I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent truck rental experience, which was the most frustrating and disappointing moving rental experience I have ever encountered. I reserved a 20 foot truck for pickup at 12:00 p.m. and arrived at the location at 11:50 a.m. After waiting in line for more than 15 minutes, I was informed that the location did not have any 20 foot trucks available despite my confirmed reservation. I was then directed to U Haul's national support team. After a brief conversation, I was placed on hold for more than an hour while waiting for a scheduling specialist who never joined the call. During this time, I raised concerns about U Haul's reservation guarantee, which I understood to provide a $50 payment when a reservation cannot be fulfilled. The store representatives incorrectly stated that the guarantee was only $20, which contradicted the information published on your website. More than 90 minutes after my arrival, I was finally offered a 26 foot truck that had apparently been on site the entire time. The vehicle itself appeared to have sustained prior damage, including visible bends along the lower portion of the cab. To address the inconvenience, I was told that notes would be added to my account and that an additional discount could be approved when I returned the truck. However, when I returned the vehicle, I was informed that the manager had already left for the day, and no additional accommodation or discount was provided. This situation had a direct financial impact on me. I had scheduled movers within a limited two hour service window and lost valuable time while attempting to secure the truck I had reserved. Despite having a confirmed reservation, I was treated no differently than a walk in customer. I am requesting a meaningful refund to compensate for the failure to honor my reservation, the excessive delay, the misinformation regarding your reservation guarantee, and the additional costs I incurred as a result of the lost time with my movers. I would appreciate a prompt review of this matter and a response outlining the compensation U Haul intends to provide. I hope the company will take this opportunity to make this situation right and restore my confidence in your service.

The staff was great but there is a problem with the reservation system! Lot of others had similar issues where they had reservations but we would come in and the truck would be gone becuase of a same-day reservations. During peak moving periods, this can't be happening.

maybe I'm spoiled - I seem to get newer, pretty clean and comfortable vans and trucks and I'm a fairly regular customer throughout the year- the 10' box I had yesterday was, old, loud, (someone should check the transmission) door seals don't work, windshield was dirty. When you are doing a move or whatever , I don't want to be thinking about is this truck going to make it, why do I have to deal w a windshield that I can't see out of etc and the manual windows are really irritating. You asked for it -

The app did not let me continue submitting photos for the return process after I clicked on the example photo for the front. I will take my own photos since there are no employees around to help me return the vehicle. I’m not entirely sure what to do with my keys because the return process abruptly ended on the app.

I was disappointed that the units that I had reserved were not as described online. I booked a 10'x10' unit and a 10'x20' unit and the 10'x20' ended up just being two 10'x10's. Nowhere was that explained to me beforehand and it won't make my move any easier.

The team at the Forest Park location are very helpful getting me through the reservation but I feel they could do more to ensure I was set. First thing is that they parked the truck for me to take on a busy road in front of a traffic light. The traffic behind it didn't realize the truck was parked and drivers were irritated. I also had to hustle to get the truck going and as someone who has never driven a huge truck like that, it was a rough experience to get situated, figure out the mirrors and get the truck going. Feedback on the truck: The break peddle and gas peddle are very close to each other. It was a terrifying moment when I thought I had my foot on the brake and I was pressing the gas at the same time. The truck was lurching forward and I couldn't figure out why until I released my foot from the brake peddle.

Upon arrival there was one employee working alone. He stated that his help called off. So he was responsible for storage, purchases, rentals, and returns. At times the line stretched from the counter to the door. To pickup a truck with a reservation took me more than 70 minutes. I'm a loyal customer of Uhaul however, I'm beginning to think that it is time to search for other options. My experience just a few months ago resulted in having a truck but no storage unit ready when I came in to the store two days prior, waited to make a reservation only to find out that I didn't have a unit. It appears that Uhaul has moved past customer service and satisfaction.

I’m physically challenged walking when trying to move around and take individual pictures of the vehicle used. Maybe taking a video might be easier. But because I’m having challenges with my mobility both pictures and video are both pretty tough.

The only problem I have with Uhaul is that the phone app is not user friendly. I have tried several times to set up my rental with the app and it has never worked once. When I get there, they have no record of my rental application. It has never caused me too much trouble though.

They leased me a unit inside of the building that wasnt fully operational so when arriving i didnt had access to the unit or the building because it was outside if there hours of operations so i had to call customer service then talk to the manger of the facility only to be told that the building is still under construction so i can’t access it while having movers there that were costing me $200 a hour to have them just waiting around to figure out what to do next.

