Patricia, the agent, was very efficient, helpful and friendly. She took care of the paperwork, explained the charges, and got us on the road quickly and efficiently. Later, when we were loading the trailer, we discovered that the lower part of the locking mechanism was out of alignment by about 3/4 inch. That required us to use a lever (jack handle) to pry the lower 'cog' into place so that the door could be closed and locked. Aside from that, the trailer was clean, in good condition, and easy to tow.

My only complaint is that this is the SECOND time in a row, that i have been kept waiting during 'MOBILE PICKUP'. Its at the 'Awaiting Approval' stage. I was waiting approx 25 mins. Last week same thing happened, but the excellent staff at Pine Street, Bridgeport, CT, booked me in manually. I use U-Haul a lot and this extremely as its caused me to be late for appointments.

The online check-in app took a lot longer than I remembered to process my check-in. The lock on the compartment to retrieve the key would only open when lifted. The instructions said to not pull on it, but said nothing about that the lock would have to be lifted slightly so that absolutely no pressure is on it. The van’s tire pressure was low on three tires and the employee had to remove all hubcaps to check and refill the tires. The hubcaps proved difficult to put back on, resulting in a 30 minute plus delay of me being able to leave.

On our last day, as we were moving out the final items we needed a broom and dust pan. The woman there lent us the broom and dust pan we needed. Was very friendly. She offered to let the office know we were moving out. She then made it a point to find us in the parking lot to convey that the office was aware. It has been over 2 years of service. Our experience was positive since day 1

I initially reserved a Uhaul in Stamford CT and had to drive to another city to pickup the Uhaul. Uhaul needs to stop over reserving Uhauls so I don't get perpetually screwed. It has happened on the last two Uhauls that I have picked up. I doubt I would use Uhaul again. Should have used Penske.

Issues with location sharing to try to return it myself after hours. I followed all the steps was in the lot for 20 min before I gave up and just called home office. Perhaps just have a button that says - YES returned to original pickup location. Might save customers A LOT of time. Otherwise everything else went well.

Most of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful but there was one older woman who kept trying to charge me for extra things and claimed that my discounted reservation wasn't valid, until the other staff corrected her. The whole process should have been much more smooth.

I am waiting to hear back from the manager. The truck was given to me at just shy of 1/4 tank. I was told that if I return it at 1/4 tank they would refund me $8.60. When I picked up the truck - I decided to fill it which cost me $85.76 We dropped it off and the gas tank was between 3/4 & 7/8. They did refund me $8.60 but spoke with Ronald yesterday and he has forward my request of gas refund to a manager. Thank you!

Rates kept increasing. The staff in the office was usually rude and didn't want bothered. For being climate controlled, the area where I had 2 storage lockers was ALWAYS hot and humid. There is a MAJOR rodent problem.

My unit had a rodent issue from a neighbor unit who had been keeping food inside without knowledge of the staff. Almost all of my contents were ruined. The manager at the Pine st location in bridgeport, ct (Ashley Quiles)was empathic, understanding, apologetic and extremely helpful. We relocated from one unit to a different unit with what was remaining. I hope that she is recognized for her outstanding professionalism and dedication to her customers!

I told staff I had big furniture they gave me a small unit I wasn’t able to fit a lot of my belongings in it I called for reservations ahead of time and was put in my daughters name for a truck and storage unit they couldn’t find my name or no# so I had to go rent a truck from Boston ave while my reservations was in my daughters name and # because her name popped up on ur system now I don’t know what to do with half my stuff because the movers are not trying to move me again I had to loose a 65 in tv that broke on the pull down door I’m so upset about this experience but ur staff really needs to stop rushing and get people information correct so this doesn’t happen again and they still haven’t called me to see if they can put my other stuff in and they told me last night they will get back to me today so I gotta find somewhere to put the rest of my stuff!

The staff was not helpful at all. There was only one associate who was helpful and apologetic. I used a moving company that charged almost two hundred dollars an hour and my unit was locked by uhaul and it took 25 minutes to get in touch with the front end staff all while I’m being billed for the move. Very unprofessional and that alone would give me pause in recommending this facility in particular

I needed a smaller unit and the manager at the time told me that there wasn’t any. Meanwhile we walked passed several units that were available. Thus forcing me to accept a larger unit that was oversized and overpriced $212, when late 245$. I now pay $57. Fire her please!

The woman behind the desk was very nice except there was only one person She was it. There was a long line of people waiting to be checked in. How could you have only one person on a holiday weekend? The woman was obviously new and she was having trouble setting up my rental. I had 2 men waiting outside that I was paying and they had to sit in the car and wait. The woman told me all my transactions had to be done through my cell phone via text messages. She was very kind and apologetic so I was not going to complain. She asked me if I had a lock and I told her that I had a combination lock. After the reservation was complete I started to work and we put things in the storage unit. Today I'm on my way back home I said let me run by the store and pick up some things. I found a lock on my door. I asked at the desk they told me I had to use specific u-haul lock So they pad locked my storage space. I couldn't get in. Again there is one woman behind the desk and a long line of people waiting. I guess that's what u-haul does all the money people are spending to rent these spaces and there's only one person to help a long line of people. What I don't understand if everything has to be done via text message if you have a contact number for me and you text me to set up a contract why not text me and tell me that you put a lock on My space? Why do I have to find out when I get there what you dit I have been at this space for 24 hours and I am not happy and I am getting my stuff out of here as soon as I can. If you use text messages to conduct business then you should use text messages to extend customer service.

