There were mouse in the facility. My mattress, sofas and other items were contaminated by mouse poop. I didn’t want to touch those items because of contamination and I gave key to the staff. So they can discard these items. Staff name is Ashley. She told me not to contact the insurance company but they will cover all the damage made to my property but she had stop communicating with me, did not reply to my emails. On top of that they did nothing to remove the damaged property from the storage and keep charging me rent for the damaged property which was in the storage. Have vehicle ready when it's supposed to be ready. Cost me an extra $180 in moving fees as my vehicle was not ready until 2hrs after my scheduled time. It was ridiculous, the truck was available they just didn't â€œstage itâ€ despite being guaranteed it would be ready and available when I needed it. Will be taking the issue up with customer service. Truck made loud unsettling whistling sound the entire time and was in need of repair. Smelled like cigarettes and had burn holes on the seats. The sale person was rude. I asked him about the problem with my car and he said "it is what it is, the truck is yours now and you are responsible for it." Next day, I came back to add another day to my reservation and he kept said no and I needed to bring it back the next day no matter what. I called the central toll free and was able to extend my reservation. I would never go back to this place again.Tan N.

Our reservation was for 9 AM on a saturday morning. When we went to pick up the truck there were four people ahead of us and only one associate working. Because of this we didn't actually get our truck until closer to 10 AM. This cut a whole hour off of our moving time and we were told we still needed to have the truck back by 3 because there were other reservations. It was not the associate's working fault, but management should really plan schedules better so that there is enough staff working to support the amount of pick up reservations scheduled.Colin W.

Bad customer service from the men on the return. They were confused, disrespectful and giving contradicting misinformation. I believe I was charged for a dirty vehicle as well. It was dark during the self check out and I felt I was being harassed by these two and just clicked off the check boxes to get out of there. They then charged me for a dirty vehicle. I was told by a uhaul representative I had to pick up truck and trailer separately but could return them together which was fine, that was not the case. The women taking care of my equipment return was very rude and dismissive, she basically told me I was lying about what uhaul had told me when I made the reservation and would be charged for the mileage regardless of a misunderstanding, then sent me away. She was extremely distracted by her child during the return process when I returned and gave me an attitude for their own child's misbehavior. When returning the trailer, the employee insisted that we had to park it in a spot, which we would have been more than happy to do but we are not skilled at backing up a trailer. We were only able to pull up very close to the spot. After all long day we didn't need an employee just sitting there not helping us and staring at our failed attempts. He FINALLY got a trolly and moved the trailer into position with another employee who was very nice. The other employee couldn't understand why his fellow employee didn't just do that to begin with. Nothing to improve. Staff was courteous, facility was organized and clean. Regarding the truck itself, I feel like it shouldn't be set to tow/haul on every startup. For normal hauling it holds gears too long, revving too high. It gives the impression something is wrong, and I can't imagine it's good for the drivetrain. It was only after the 3rd or 4th drive that I noticed the sticker behind the shifter. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think the staff mentioned that the mode button.Antonio M.

Truck had transmission issues, couldn't start it without help from multiple people every time. Windows wouldn't go up all the way and driver door didn't close properly. Truck was barely used by us but every time we tried to start we almost got stuck every time. Almost had to call for help. Very bad equipment.Susan B.

The pickup process was horrible. The web page constantly cut out, which left me struggling to find the truck information and combo to retrieve my key. In addition, there was no actual information on where the lockbox with the keys was located. When I finally found it, they had never actually put the key inside so I went inside to get my key. After standing in line for 15 minutes, the woman behind the counter gave me a nasty attitude about my well behaved dog being inside and told me I needed to leave. The dog would not have been inside had they put the key in the box in the first place. Thankfully another employee who happened to walk by me outside was finally able to help retrieve the key. All in it too 40-50 minutes to get my truck and a ton of frustration.William S.

I used to be very impressed with the Bridgeport Store and always received fine service. I was very disappointed with the young woman's attitude (we never learned her name) when she seemed justified to say the Dolly we ordered was not available. She insisted that we were not promised a dolly even if we ordered one! On leaving, we discovered there was No Gas in the truck! (I have photos.) We almost didn't make it to a gas station. We believed we would receive a van with a full tank. I had to pay to fill it. I had to buy a dolly from the Bridgeport store. Add up $70 and $50. I was not treated kindly except by the young man who works there. I have been a good customer for a couple of years now. I am not sure if this unfriendly lady was the store manager. I ordered a 20' truck then without notice received a 15' less than 12 hrs before my move 5hrs away I had to leave furniture for free because I wasn't given what I reserved and nothing was availablenick D.
Closing out the rental on the storage the information could be made better to understand. We were not comfortable with tossing the sign in card on the floor. Whenever I tried to call the local number, 8would reach the automated system of the national U-Haul system. NEVER was I able to get through. I would have at minimum a thirty minute wait time before I would get a live body on the line at it be the answering service of the national answering service, I would ask to patched through to the local pine street, Bridgeport, CT office and I would be again be on a longer looong wait time before giving up.Patricia S. | Overall Experience