I had a situation where I had to move faster than expected. I had to go in twice to figure out what the best options were for me. They were patient and helpful. I had to cancel some things and then buy some other things and they were able to help me skillfully. Great place and great people.

Access to facility is poor. Renters are required to stop a lane of traffic to enter the building. My key card often did not work. In violation of the rental agreement, a renter was essentially living in a unit near mine. Conditions were unsanitary in these circumstances. There was the smell of urine. I waited weeks for staff to act. They did not. Staff finally acted when I was forced to complain with agitation. My unit's rent was increased every year until it was way out of line with the market. No loyalty to existing customers. Units are small and short. Generally unpleasant experience. But staff was friendly and nice.

The facility was mostly well-maintained and mostly clean, but not perfect. Occasionally, there were issues like the door not opening or closing, but a member of the staff always helped me out. There was one member who helped me a number of times, sometimes appearing right when I needed help. But, I did not get her name.

Management is awesome although he wasn’t available on Sunday the lock that I purchased for my storage was too complicated to come off. I had to pay additional money for a locksmith to come out and drill the lack. There was no tools available for me to have staff break the lock open due to the fact that I lost my keys other than that everything went OK I did call Uhaul upon checking out.

The 24/7 access card did not work at times. So I would have to wait the next business day to get access. My payments were set up for direct bill but I incurred fees and penalties for late payments in February. My account was opened on 01/29/23. I did not know there was no proration for billing. They offered to work with me on the charges when I called but they did not simply processed the fees and penalties with a double payment in March 2023.

I felt disrespected as a customer. In opening my contract I was very specific in cost and due date. I was told by Mike Lopez that I had a month free and my first due date will be in December only to get an email in November informing me I’ve been locked out and charged a late fee only one day after my free month was up. I was also told we don’t charge a month in advance however if you do not charge a month and advance then how was I late when my free month was just over. I felt that offer was too good to be true in the first place and it turns out that I was right. If I were supposed to pay at the end of November that is what I should have been told when I asked the question at the signing of the contract, I tried contacting Mr. Lopez after the incident and never received a call back or email from him only excuses that he would not be in the office for a few weeks however there should have been some sort of manager who could have called me back. Needless to say I said it paid them their money and immediately removed my things from this company and I will never ever use their services again. The $19.95 rate on the truck is very inaccurate there is no way that you will get a truck for that amount and it was impossible for me to get a truck for a one-way moved to Matteson Illinois from Forest Park, I ended up having to pay for 50 extra miles to return the truck back to the opposite side of town. I’m owed money since I didn’t use the entire month and I’m expecting my prorated amount refunded just as quickly as Uhaul locked me out of my unit and charged me a late fee. BTW don’t waste your time calling corporate, I tried that as well and getting in touch with a human there is impossible. Dispute was resolved by me paying what they asked and removing my items but it’s very likely I would never use them again or recommend to anyone.

I called and reserved a storage unit which ended up being way too small. The lady asked me questions about furniture I had even how many bedrooms which was two with king and queen size bedroom sets. I could barely put 1 bedroom in the unit she reserved for me therefore I had to shop around for another storage place which cost me more money and more money for the movers!!! I’m so disappointed. My move was the worst. Always check out the facility…The young man was very nice and understanding. He apologized and was helping me find some place else.

The staff at U-Haul of Forest Park is very helpful, accommodating & friendly, I highly recommend this facility. The only minus for the location is that the main entrance is situated vey close to the busy intersection which can make it difficult to drive in and out. The storage entrance is further past the main entrance and is not as problematic.

There’s a serious mouse infestation!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! There was mouse droppings and pee all over my things! I had to throw away almost half of the things in my unit because they were completely ruined. And the price they were charging at this location was outrageous!!! I moved to a different uhaul location that’s way nicer and climate controlled for $80 less! Over all I was HIGHLY disappointed with the forest park location and WOULD NOT recommend anyone to go there.

The storage facility smells so incredibly bad. I'm not sure if it's the smell of mice excrement or the smell of the poison trying to kill the mice, but either way it made me want to throw up every single time I went in there. Plus, now our belongings smell that same terrible smell now that we've taken them out, despite multiple cleanings. Furthermore, we had NO food whatsover, yet mice still chewed threw our things. We had to throw many of them out. This was such a terrible experience!
