One of the worst service, I have ever seen. Took four days for local delivery within 3 miles. Customer support is worst. Website don't give correct quote for end to end delivery. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use UHaul services.Munish K.

Overall a good service. Good communication from U haul staff and updates. Staff were always friendly and helpful. U boxes arrived one day late but considering the snow storm weekend before we were okay with this. We managed to work around. We think in Covid times the U boxes are an excellent idea, safer. I have a comment about the Uhaul online process, not about the Hillside Uhaul location. I originally submitted a request online for a 20' truck for an in-city move in a different town in NJ. The request went through, but I got a call saying that the closest 20' truck available was in Hillside. Since Hillside is about 40 min away from where I was moving this was inconvenient, but I needed the truck and figured I could return locally. However when Uhaul changed the pickup location, they kept the in-city move part, which I didn't realize until the after I was packing the truck. Now I had to return the truck to the Hillside location a decent drive away. This added on to the already great stress of moving. Part of this is my fault for not realizing the situation in time, but I feel that Uhaul corporate should have realized that I am not doing an in city move anymore and explained the situation. Again, this is not a criticism of Hillside, they did all they could for me, this is about the rest of the process.Dan P.

My mover went to Hillside and the crate was unavailable (even though he called to confirm in advance) He ended up traveling to Edison NJ to get a pod for me. I had a problem that the charge was different, but I think that was because I couldn't on-line order the crate, an agent at Uhaul did it and made mistakesDebra L.

We had the same driver who dropped off the U-Boxes at our home and then storage, and then to our new place. Awesome! That man knows what he's doing, is efficient with his time, and gave us assurance we needed that our things would be ok. You need 100 like him!Tracey H.

We rented a storage unit at the Hillside NJ facility which was listed as having office hours Sunday 9-5. Further, I called UHaul the week prior to confirm I would be able to move in on Sunday and that there would be someone there to receive me and help me access my unit. Upon arriving the building was completely closed / abandoned. There were no visible signs that it was open / closed / a valid UHaul facility. We walked around the building for an hour and knocked on doors and it was completely vacant. Having no other choice, given we had a full UHaul truck of our belongings, we called the nearest UHaul storage location in Elizabethtown. Had it not been for the manager of that facility, Omar, who drove over and let us in, helped us move and waited for us to finish and lock up, we would have gone to a different moving and storage company. Omar was incredibly helpful and patient and we can't thank him enough. That being said the fact that I was able to reserve a unit for a scheduled move in date at a facility that is abandoned / not occupied on a regular basis is inexcusable. We had paid a lot of money to reserve the storage unit and the truck we filled with our belongings, all of which would have been wasted if not for the kind help of Omar.Alexandra W. | First Impressions
There needs to be communication between the booking department and the individual U-Haul store. Booking stated a date for delivery and arrival, but the store was unable to meet these dates due to no availability of equipment or drivers for delivery. Same was true for arrival store. All personnel I spoke with were more than helpful and courteous. This is strictly a corporate communication issue and it needs to be resolved.john W.

Danielle was absolutely fantastic! She was informative, helpful, patient and all around made a "not fun" task and end to a long day better. She should be commended and rewarded for her attention to detail, flexibility and hard work to manage such a large operation with many moving parts. I hope her managers realize what a great employee they have and she is compensated accordingly. You don't want to lose her. I checked I am not happy with the hours of the location (8am-4pm) currently, but I assume once the facility opens fully the hours would be extended later. I had a moderate experience. It could have easily been improved to a great experience with improved communication. When booking the Ubox, I was told to go to one location for Ubox pick up and Pick up truck rental. Thankfully, I called to confirm and found out I had to go to two different locations to pick up each item and to come later in the day. I was told by customer service that they are booking remotely and do not know what capabilities each location has. I found that to be odd. Why wouldn't the representatives booking the rentals know what is available at each location? On the delivery side of my Ubox, I had multiple issues with the Pompano reservation office. My Ubox was confirmed by the office to be delivered and picked up on certain dates. I was told I would receive a call 30mins prior to the driver's arrival and none of this occurred. It was delivered at a later date. I confirmed a new pickup date and it sat on my driveway for another week after that. I spoke to multiple representatives at the Pompano office. All stated they were sorry and would rectify the situation. None of this occurred. I then decided to call customer service and they attempted to get Don the manager on the phone, but he was busy at the time. The representative said she was emailing Don about the situation and that he would get back to me. He never followed up. There could have been multiple reasons why the Ubox delivery/pickup was delayed, however, I was never made aware. The communication that occurred was directed from my end with promised callbacks for updates that did not happen. This is a clear breakdown in communication that is hindering what could otherwise be an excellent service.Adriana O.
The staff was very friendly however not that helpful when I realized (a day after the box was delivered) that there were no furniture pads included in the box. 1. I first called the national number who told me to call the local office. 2. I called the local office and the person told me that pads were not included with U-boxes. Then she realized that they were included and apologized 3. Then she transferred me to a guy (I think it was the driver) who unapologetically told me that they ran out of blankets and that I could call around to other U-haul locations if I wanted to. I found the whole thing unacceptable. First to included no blankets, second to not tell me that they ran out of blankets, third to ask me to do the leg work to find blankets for my move. The other parts of the process were great however this part left a really sour taste in my mouth.Richard H.

One thing I would recommend changing is when we signed up for a U-Box it gave us many location options to store/load our U-Box (Edison, Brunswick, Scotch Plains). However, when it came time to load it, it wasn't at the location that we chose (Scotch Plains), it was even further (Hillside). I wish we would have known that some U-Haul locations don't offer U-Box, and other locations do.Kevin M.
