The truck did not come with a transponder for tolls, and the employee at the Somerville MA location said I needed to pay tolls individually for each section of I-95. I decided to change my route to avoid tolls altogether (except for the Mass Pike which is kind of unavoidable). So naturally my mileage went over the allotted amount and I was charged an extra $11. The first truck I reserved (20') on-line was unavailable as of the day prior to my scheduled pick up. I was informed that I could only get a 26' truck for a one-way rental and it had to be picked up at a different location. Upon arrival at the Takoma Park location I was informed that the 26' truck was no longer available as the reserved truck had not yet been returned. Marcus at Takoma Park Uhaul spent 20 minutes or so attempting to contact the renter of the 26' truck, but was unsuccessful in doing so. He did locate a 20' truck at the Hyattsville location, and directed me to go there. Upon arrival at Hyattsville, I was informed that while they did have a 20' truck, no furniture dolly (as reserved) was available. I was also informed that the amount I had already paid on-line with my credit card was insufficient and that I needed to pay an additional $50+. I asked to speak to the manager, and after a time he was located. He arrived at the office and after showing him my receipt and explaining the prior experiences I already had, he somewhat reluctantly agreed to allowing the amount paid to stand. No one ever really apologized for all the changes or the â€œwild goose chaseâ€ I was required to go on to get the truck I reserved almost a month ago. Quicker customer service when you get there to pick up your appointment rental. For example, when I got there, I had to wait in line for an attendant to recognize because they where tied up with a walk in. After 15 minutes I had to simply say I have an appointment. I have been renting Uhaul truck from this location for the past 2 years without problems till recently. Very poor services. We arrived about 7:30am to pick up the trailer. We prepaid to "save time at the counter". Staff told us that there was a with contract and it took about an hour to sort out in the end they said they would issue a refund and create a new contract for about the same price. The refund never came through and I had to request a refund through my credit card company. After that we hooked up the trailer (which had a few dents) while waiting for contract to be finialized. At 9:00 the contract was done and they said that we were good to go, so we tried to leave but a worker came and took the trailer off our car and said it needed to be fixed. We waited another 20 mins and asked them how long it would take for them to fix it. They called the worker in the back and were told it would be right up and they would provide the $50 reservation credit as the trailer was not ready in time. Because the trailer was taken away from us we also were not able to record the dents and marks on the trailer. When the trailer was finally brought back some of the dents were indeed fixed. The $50 credit was never applied... this is really the worst service I've ever had at any Uhaul or rental agency. The staff were also unsympathetic, even though the process took almost two hours and we did everything correctly. We had no issues returning the trailer.TIMOTHY JAMES L.

The personnel at the U-Haul storage location on Chillum Road in Hyattsville, Maryland were pleasant and answered all of my questions. I was disappointed however, that it was not explained to me in advance that in order to get one month free or discounted on my storage unit that a truck would have to be reserved and brought to the Hyattsville location from another U-Haul location. That was not disclosed early on. Therefore, I reserved a truck online from the Hyattsville location planning to drop it off at the same location. Then the same day I came to sign my contract, I was told the truck would've had to come from another location and be dropped off to receive the promotion. Additionally, when I was first given the U-Haul storage access card, I was not shown how to use it and I was not told that I needed a specific lock for the storage unit. There was some confusion with what I was told over the phone and when I got to the actual store. I was told that due to COVID-19 U-Haul was given all customers one month free storage, however when I got to the store on Chillum Rd that was not the case. The salesperson was kind and gave it to me anyway but said that the individuals from the call center work at different locations and that each store runs their own specials. I called the call center a second time about 24-hour storage and I was told that no U-Haul locations offer 24-hour service, but I was told differently at the location where I purchased. Of course the salesperson at the store was right about U-Haul offering 24-hour storage access.
