Staff used the customer parking were "off the clock" when I asked a question but had plenty of time for other people. The truck had cigarette ashes all over the cab and the glove box won't stay closed. The online check-in was way more difficult than at any other location I've used beforeJUSTIN H.

My responses should be tempered by the fact that this location had a tornado blow through it and my storage unit was partially affected. However, this property has issues with the front gates regularly which meant very limited access when I seemed to need it most. Also, in an effort to keep the site clean they use leaf blowers which serve to send whatever dirt, dust and detritus into the the storage units covering the front 5 feet of our stuff with this. The staff was generally nice - some more than others - and generally helpful. I would recommend this place for the surrounding community only for belongings that are hardy or do not require special handling of any kind or are completely sealed in boxes.Damon P. | Overall Experience

Rented a van body. The structure was leaking moderate bits of water onto our stuff. I was told that since I didn't pay extra money for additional insurance there was nothing they could do. Would of been better off just piling my stuff in a yard with a tarp over it. What's the point in renting storage units if they won't even guarantee that it will stay dry. Or even try to keep it dry. I visited one time to pick up some packing supplies and the front desk lady told me she didn't know how to handle vouchers or gift certificates and told me to come back another day. Totally unacceptable. I called corporate and they told me to just do it via online and do a pickup so I did and the same woman handed me the wrong supplies. The day I came to get my UHAUL, the desk lady was on the phone talking to her dad about Birmingham waterworks and wouldn't get off the phone to take care of my order. She just talked the entire time. I want you to know that Ms. Cherri's Dudley at this facility is outstanding. She went above and beyond to help me the morning I drove 16 hours with 4 kids 2 vehicles a 26' uhaul and a car hauler straight from Florida to Fultondale. The unit I reserved previously from somewhere else 2 weeks prior was not available and I called Ms. Dudley who was patient and went so above and beyond to help us out. She deserves cuddos because I will stay a UHaul customer because of her and will brag about your service and above and beyond attitude because she is amazing.Sheila F.
I was told one thing but then billed something completely different my key had to be looked for for a while I asked my questions got them answered and the got charged for things I asked about and told I didn't have to worry about then spoke to costumer service that person was very rude shortly after getting off of the phone with that gentleman the rude supervisor from the facility I picked up my truck at called with a very nasty attitude approaching me with questions like â€œwhy did you tell costumer service what I told you?â€ â€œYou should have just left the key in the truck and called us Monday morning to let us know it's outside and I would've checked it in so it's your fault you got chargedâ€ was super rude and hung up in my face so never ever again!!!!!!!!!!!Priscilla S.

Rachel was awesome when I picked up the truck. However all the equipment I requested was not available. Upon return the truck, I had to deal with the â€œmanagerâ€. I was waiting to settle my bill upon returning and she felt the need to make me wait while she assembled marketing signs along with 2 other employees. I waited and finally left after about 12 minutes of waiting with out the final total of the bill. The manager was very unprofessional and I will not return or recommend this location.Mary R.

They charge me for time on the storage that I did not use...I was suppose to get a free month of storage..I made the reservation on May 18 but informed them I would not move in until May 27...but there charging me from the day I made the reservation...I was told I would get an additional month free since it was a error on there part but I have not received the free month...plus they state on the website they give you a free lock for the storage but I never received that eitherRochelle S.
I was told by a customer service representative when reserving the truck that we could do an online check in for the storage unit, the same process as picking up the truck. However, 2 hours of waiting on the phone was a waste of time because I ended up speaking with 5 customer service representatives that could not help complete the online checking in process for the storage unit. All of the customer service representatives answer to any issue was â€œI'll have to transfer youâ€ which resulted in hours of waiting and zero answers. The last customer service representative who I had spoken to, Mr. Michael Nowak, was helpful by letting me feel heard and sending emails to superiors to inform them of the inconveniences we'd hadâ€¦ I was CC'd on the email from Nowak to the manager, Sara, of the storage facility in Fultondale, Alabama. Her reply was unprofessional and insensitive. I will never recommend Uhaul to anyone. The staff is incompetent, service is inadequate, and the website does not work properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Alex M.

Great experience overall - the only thing I would add is to make sure the combination locks for the key box are set with the right code. I was not able to open the lock by myself and it took several minutes to get the issue resolved. The only problem I had was when the tornado came through last year, I emailed and emailed the manager to see if my unit was damaged and NOT ONCE received a response. I think that is poor customer service, especially since the facility isn't that big. Constant issues trying to get a functioning storage unit. I understand due to the tornado it can be chaotic. But some of the units had stuff moved in and we had to keep moving from one to another. Man working there told us we could have access 24/7, but did not tell us the gates had to be manually locked at 5 pm and you couldn’t get in past that. He locked up about ten minutes early and told us we couldn’t move my stuff in, tried to explain that there was nowhere to take the stuff as I have moved out and no longer had access to put the stuff back. He didn’t care, even though we would’ve been there a lot earlier if the initial moving in the first round didn’t take over an hour because unit after unit didn’t work out until we got to the fifth unit. I had no choice but to leave my stuff on a trailer outside where I lost about $500 worth of furniture due to rain. I’ve never experienced such horrible customer service before and doubt once I move my stuff out, I’ll ever come back to this location again.Nicholas S. | Online Move In

I have about $5000 worth of stuff missing. Mirrors, expensive luggage, boxes of beauty stuff, my jewelry some of which was inherited. My unit had 2 doors. They waited a week after I put my stuff in storage to tell me it had 2 doors. The worker told me they went in but never in a million years would I have expected them to steal from me!!!!!
