Owner Darwin Merrit is not a very friendly person and does little to make renting at U-Hail an enjoyable experience. I waited in line over a half an hour to get my reserved trailer rental and it was at closing time before I left. Another couple ahead of me were treated rudely, and when I asked when the trailer needed to be returned by I was told it was listed in the paperwork I was given. This will be the last tome I rent at this location

When we came to pick up the cargo van we had to wait 30 minutes for service. The van that was given to us had bald tires, the left turn signal didn't work, and the change oil message kept coming up. Found out when we returned the vehicle that it should not of been in service. The vehicle was unsafe and we were not compensated for the problems. We will never use uhaul again.

My reservations (I had two) were some how not honored even though the U-Haul center had them in their computer and I had e-mail conformation. Then I had me go to Elkhorn to pick up a truck if I wanted one!! 40 miles to get there!!!!!’ Don’t trust a confirmation.. they do not honor them!!

Internet reservation process was easy. After hours return was a little complicated, at least, for me personally. It was my first time. Desk person could be a little more personable. Vehicle performed was clean and performed as expected.

Unhappy with extra charges at drop off. I was quoted 20.00 for each extra day over the 5 days allowed, dropoff location tried to charge 54.00+ another 19.00 for the insurance. I argued with him about quote price, he eventually gave me the 20.00 price but still added another 19.00 for the insurance. Insurance paid at pick-up should have covered the extra day.

When I arrived at the location and attempted to load the car to the trailer the trailer tipped up and off of my hitch. Upon further investigation I realized that the trailer had not been tightened to my hitch. After tightening myself I everything was fine however this could have caused an accident had the trailer popped off of my hitch while moving down the road.

I rented the same truck yesterday at which time I was given the keys and told where to find the truck which was with the manager. Today the gentleman pulled up the truck, and went over everything very thoroughly. It was definitely a much better experience and customer service today

The truck was clean and staff friendly. I got the truck home and realized the dash said 0% oil life. So I called the uhaul rental place and was told no other trucks available and I should call roadside assistance. Roadside assistance was great but it took a few hours to get it done. So I never got to really use the truck. Ended up just being a waste of money

They did not know how to wire the hitch and told us to go to the Madison location to finish up the wiring. Upon Madison’s evaluation the Janesville location broke our plastic molding where the rear light is located on the inside of the vehicle and the Madison location told us that the Janesville location did it incorrectly and had to redo all the wiring. The Madison location said they did not need to try to remove the plastic molding to wire up the hitch. The Madison location was very helpful and gave us a claim number to call to get our damaged plastic molding replaced. What upset me the most is the Janesville location did not even mention that they broke the molding!!!

Your parking lot is full of HUGE potholes. This is very damaging to customers vehicles and to your trucks!

The lady was extremely rude. I had an appointment to pick up the load of wood we had and we arrived just to be told the trailer had a popped tire. They told me it would be a couple of hours. She told me I had to wait so I had to request a different trailer. Anyways we went round and round and finally left with a trailer that didn’t work

I requested to pick up the truck during after hours, which meant retrieving the keys from a lock-box. When I got there, I received an email stating the 24/7 key pickup was down and I had to wait for the business to open to be able to pick up my rental truck. I wanted to pick up the truck at 7 am since the store didn't open until 9 am on Sundays. I had family coming from 2 hours away to help which meant they had to get up at 4 am to be on the road at 5 am to be at my place by 7. They and everyone else I had lined up to help ended up standing around for 2 hours because we couldn't get the truck until 9 am. Very upsetting and disappointing. Once I got to the counter and vented my frustration, they did offer me a discount which was refunded to my card. The only saving grace to this fiasco.

One employee should not be expected to cover all of the equipment rentals and customers' needs.There was a long line, and everyone was waiting longer than they should have. The employee did his job very well, but there could have been a second employee to help with everyone's needs.

This location always has just 1 person working, it takes forever to get checked out. Guy tonight asked me to move my truck because he had equipment being returned (he didn't), too busy chit chatting to finish checking someone out, in the mean time I had enough time to check in my trailer on the mobile app. Then he had the audacity to skip over me and start another checkout instead of letting me buy my boxes so I left my boxes in the cart and walked out. This place's management obviously doesn't give a crap. Luckily this place is the only location in Janesville that sells boxes so you don't really have a choice and they know it.

Every time took over an hour to do anything. I never had a storage that I had to pay extra tho have 24 hour access to my own belongings. Very unsatisfied and won't use Uhaul again.

We had to go to another town because all the sudden the one we had reserved wasn’t available. Went to location we were told to by Tammy in Traffic and it was close!!. Turned out our location in Janesville had the truck we wanted anyway. What the heck? Also told we had 50 credit which has not been returned. It was a total mess! And why hasn’t the card used been credited?!!!!!