I have used Uhual storage prior but have not had such a horrible experience such as this location. Some of the staff members have no customer service skills what so ever. They were rude and behaved as if you were bothering them. I went to complain that a mice got into my things and they did nothing to resolve the issue. I certainly would not recommend this location to anyone ever.

There were mouse in the facility. My mattress, sofas and other items were contaminated by mouse poop. I didn’t want to touch those items because of contamination and I gave key to the staff. So they can discard these items. Staff name is Ashley. She told me not to contact the insurance company but they will cover all the damage made to my property but she had stop communicating with me, did not reply to my emails. On top of that they did nothing to remove the damaged property from the storage and keep charging me rent for the damaged property which was in the storage. I had paid them rent from March of 2021 to October of 2021. I want my rent back plus the money for my damaged property.

Whenever I tried to call the local number, 8would reach the automated system of the national U-Haul system. NEVER was I able to get through. I would have at minimum a thirty minute wait time before I would get a live body on the line at it be the answering service of the national answering service, I would ask to patched through to the local pine street, Bridgeport, CT office and I would be again be on a longer looong wait time before giving up.

Rodent infested storage facilities. Had to take stuff out after seeing rodent droppings everywhere in the unit and holes on most of the storage bags. Rodent infestation was so bad that they got into my suits, only after I opened up the bags after already moving that a mouse jumped out and ran under the sink. Now I have to spend extra money to get the mouse out. If I knew the situation was going to be this bad, I would’ve used a different storage.

I am writing to you to express my disappointment with the customer service I experienced while at the UHaul location in Bridgeport, CT. I made a reservation for an 5x8 storage unit online for $104.95/month starting 6/26/21. This reservation was made a week before check in. I arrived on 6/26 to check in, Ashley Quiles was the one behind the desk. The store was busy and she was moving very fast. While waiting in line for over 20 minutes, I witnessed her speak rudely to her coworkers and reprimand them in front of customers for using the bathroom. She was impatient with customers and was barely doing the bare minimum to help. When it was finally my turn, she did not make eye contact and continued to speak extremely quickly. I asked her several times to repeat herself or to clarify what she was saying. When it was time to pay, my total was over $120, so I asked her to break that down, as the reservation I made was $104.95. She rolled her eyes and said that it was tax. When I asked her to clarify why there was over $15 of tax, she said very matter of factly replied that was not true. I explained that the reservation I made was for $104.95, she first said that I made a reservation for the first floor, but there were no units left and I had to go on the second floor which would increase the rate. (she had just given away the last first floor unit to the couple in line in front of me). When I challenged that the reservation I made was not being honored, she got very snippy with me and then told me that the rates had gone up. I asked why I had been able to make a reservation at a lower rate and why that rate is not being honored. She was unable to answer the question and was clearly getting annoyed, so I cut my losses and agreed to the higher rate. I went to access the unit, her directions left much to be desired on how to gain access. Upon leaving, I decided to take the stairs. There was no sign on the door of the stairwell indicating that would be a problem.. When I got to the first floor and tried the door, it was locked. Come to find out, I was locked in the stairwell. I tried calling the office, no answer. I tried banging on the doors to get back into the storage area, no response. I tried all of the doors, but could not get out. Ultimately, I had to use the "Emergency Exit Only" door to get out, after spending 20-30 minutes trying to get out. When I returned in August to collect my belongings, I arrived to find two "Wet Floor" signs in front of the elevator. Assuming that someone had just mopped the floor, I got in, only to find that I could not press the button. I used the intercom to speak with the front desk and asked what was going on with the elevator. I was met with exasperation that I would even ask such a question. She acted like I should have known that Wet Floor signs were equal to a broken elevator. After getting nowhere over the intercom, I went over to the main office to see if I could chat with someone and find another way to get to my unit. I was met by Ashely and her rudeness again. She repeated several times, "Like I told you the elevator is not working." I asked if I could use the stairs, she said they were not accessible, when I asked her to clarify, she was unable. When I explained that the stairwell is perfectly usable, as I had already used it once, but needed someone to open the door, she tried to tell me that there are signs saying its for emergency exit only. That was not the case. (There are no signs, and either those doors should be unlocked or signs should be placed IMMEDIATELY. That stairwell is USAFE and a hazard to all of your customers if you are not going to unlock it.) I asked if there was any kind of estimate of when the elevator would be fixed, Ashley was unable to give me any kind of estimate, and was rude throughout the encounter, treating me like I was dumb.  I called Eagle Elevator, I asked the operator if they were able to give an estimate, she said the call had come in about 30 minutes earlier and estimated the technician would be at the facility within the hour. And within the hour the technician showed up.  When I went to check out of my unit, there were no employees in the store. The woman outside on her smoke break came in to find someone else for me so she could smoke her cigarette. The customer service (or lack thereof) I experienced in working with Ashely was inexcusable. I am in my twenties, I have worked in the service industry. I understand that it is challenging and employees are underpaid. Service employees have one of the most challenging jobs and I acknowledge that. However, a simple apology could go a long way. "I'm sorry, the elevator is not working today. I made a call to the company and they are going to send a technician at their earliest convenience. Unfortunately they did not give me a time estimate, let me call them back and see what I can find out."  As a company, you need to provide your employees with better training.

