they would be called.

Fix your app. When I returned the trailer I rented, I tried to return it online using the Uhaul app. I could not get it to work. It wouldn't let me add a picture of the trailer, but when I tried to proceed, it wouldn't let me without posting a picture. If you want people to use the app, make sure it works!

Sure wish there was an option to have a spare tire. 24 hour road assistance means little if you are stranded and need to be somewhere.

Seemed a little understaffed in the office. No one was there when I came in and there was a wait before staff came into the office. I was a bit confused about the green zip tie on the unit door. I was not told that would be there so I did take it off to proceed with loading my unit. Unit was very clean and was as expected.

I absolutely love the new Radial tires that are being placed on the u haul trailers. They outperform the old bias ply tires more then expected. The same trailer tows three times better then it did when it had the old type of tires.

This has been the worst experience of moving my family has ever dealt with! Very unsatisfied with uhauls organization. After having my pickup location changed 3 times and having to drive over an hour from my home (all of this happening with less then 2 hours notice to original pickup time and picking up my trailer over an hour past pickup time). Also was registered and confirmed pickup over a week before desired time. As the pickup location and drop off location were very helpful and understanding the previous locations and the handful of people on uhauls 888 number were no help as well as rude and acted like that wasn't anything they could help with . Little to say I have already purchased a small enclosed trailer for future moving and uhaul will receive zero money from my family again . If there was zero or less star review I would use that. VERY UNSATISFIED. Did I say this was the worst experience I've ever had moving .. will be contacting uhaul monday morning to complain aswell. UNHAPPY

Trailer had patch on top of it with duct tape. Got my couch wet. U-Haul did nothing for me but push me off to third party insurance company. Should have refiunded at least some of my charges. They rented me a damaged trailer

The after hours check in process is not the best. This has nothing to do with this particular UHaul location. I had my location services on (confirmed many times) and it would still not let me proceed. I finally got it by calling customer service and downloading the app, which I feel shouldn't have been necessary. It took WAY longer than it should've.

I had a really good experience overall. My only issue is that, being a solo hauler, I wasn’t always sure that some of my stuff is not going to disappear while I’m moving things to and from storage and can’t attend to it. It is natural for the facility of this kind to attract this type of attention, something to think about I guess.

When I got my storage unit the light was broken, and it was completely dark. I reported it to the lady in the office. 3 weeks later nothing was fixed, additionally, the elevator was broken, and I was not able to move my mattress by myself from the third floor. This was the day I returned to Ames, to move into my new apartment. I went to the office again, asking them for help. Both staff members were very rude ... it was Uhauls reposnobility to assist with this matter. So, I ended up sleeping on the floor. I would have found it appropriate that they would offer me to help me move the mattress in my car. I know things like that happen but this is not fair to me, paying full price for a dark unit while the elevator was broke. It was highly unprofessional from the staff as well.

One elevator & only a handful of carts was not enough on days that multiple people were moving things in/out of the facility. It would be helpful to have multiple elevators & carts for days when the facility is more busy. The sliding door near the elevator also almost always had issues opening.

I had an excellent experience with renting a 5*5 storage unit. The unit was totally secured and clean and the staff was very helpful. Everything went even better than I was expecting. I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants to rent a storage unit.

I would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss possible adjustment in storage unit payment as I only utilized storage unit for (2) days and still charged for (1) full month. The workers here in Ames deserve a raise for the work they were willing to put in even after store hours. I could tell they were under staffed but they held up the entire operation wonderfully. One worker was willing to help me an hour after the store closed so that I didn’t get charged for an extra month of storage when I had moved out.

The staff spent some time activating my card and then when I got to my unit the alarm still went off. I wasn't told how to dismember the alarm or even told about the alarm. You have to re-swipe your card to enter every time which was super annoying if you have a lot of stuff in your car. Storage units were clean.

Waited in line for about an hour to check in. Seemed understaffed for a busy weekend in a college town. There was what appeared to be a homeless persons belongings in our storage unit. Had to wait in line for another half hour to get a different unit. Did not seem like the storage facility was secure as advertised. Feel nervous about keeping my family’s belongings there.

I did have a misunderstanding with the employees.Atthe time I rented the2 units they told me I needed 2 dial locks(since I was using two separate closets), which was fine.I went to our local hardware store & bought 2 locks (spending $18on the 2. I was then called by someone at the store that I had the wrong locks I needed to buy the locks at U-Haul. Since I had already spent the money on 2 locks I did not comply with request, but continued to get called about that. I had insurance on my items & felt my things were secure with my locks. You need to stipulate your locks are the only locks you allow.

I know this is a newer storage unit, but getting 24 hr access figured out ASAP is a must for a happier customer. For anyone with an 8-5 closing at 7pm is unrealistic and inconvenient.

It was impossible to actually talk to the Ames location in person. The location would never answer and I would bounce to a different person somewhere else. I had to drive location twice for questions.
