I reserved a 15' truck because it has a ramp and I have arthritic knees that don't fare well climbing in and out of trucks. I was told they didn't have a 15' truck and I could have a 10' truck (without the ramp) or go to another l location. I didn't have much choice so I rented it. When the truck was brought around, it was a 15' truck. I notified the staff of the mix-up, happy that they came through for me. I was then told I couldn't take this truck (which we had already agreed to and signed the contract.) I was told that someone else was coming for that truck and I had to take the 10' truck. I told them that I had the earlier reservation and it's wrong to hold this truck for someone else. They said something about this being a one-way rental which is completely irrelevant to me. I asked, "Why can't THEY go to another location"? and was rudely told I had two choices, take the 10' or go elsewhere. I was given a $50 discount by the very nice and apologetic young lady that was there upon my return which was appreciated but doesn't help the fact my knees are still in pain from the climbing up and down.KARL S.

The truck exterior was filthy. It has mud caked on the sides and into the wheel wells. I specifically ask the agent if that was the truck she wanted me to take and she said yes. There was another customer that dropped off while I was picking up and they ask for a receipt and the guy behind the counter told them it would take 10 minutes. I reserved on line. I input all my data including credit card and drivers license and picture. The app had me do it again and then I still had to go inside and she ask me the info a 3rd time. I could not pick up the truck using the U-Haul app. The process was frustrating. I have done it many times. The people behind the counter were no help.William S.

I did not rent from the location in Danvers, I rented from the location in Salem. This is the second time I rented a truck that wasn't at the location I rented it from. I wouldn't recommend UHaul to anyone given that it's not reliable that the truck you rented will be where they say it willBENJAMIN W.

It was extremely hard to use the app for picking it up while closed and nearly impossible to deal with the associate on the phone. If I had known I was going more identification online, I could have prepared that. Asking me for my passport and lease (which I do not have) is not feasible. It took nearly 30 minutes at pickup just to signin and get approval for the key.Richard P.
I was told that the gas tank was full !!! When I started to drive away , I noticed it was only 3/4 full ! I called the office immediately from down the road and spoke with the Representative. He stated bring it back full and I would be reimbursed . I filled the tank upon my return . The rude woman working afternoon shift , who was not working the morning shift , told me â€œ I miss understood â€œ how would she know if she wasn't there ????? I was robbed of $15 for gas !!! The morning rep never walked me to the truck to check it for damages . â€œThe key does not work properly in those vehicles â€œ when I went into the office and asked if there was a trick to starting the vehicle . there were 2 females working at the location that were helpful there was an older man who tried to help me but he was not well trained (not his fault) And finally there was a young man with black hair who literally sat our whole exchange with his feet up on the counter space The young man did not look anything up in the computer to verify what I asked for service with and just did not seem in the mood to look Also I had issues accessing my storage after hours more than once even though that is what I paid for, this was corrected but I did have to come back to the office during office hours several times which defeats the purpose of 24/7 accessdarleen w. | Overall Experience
Online booking system booked a bunch of random moving supplies bringing my order well over what I expected. The representative said the online system does that automatically and if you don't watch what is on there, it puts on what it thinks you need for the move (example dolly). All I ordered was a truck and some moving blankets and was very taken off guard when all the other stuff was on my order. Luckily the representative was able to cancel that order and generate a refund but I still needed to wait for the refund and needed to pay additional/separate from my original order. Fix a glitch in the U-Haul mobile android app. I did after-hours self-checkin. When the app asked me to photograph the odometer, I did, but the photo would not upload. I repeated this step three more times, but it never worked. Then I closed the app and opened the Chrome browser on my phone, and the photo uploads worked perfectly.David C.
Returning was a nightmare. We dropped off the truck, keys, and slip at the designated drop off location, and confirmed with customer service that we were all set. We returned the truck 15 hours early but were charged for an additional day. Customer service has yet to reach out to me to resolve this issue. Well I rented a few trucks at this location and moving services as well. The Manager Beth was terrific! She really knows what she's doing. When I was checking out this other lady Cynthia has Zero customer service skills. She was trying to charge us for blankets that were in the truck? We never ordered them or used them. She was shaking her head at me with an angry look on her face and waving her hand at me as to say stop talking. She will drive customers away from this location with an attitude like that. Under staffed, only one person available to do rentals and returns. They have to walk out back to hookup, etc which leaves people inside. I didn't get a receipt and was told I would by email, just checked and I didnt receive it. It's bad enough I paid for a one way rental at 60, which I have before and it was less than half that. The virus has nothing to do with hooking an empty trailer up and returning an empty trailer. Why more than double the cost?? And no veteran discount which I have received in the past. The drop off the guy was nice enough, but having a line of trucks and trailers at the door and a line inside is a bit much on a Sumday morning, under staffed.Annmarie P.

The Danvers location/staff were exceptional We unfortunately were told the day before our reservation that we had to go to the Salem, Ma location to pick up our truck- although coming from NH it was out of the way but doable. We get there it was complete chaos. No place to park and we were told that they didn't even have the truck we were supposed to pick up. We proceeded to park across the street in the restaurant lot to go in the store to speak to someone regarding our reservation. We did not have masks (we were supposed to do everything by mobile phone). The person working in the store was so rude and told us if we don't have a mask â€œto get outâ€ he didn't even offer to speak with us outside. We wasted ONE HOUR of our time and we were treated and spoken to rudely and told to leave??!!! We drove all the way down from New Hampshire which was over an hour ride!! This is completely unacceptable. Again, coming from another state we do not know the individual city mandates for Massachusetts plus we were supposed to check in with â€œno contactâ€ through my mobile phone AND we could have spoken to this individual outside. We ended up getting a smaller truck at the Danvers location -the staff there was very accommodating and nice.MICHAEL L.

The location is on Rt.1 which is tricky due to a divided highway. Also, it is immediately after an exit and difficult to see the tiny signs. Other than that, it is an excellent UHaul place and I will go there whenever I need UHaul.KARIN C.

We were encouraged by uhaul to use their online check-in process to "save time from going to the counter." This process was AWFUL! The website kept crashing; the picture of the vehicle was incorrect to what we had actually reserved; the directions to the key holder weren't clear at all so we were left wandering the lot. When we finally did find it the lock code provided didn't work so we ended up having to go inside anyways. Once inside we waited for 15mins in line all to find out that the wrong vehicle was on the registration - we reserved a cargo van, the photo on the app was for a 10' box truck, and the truck on the reservation itself was a 15'moving truck! Thankfully the gentleman was able to get us into a van but not until after calling us trouble makers and complaining about us causing such problems... are you kiiiiiiiidding me?!?!? Then he sent us in our way without a contract, saying he'd swap the vehicles in the computer later. This was the absolute worst rental experience I've ever had and I've rented many many MANY times.Jennifer S.

Please inspect the tires my situation could have been much worse as the damaged tire could have burst. The staff did a great job with replacing the vehicle but they also asked me to drive it back.