Rodent infested storage facilities. Had to take stuff out after seeing rodent droppings everywhere in the unit and holes on most of the storage bags. Rodent infestation was so bad that they got into my suits, only after I opened up the bags after already moving that a mouse jumped out and ran under the sink. I am writing to you to express my disappointment with the customer service I experienced while at the UHaul location in Bridgeport, CT. I made a reservation for an 5x8 storage unit online for $104.95/month starting 6/26/21. This reservation was made a week before check in. I arrived on 6/26 to check in, Ashley Quiles was the one behind the desk. The store was busy and she was moving very fast. While waiting in line for over 20 minutes, I witnessed her speak rudely to her coworkers and reprimand them in front of customers for using the bathroom. She was impatient with customers and was barely doing the bare minimum to help. When it was finally my turn, she did not make eye contact and continued to speak extremely quickly. I asked her several times to repeat herself or to clarify what she was saying. When it was time to pay, my total was over $120, so I asked her to break that down, as the reservation I made was $104.95. She rolled her eyes and said that it was tax. When I asked her to clarify why there was over $15 of tax, she said very matter of factly replied that was not true. I explained that the reservation I made was for $104.95, she first said that I made a reservation for the first floor, but there were no units left and I had to go on the second floor which would increase the rate. (she had just given away the last first floor unit to the couple in line in front of me). When I challenged that the reservation I made was not being honored, she got very snippy with me and then told me that the rates had gone up. I asked why I had been able to make a reservation at a lower rate and why that rate is not being honored. She was unable to answer the question and was clearly getting annoyed, so I cut my losses and agreed to the higher rate. I went to access the unit, her directions left much to be desired on how to gain access. Upon leaving, I decided to take the stairs. There was no sign on the door of the stairwell indicating that would be a problem.. When I got to the first floor and tried the door, it was locked. Come to find out, I was locked in the stairwell. I tried calling the office, no answer. I tried banging on the doors to get back into the storage area, no response. I tried all of the doors, but could not get out. Ultimately, I had to use the "Emergency Exit Only" door to get out, after spending 20-30 minutes trying to get out. When I returned in August to collect my belongings, I arrived to find two "Wet Floor" signs in front of the elevator. Assuming that someone had just mopped the floor, I got in, only to find that I could not press the button. I used the intercom to speak with the front desk and asked what was going on with the elevator. I was met with exasperation that I would even ask such a question. She acted like I should have known that Wet Floor signs were equal to a broken elevator. After getting nowhere over the intercom, I went over to the main office to see if I could chat with someone and find another way to get to my unit. I was met by Ashely and her rudeness again. She repeated several times, "Like I told you the elevator is not working." I asked if I could use the stairs, she said they were not accessible, when I asked her to clarify, she was unable. When I explained that the stairwell is perfectly usable, as I had already used it once, but needed someone to open the door, she tried to tell me that there are signs saying its for emergency exit only. That was not the case. (There are no signs, and either those doors should be unlocked or signs should be placed IMMEDIATELY. That stairwell is USAFE and a hazard to all of your customers if you are not going to unlock it.) I asked if there was any kind of estimate of when the elevator would be fixed, Ashley was unable to give me any kind of estimate, and was rude throughout the encounter, treating me like I was dumb. I called Eagle Elevator, I asked the operator if they were able to give an estimate, she said the call had come in about 30 minutes earlier and estimated the technician would be at the facility within the hour. And within the hour the technician showed up. When I went to check out of my unit, there were no employees in the store. The woman outside on her smoke break came in to find someone else for me so she could smoke her cigarette. The customer service (or lack thereof) I experienced in working with Ashely was inexcusable. I am in my twenties, I have worked in the service industry. I understand that it is challenging and employees are underpaid. Service employees have one of the most challenging jobs and I acknowledge that. However, a simple apology could go a long way. "I'm sorry, the elevator is not working today. I made a call to the company and they are going to send a technician at their earliest convenience. Unfortunately they did not give me a time estimate, let me call them back and see what I can find out." The staff (owner and mother, I presume) did not appear to care about their customers. They came across as rude and wasted a lot of my time bickering with one another. Two other employees were kind and helpful, but, unfortunately, they were not wearing name tags so I cannot commend them directly. The unit I reserved was not correct, meaning I had to get a different unit that was more expensive, just for that price to increase a month later. Not sure if it was the system or the employee, but my autopay was incorrectly setup and I had to dispute late fees that were wrongly applied. When I finally moved out, most of my items were covered in rat droppings and urine. I will likely have to pay to get my mattress professionally cleaned or throw it out and buy a new one.
