I lost my easy pass and was unable to reach the location for three days. I left Messages and even the Virginia U-Haul left Messages and it took three days for them to call me back. By the time they did, the truck was rented and somebody else was using my easy pass Pass. It not only was aggravating and took a lot of time for me to try to reach you Hall but it’s costing me money. There is no excuse for this poor customer service other than a lack of care by the receiving U-Haul in Inwood. I can’t possibly give a worse recommendation. I assume there is no recourse for me that nobody at U-Haul will really care or reach out to me and I certainly don’t expect compensation. But at least I can let everyone else know and be warned that they are concerns and customer service needs will not be taken seriously.

I showed up less than two hours late, due to the business of moving, and was told that my 15' truck was taken and I could only have a 9 ft van even though I saw 10 ft trucks and 10 ft vans in the parking lot. Was a returning customer, but am very annoyed.

The only negative is that the equipment is kept in an unpaved lot that was full of fleas and bugs. Because I picked up in the summer, I was wearing low socks so my ankles were extensively bitten by fleas and mosquitoes.

The pickup process should be better organized and explained in advance. The web version froze at "loading scanner" to add the driver's license to file. I had to download the app, which worked fine but it took 30 minutes to pick up which should have been 5 minutes the max.

At check-in, the woman was very nice, but she was the only one helping customers and the guy with her did nothing. Additioally, she was not able to check me and another gentleman in and said we must do by app. Neither of us could access our apps, and the wifi in the store was weak and ineffective. She did her best, but with 6 customers waiting and only one person working, the process took 2 hours!!! for something already reserved. Upon return, there was NOBODY in the place but me. I had to call out for the worker, Chase, to come to the counter. He took my van keys and I expected him to check the vehicle. I said aren't you going to check the vehicle and give or send me a confirmtion its return. He said I can't do it now. I told him that being liable for the vehicle I was uncomfortable just leaving it, as anything could happen to it once I leave. Again, he stated "well I can't do it now." I explained that the I was unable to access the app and I needed confirmation of the return. He said, "You'll have to wait." and retreated to the back that looked like a kitchen area. I wasn't eager to have another 2-hour ordeal. Ten minutes later Chase came out and began to help two customers who arrived AFTER me!!! Then he retreated back into the store saying he needed the key, but he never came back out. It is now 20 minutes before closing time. At this time, another employee emerged from a private car, in which he was talking with someone. The person then drove away and the unidentified employee began to move a trailer. I followed him and asked him if he could check the van and check me out. His response was that I could do it on the app. Again, I explained that my phone would not enable me to access the app. He finally agreed to check me out. One of the other customers who arrived after me, was equally frustrated, since he had been involved in the same delay earlier in the day as I was. He didn't care about just leaving his trailer, because there was very little opportunity for damage on the...other than someone coming by and stealing it! This was the worst experience I have ever encountered renting a vehicle!!! Does anyone monitor these employees to make sure they are working and servicing customers? At least the woman in the morning was trying her hardest to serve everyone, though it would have been better is she finished with one customer before moving to others before completing transactions. It would also be helpful to give her the right resources or training to use them, including a co-worker who did nothing but stand around and watch her. Due to the ridculous delay in the morning, I almost lost the window of time to move my furniture out of my apartment before the elevator hours ended. U-Haul charges me for extra miles...I should get refunded for my time!

I loved this location! In Inwood! It was big and spacious , lots of vehicle rentals to choose from! There was one available right away! Very helpful staff they helped me with all my needs very patient! CLEOPATRA the manger there was very polite and helpful and patient with all my questions!

Experienced a lack of employees to help settle matters for a multitude of customers. Although apps help, I experienced a situation where as the numbered key was not fully recognized-employee didn’t walk over to the van to see what the actual matter was-he didn’t appear to want to leave the store unattended despite my problem of not being able to start the number van due to the fact the wrong key was issued to me-he insisted the van was a push to start-because it was the wrongly tagged key-this particular van required a key as I told him. He insisted otherwise causes a delay in my allotted time frame. Thankfully another customer had the courtesy to come help me discover it was the wrongly tagged vehicle-got on my way finally thanks to another customer.

When i arrived, the app said that there was no equipment designated for me. I had to call the 1-800 number provided and wait on the line for a while to be told that they didn't prepare any trucks. They then told me they would give me a truck but i had to pay extra for a bigger truck that i didn't need or want. The truck wasn't even loaded with the proper equipment i needed and had reserved. But i was still charged for it

The connector to one of the chains was missing, so I brought a heavy duty pad lock to connect the chain to the car. I have to drive from NY to VA, so very hour we stopped and checked the chain. The pad lock could not hold the chain securely. So I purchase a additional lock to help to secure the first lock. When I stopped to check the chain both locks were gone so we took a bungee cord around the chain and connected it to the car and that worked the rest of the way, however, I was extremely nervous driving home.

2. Don't ask me for all the information that i entered into the app ( scanning back of license doesn't even work) when I get to the location or over the phone!! What a waste of time!

My U-Haul helper was phenomenal Celeste from 20a Sheridan Blvd I reserved one room online and showed up maybe 10 minutes before closing and on top of that I was having issues completing the process wouldn’t accept my cards. Celeste was so patient so helpful and knowledgeable and comforting that I would recommend them to anyone. at this point in the day, there was no other options. Stores were closed, and I was in a diet situation that she patiently helped me out with.

