I waited 20 minutes to get served, gentleman stepped from the garage and said someone will be right with me and 3 other clients. 10 minutes later someone appeared and got me out the door in total 5 minutes more. U-Haul did absolutely terribly. I shipped two U-Boxes from Washington to Rhode Island, which arrived to the stage on time no sweat, but even though I paid for them on time to have my movers come collect them, U-Haul didn't release them on the day they guaranteed. They said it was because the guy in charge of the location (Steve) had put in a promissory note (no one was able to explain to me what that is) that kept the service workers from being able to release my boxes to the movers. I waited for NINE HOURS for Steve to return from a job in Maine because apparently he was the ONLY one able to change anything in the system. By that time, my movers were on another job because U-Haul had wrecked their schedule (as well as mine) and they weren't able to get me in for four more days. Keep in mind that I had just moved over 3,000 miles and had nothing â€” no bed, no towels, no dishes â€” because it was all in my U-Boxes, which had been guaranteed to be delivered to me on that first day. U-Haul did absolutely nothing to compensate, more of just a "sucks to suck" kind of situation. I also called Steve's cell phone the evening of that first day and left a voicemail, given that he was ALSO going to be off work the next day, but he never acknowledged that contact or did anything to help. My roommate and I had to buy air mattresses because we couldn't afford a hotel on such short notice for so long. She has scoliosis â€” thanks U-Haul! All that being said, the U-Haul service workers were very nice and I know they didn't have any more power to do anything. This is all Steve's fault. Also, the moving help I hired through U-Haul was absolutely excellent on both ends. But I imagine that's only because they're independent movers and not actually part of U-Haul, because U-Haul sucks. U-Haul's billing website for my U-Box reservation was also constantly wrong and couldn't keep track of what I had or hadn't paid, which in part contributed to their colossal screw-up with releasing my boxes. They also completely failed to notify me of any time that I had charges due (which of course were not accurately reflected in my account) and left it down to my movers having to put them on the phone so they could talk to me (this happened for both loading and unloading my U-Boxes). Literally U-Haul could have just called me? I've worked in customer service for years and it's not hard to just ring someone up and tell them their payment is due. I've moved cross-country multiple times (and have used U-Haul before as well) and I cannot stress enough that I will never be using U-Haul again.Graham B.

The pickup location was changed without my approval. I had requested a pickup near my home over a month prior to my departure. A day before pickup I received a call that the pickup would be at another location a half hour away. Also, the moving blankets I rented were not in the truck and I had to stop at another location to pickup. Otherwise, it was a very successful rental.Michael F.

Key was not in the box where it should have been, spent a half hour on hold with the provided number, and was hung up on the second someone picked up, spent another half hour on hold before being able to get the truck. When I tried to return the truck, wouldn't allow me to do the online return as the mileage did not match and had to spend another 50 mins on hold so that I would not be charged the "convenience fee" for leaving the truck without the check out. Awful experience, should not offer a 24/7 truck share if it's not something that is actually able to run properly.ADRIANNE C.

AIR CONDITIONING completely broken during heat wave. Thought I would die. Also, sorry if local office not responsible for this part, but we reserved using the 24/7 "Mobile Pickup" and were never told the we NEED to pick it up within exactly one hour of the reserved time, or be screwed. In fact when we got a call to confirm the res, we SAID we might be 1 or 1.5 hours later than original. We tried to pick up truck about 65 minutes after scheduled time and website just failed to allow it WITH NO explanation -- just no button to complete the transaction, and "continue" buttons went around in loops. We wasted time and sweat figuring WE must have done something wrong, but nope. With long line at store, took us an extra hour to eventually drive away,JOHN H.

I was not told that the truck did not have a ramp and that it had a wood deck. We absolutely needed a ramp and not having it means we didn't finish and have to rent again. The wood deck is awful compared to the metal deck where things slide easily. I will never rent a 10' again and should have been told it lacked those features before renting it. I rented a 6 by 12 trailer and I've rented many before I usually do 2 to 3 trailers a month and this trailer was not road worthy there was damage on every side a light was busted one of the brake lights was just duct taped on it worked but it was duct taped on.Mike L.