The staff (owner and mother, I presume) did not appear to care about their customers. They came across as rude and wasted a lot of my time bickering with one another. Two other employees were kind and helpful, but, unfortunately, they were not wearing name tags so I cannot commend them directly. The unit I reserved was not correct, meaning I had to get a different unit that was more expensive, just for that price to increase a month later. Not sure if it was the system or the employee, but my autopay was incorrectly setup and I had to dispute late fees that were wrongly applied. When I finally moved out, most of my items were covered in rat droppings and urine. I will likely have to pay to get my mattress professionally cleaned or throw it out and buy a new one. I further experienced even more issues with the moving truck experience, but will leave that out as this is about the unit itself.

Got a call the night before I was to pick up my pods saying they wouldn’t be available. Had a deadline for a closing date and they didn’t even have a solution when they called. Inconveniently, we had to pick up a truck from one location and pack up everything and then offload it into a facility at a completely different location. Will be calling BBB and pursuing legal action as I am 7 months pregnant and this has caused such stress. Will also be asking for a full refund.

My experience at Bridgeport was satisfactory. What was not satisfactory was my experience at the Wooster Square Uhual in New Haven Connecticut. They have tainted my experience with uhual with thier unprofessionalism. We choose uhual for our 24 hour journey specifically because I could reserve a storage unit. We arrived at the location at 2 with a confirmation number to get access to our storage. unit. When we got thier they told us that they had given our storage unit away because it is first come first serve. They said that reserving a storage unit doesn't actually mean anything. The uhual website just adds the ability to reserve a unit, so you can think you are getting a unit but you have come here first to get it. He said they dont advertise it but you are not actually reserving a unit. This was infuriating especially after a 24 hour trip that took me 3 days. Then they sent me on a wild goose chase with two other uhuals to find a storage unit. The ordeal took 3 hours. I will not recommend uhual to any of the people I know who are moving and if people ask me about uhual i will make sure to tell them thier are better options. I have had an awful experience! I have put in a report with customer service. As a dissatisfied customer I would appreciate a refund or a discount for the inability to full fill what was agreed on when we purchased the uhual on your website. If this is done, I will be satisfied and just assume it was one bad location. Then I can say uhaul will complete with the promise and you should use uhual because they will treat you right.

It was very confusing to get set up into the building. The big double doors didn’t open to be able to pull a couch through for easier access. Apparently you needed a card to have those doors open, but I did move in online and thought it would be a smooth transaction. I moved in after hours because of my work schedule, and I tried to call the after hours number multiple times, where I was not able to reach anyone for maybe a little direction of help. Facility is clean and organized though, so I am happy about that. I just think it could’ve been more signs or directions, something else to guide you on the moving into storage process.

I liked The facility. My only issues were that the sliding doors to enter and exit very confusing. Also it was very difficult to reach anyone on the phone if I had a question. Every time I was in the office I noticed it was only one person on duty and that person had to do everything. So customer service issues For one customer would basically shut down the entire office. My unit had overhead wood columns, we noticed after a year that wood chips were all over the boxes and other items. I arrived on site and followed the instructions to gain access to the building. Went to my unit and found it locked with a small brass lock. Went to office and asked for assistance. Attendant was busy processing truck returns. I said I would try again the next day. Returned to find lock still on unit. Attendant met me at unit and removed the lock. Opened unit to find a 12"+×12"+ vertical support column in the middle of the unit. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the Attendant who said they couldn't do anything. I also requested the round lock that was supposed to be included. Attendant said he would get it and return to the unit. Attendant did not return for 15+ minutes and was outside handling truck returns when I went to find him. I returned to the office after another 10 minutes and he handed me a lock. He said he had to call GM to get access to locks. I asked if he spoke to the GM about the obstruction in my unit and he said No. Summary: The unit is not acceptable and another unit should have been assigned immediately. The customer service was terrible. Besides the waiting, the attendant did not address a significant issue and obvious customer dissatisfaction. The obstruction was not noted on the website or any subsequent communications. I reserved a 5'x10'x10' storage unit. The obstruction reduces the available storage volume and prohibits storage of most wide or long items. I have been waiting for the assignment of a new unit. Please contact me asap to resolve.

The experience was pleasant. Samantha was very friendly and helpful. I have used uhaul at other locations but this was a far better experience and is now the one I will be using in the future as well as recommend to others
