Avoid dealer locations because Uhaul doesn't have any control over them, they're allowed to charge whatever to your card. I rented my truck through U-Haul Moving & Storage at Uptown (800 28th St N, Birmingham, AL 35203) they ended up sending me to the pick up address above, which turned out to be a deactivated neighborhood dealer location. They said people keep being sent there even though they are not suppose to anymore. The people at the car place were very helpful and accommodating and sorted out my issue even though it wasn't their job. The truck I was given did not have the dolly that I paid for in it to I headed to the Uhaul at uptown and they were very rude to me about it and I still did not receive a dolly in the end. This made moving rather difficult and time consuming. My entire reservation was messed up and it ruined all of my plans, and frankly my entire day. The employees at the 28th St. location were not helpful and have terrible customer service, I will not be returning to that location. ThanksTanner H.
I had a reservation and when I arrived there was no in the office. There was a sign that said â€œout to lunch â€œ I waited almost 2 hours and no one showed up. I called the corporate office and no one could help me. On the spot I had to find another facility to get a smaller trailer which was the only one available. Hire more people! One slow person running the store is not an efficient system. I had 2 people in front of me when I arrived to pick up a truck and it took 30 minutes for me to get out of the store!! It was even worse when I went back to drop off. One lady came back in the store waiting to get keys for another truck because the one they tried to send her out with had all the check lights flashing. She said the attendant told her â€œoh it will be fine.â€ Don't go to this store!JOSEPH L.
My return obligation of the truck was for it to have 1/4 tank of gas otherwise I would be charged upon return. This reasonable and acceptable. After picking up the truck in the morning, I noticed there was less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Effectively I had to pay for the gas I used as well as the gas from the level I had received the truck and the 1/4 tank mark. My fault for not checking before leaving. Fortunately it was not a great expense but an area of improvement for the 1301 Opelika Rd Auburn AL to take into account.RICHARD H.

CLEAN THE VANS between customers. I typically have no issues with this location, but this time the van was filthy, including a cigarette butt and two false nail tips in the passenger door pocket. If they give you a dirty or damaged van, go back in and ask for another. At the very least, take pictures before leaving the lot so you have time-stamped evidence. Do this for external dents without UHAUL stickers on them as well so you don't get charged.Annie C.

I got charged over $600 more than I was supposed to. Supposed to be around 60 to have a ten foot truck for 30 miles and 8 hours. Brought it back and the guy asked me if I want a digital receipt. Woke up this morning to see I had $414.68 charge and another $349.29 pending.ALEXANDER D.

General Manager Megan Cline possesses an amazing personality that made booking and returning vehicles a breeze! The commitment to excellence in cleaning and disinfecting the vehicles while still being able to rent at such a low price keeps me coming back to THIS location for amazing service. We book the vehicles to take care of small day to day tasks such removing furniture and carrying heavier than usual loads. We've used the vehicles for bigger projects like fencing our softball field and buying new metal shelves for our library - while also using for smaller jobs like picking up trash and weeding lawns. I felt the gentleman had very poor customer service. We reserved a 10 ft truck but apparently it broke down and we ended up with a 15 ft truck. We drove nearly 3,000 miles and I was concerned about the extra gas it was going to cost. I booked a 26' truck a week and a half in advance. I noticed that my pickup time was incorrect on my reservation the day before the move. I called to have it corrected to the time a lot that I originally requested. I was then told that the truck was not available and the only location that had a truck was 30 minutes away. I begrudgingly arrived at that location at 8:30 am (my pickup time). No one was there. The hours at the â€œofficeâ€ said that they open at 10am. So I waited. And waited. And waited. 10:40 rolls around and no one is there. Uhaul customer service hung up on me 3 times because they couldn't get in touch with the store owner. I was never rude because I am in customer service as well, so I know it is not their fault. However, the closest thing that they could offer me is a 6'x12' trailer - not a 26' truck, not any truck for that matter. A trailer. Needless to say, it wasted valuable time, money, and stress to my family after dealing with the loss of a family member and needing to relocate the belongings of the deceased.Shelby D.

The 26' truck we rented was a piec e of junk! It would skip and had so much play in the steering wheel that you had to start turning before you turned! If I would had known I was going to pay so much for trash I'd had just went with 2 men and a truck! Never again!ROBERT W.

The truck had a good amount of trash in the trailer part when I picked it up. I have pics if you want to see. The truck was also sitting on empty when I picked it up. I put $50 worth of gas in it and I was charged almost $50 in fuel cost when I turn the truck in. I got that statement yesterday.JAMES P.
I picked up a truck where the floor was cover by a sticky spilled drink along with stale fries and sunflower seed shells and other trash. It was disgusting(there should be an option to provide more pictures on the app to show cleanliness or lack of). Not to mention the fact that the back of the truck had not been swept at all. Also my $50.00 certificate was not upheld even though I had called customer service prior to pickup and the woman I spoke with assured me it would be an made a note on the reservation about it because it was not showing up in the app.Holley H.

I was scammed and overcharged on my debit card a few days after rental without knowledge. Called the store for an explanation and was told I didn't replace the gas. Advised I had the receipt from GrubMart right down the street from the store where I purchased the gas 10 minutes prior to dropping it off. Because I know date and time the store manger at the gas station was not only able to reprint receipt but locate the video of me pulling in and pumping $20 in the truck. Uhaul said I returned it empty and charged me an additional $60 and refused to answer any of my questions. Why was it not mentioned when I returned the truck? Where is the young gentleman I gave the keys to that told me everything was all good? Store rep simply said â€œIt wasn't meâ€. Filing a dispute and will NEVER use this store again. I was not overly impressed with the location. Mostly because I was taken up from a quote of $359 to $402 and then by the time the dozen blankets were added, it was $444. I had to explain that was not possible. I even showed the original quote (which has since been deleted by Uhaul) I was not helped but rather told I could "file a complaint on the website." I would certainly like an explanation of that transaction. A one way from Auburn, AL to Foley, AL......JAMES C.