The staff was nice and helpful BUT the issue is above them, with U-Haul management.
I reserved a 26FT truck out of Cumberland, RI going to Inwood, NY where I then rented two storage lockers. The gut in Cumberland was super nice and helpful but he was all alone & multi-tasking like crazy. The check in took 40 min! Why have a reservation is the check in would take so long?! That and the 4 people in line ahead of me.
Then I get to Inwood and I kid you not the check in on two reservations took over 1hr!!! There too the staff was multitasking doing 3-4 other things. Returning the truck took 20min. The 1st of the month and end of the month you need more bodies at counter! I am not in your line of work and even I can see this! Such a complete waste of valuable time!

I didn't realize what split level meant and had to carry very heavy items up so staircase with no help . I wish they would have asked if I wanted a higher or lower level .

Only complaint is I don't like the passcard. If someone got hold of it, they could get into the facility, maybe not the unit rented but can still get inside. Also, if I lost/missplaced it, how would I get inside. I prefer passcodes.

1)there is a thermometer on the wall indicating temperature and claiming place was temperature controlled- but it was consistently hotter than should've been in the summer and colder in the winter.
2) Also the continual increasing of price for same storage unit Ithink is unfair- people have storage units bc nowhere else to put things, so getting the mailings of an increase in price doesn't leave the customer with many realistic options. The frequent price increases were a significant factor in my emptying out the storage unit as soon as I possibly could.

I just feel after 2 1/2 years I came one day late after making the payment the day before and they didn’t give my money back, Then On top of that I left a small sofa in the lobby to see if someone wanted it and she gave me a fine of $50 so out of $173 For storage for this month That I did not use because I move on September 1 I end up only getting Refund of $50 next Tuesday, September 6 which I feel was so unfair. The manager blamed me for putting stuff in a area that had nothing to do with me.i know it was the manager because when I went in to complain nobody was there and the cards on the counter had her face on it. This place is ghetto. There is never somebody behind the counter. The prices are ridiculous. This place needs a complete over uhaul I will never use uhaul again!!!!!!!!!.
There was a small guy with dreads was was super rude and acted like he didn't want to work or answer questions when asked.

The facility does not have enough customer service reps to help customers. It was a very unpleasant and scary experience getting to assigned unit of 2901. That unit was all the way in the back, I got lost trying to find it, the directions to units are not clear enough. I eventually came upon a gentleman who was working in an enclosed area who helped me out. The general manager is very professional and pleasant, though. But she might want to see how to make it easier for customers to get to their units easier and quicker.

Staff is great but this place is infested with mice. All of our stuff had mice poop in it when we moved out. Access hours are extremely limited compared to other places (unless you pay extra). There are no lights in the storage units themselves, and the ambient light from the corridors isn’t enough to adequately illuminate the inside of the units.

Your service was excellent until the last day. I literally waited in the store office for around 25 minutes before anyone assisted me. I called the office and I just heard the phone ring. I called the store manager Ms. Cleopatra Jones-Brown at 516.239.6374 and no answer. Her business card has her cell phone so I called it at 347.832.7237 and she still did not answer. I texted her and she still did not answer. By the time someone came the store had approximately 8 people waiting for service. This final day was horrible and unacceptable. You cannot leave you door open and then when customers come in there is no one to take care of them. Also don't put you cell phone on your business card if you are not going to answer the calls. If you open your doors THEN STAFF YOUR FACILTIY ACCORDINGLY.

Very disappointed. Came in w my wife n daughter w reservation. Torn between 2 sizes. Had questions. Customer service was horrible. Tanika was talking to me like every question bothered her. Attitude and talked back. Felt like an argument than a conversation.Told her I need to see actual storage space to make final decision. Negative vibes and I still proceeded w purchase. Yonkers rep took time to take me to actual storage space,she didn't care. Im aware of uhaul cards sometimes not working properly gave me a used card w back stripe very worn, told me it was brand new,could not activate it. So i suggested to try another card she said no.yonkers rep tried 2 cards before giving me one thats works. felt uncomfortable taking card that didn't work. Once we got to the back we needed guidance she refused. At this point my wife said cancel but I still proceeded to the back. Once I got there, the stairs and narrow walkway was not gonna work for me which I for warned her if pillar or anything inconvenient would make me not proceed w me paying i would refund. I WAS A LAYDOWN EASY PURCHASE.! If she took the time be professional, courteous, friendly i would still have took it. But the disappointment, anger n frustration w her push me to cancel and give my business in another storage in valley stream. I didnt ask for free storage i paid for mine. didnt deserve this treatment. There's more but I'm done. Asked to speak to manager she said no.
When I came back in to give her me receipt for refund. She didn't want to, ask her coworker to do HER the favor . Rep name Tameka proceeded w my refund. She was friendly and helped HER out to help me out. Appreciated that!. Money hasn't hit my card yet . Ms. Cleo please call me 7184338069 to follow up about refund sorry it did not work out..

The quality and maintenance of the units on the upper level that we rented is very different from that on the lower level (we have friends who rent ground floor units). The upper level is unprotected (no ceiling other than a type of chicken wire) and exposed to vermin (many traps and poison packets in view). There was also difficulty with the key card as well accessing the building after hours. The lobby/sales area is very clean and well maintained. The staff is also stellar. They’re professional, friendly, polite and helpful. They make all the difference.