The overall experience was good but unfortunately it rained the entire drive from Philadelphia to Rhode Island and overnight as we waited to move in the following morning. A number of boxes near the rear of the truck got wet and then the bottom of the couch and a number of boxes near the front of the truck got wet as well. The water in the front of the truck appeared to come from the moms attic area that was elevated from the rest of the truck. The rear of the truck appeared to seal pretty good but obviously it did not close tight enough to seal out rain water.LARRY G.

The staff was outstanding! Very helpful! The overhead door on the trailer we rented seemed like it should have some type of "Stop" on the sliding door so it would not come down when loading or unloading the trailer. If this sliding door should have a way to stop the door from sliding down it needs to be fixed. A few times it almost hit us on the head. Otherwise all was outstanding! Thank you. BobRobert A.
I want to give a huge shout out to Moragn Amador at this location. She was spectacular when assisting us with the move in and day prior to moving out. Very attentive to my needs and did not suffocate me with loads of products/services that would’ve costs lots of money. I had a bit of a weird experience with the issue in using the dumpsters at the property. I used the night I moved out and was charged $40 for it. At no point did someone from the company state that the dumpsters were off limits to renters. Mind you, someone came up to us at the trash and even wished us a good night. If that was the case, why weren’t we addressed then? We would’ve immediately went elsewhere had we known prior to emptying out the unit and throwing them there, we would’ve went elsewhere.Martha O. | Overall Experience

The vehicle was not swept clean. The vehicle cargo area had a 3rd party locked padlock on it that had to be removed. The moving pads I paid for were not provided. I had to request a refund and I was on hold waiting for 40 minutes and transferred twice unnecessarily when the first UHAUL phone CS rep I talked to could have just told me to request the refund when I returned the vehicle.ROBERT F.

Tell me before I leave I will get a text about the condition of the vehicle / got it 20 minutes later while I was driving. By the time I stopped; the text had expired and I had to call. Sat on hold for 20 minutes! Vehicle smelled like smoke. Vehicle had a tire pressure warning light on when I picked it up. Vehicles should all be returned on FULL, just like rental cars....Having to remember on moving day which line we are on in the gas tank is insane . Not a half; not a quarter... 1/2 and a notch! Just more things to worry about/deal with on an already hectic day. Housing is a basic human need; it's so stressful. You could do so much to help people during this transaction!SHERRI C.
Was delayed over an hour due to the fact there was no word-lock box on rear of truck. Went inside business talked to an employee and the truck was gone. Had to get another rental. My pick up time was 10am I was planing on being there about 1015 due to work schedule. It was just an major inconvenience and I guess lucky that there was another truck available at that location. I will never do a myshare pickup again. The app is garbage and it allows others to pick up the truck your renting before you can finish the process.Joshua G.

There was an issue with the electronic entrance to my unit for the first 2 months of our experience, which meant I could not access the unit after 7pm, which did not adhere to the posted schedule I had signed up for. I brought it to the attention of management and they said they were working on fixing it & apologized for the inconvenience. But upon asking for some sort of bill reduction, I was told they’d have to ask the facility head. Ivory ever got back to me & I was given the runaround a few times. That’s not right. Not giving me access at times outside my personal work hours really resulted in a terrible experience. Additionally, I showed up 10 minutes before the office closed one night & asked the staff member in duty if he could help me get into my unit as my card wasn’t working. He said he couldn’t because he was closing up. Again, awful customer service & completely inappropriate foe the staff member to value their closing over a customers needs while they were still open. While the door issue was eventually fixed, it was too little too late. We’ve since moved to another facility in the area & are having a much better experience. The staff at the East Providence, RI location are excellent, providing excellent customer service. Dawn went above and beyond to help me when I arrived it was noted that the call and reservation center did not send my storage rental information to them so they could get my ubox out of storage so I could have it transferred to a storage unit. They also gave me wrong information about what a split level unit is; luckily once again Dawn at the site location saved me from climbing stairs to get to a unit. Very unprofessional of UHAUL Call Center! If not for Dawn who went out of her way to get my ubox out from being buried among other uboxes, I would have been out $200 for the movers I had arranged. Thank you Dawn!!! As for the UHAUL Call & Reservation Center HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The storage facility at East Providence is clean but two things I didn't like: 1. street level storage units have very low ceilings, smell damp and there is no lights so the units are dark. 2. there is no elevator for above street level storage or split levels which is ridiculous!! don't know about lighting because I didn't look at those units.janet t. | Overall Experience
