I had reserved a cargo van. When I arrived to pick up the van, I was told they didn't have one and my choice was a 15 ft truck. They stated someone should have called me - But no one had. Aside from the fact that it was not what I had reserved, the truck was very hard to drive, steer, and even start. When I returned the truck the General Manager of the location was laying down on the sidewalk in front of the store near the customer service entrance while I was waiting on my receipt and another couple was walking in. The associates were all standing around talking and not very helpful.Reid R.

I want to pet the dog that was supervising truck rentals! (Seriously though, it was efficient and smooth in a way that other Uhaul truck rentals haven't been.) We did have an issue with a lock on the storage unit we'd rented, which took a while to sort out while we had movers on the clock - that wasn't the best. After reserving my unit online weeks ago. I arive with a full 26 ft truck and hired movers for 4 hours to help unload the truck only to find that when we arrived to the uhaul storage units that they did not infant have my previously reserved unit available. They did offer a unit a quarter of the size that was accessed above my head which is unrealistic to put large heavy furniture and would not even get close to storing the amount that I had. It all seemed completely unorganized and dishonest. It absolutely left me in a bind both financially and for time as we had traveled from out of state for the long weekend and had to return promptly. I was going to be out the $560 for the movers that had been hired and had no where to unload my truck. After getting in touch with the GM for the joplin location he stated he was unable to reimburse us for the lost hours of the movers. After 2 days and my recommendation to reimburse me for the $400+ charge of the truck he did do this, but it is still not a needed storage unit or the amount for the movers. I would never recommend hiring movers on uhaul website. Go directly to their website so uhaul gets no fees for their service and never get a storage unit here!Alex M.

Customer service at this location is some of the worst I have ever experienced as a patron anywhere and it is consistent. I work for a nonprofit and have a certificate through U-Haul because I rent a truck 1x/mo to deliver food to low-income seniors. To use my last 2 visits as an example, in April when I walked in to get my key (I do mobile checkout because otherwise I have literally waited almost an hour) and not one word was spoken to me. No "hello", "have a nice day", nothing. I told her why I was there, a female handed me a key, and that was it. The truck was not pulled to the side and instead I had to hunt through the lot for it. Like I said, I run 9mi roundtrip every month for over a year now, and have never had to put gas in the truck because it is such a short distance. Employee Brad Young checked me in and somehow what we pay $45 for every month turned into a $99.49 charge. When I asked him to review the mileage and charge he told me to contact his GM and literally walked away from the counter. Thankfully Denver Webb was there and straightened out the issue on the spot. This month, I reserved the truck the weekend before the Tuesday of pick up, completed my mobile check in and once again was instructed to go inside for the key instead of retrieving it from the lockbox. There was a female at the counter and she could not find the key to my rental. After over 10 min of searching the GM Schuylar came out of the bathroom and handed her a black hoodie that had the key in the pocket. Multiple times when I return the vehicle in the 6p hour I have to wait for the male employees to exit the bathroom or breakroom. Renting at this location takes a lot of time and causes a lot of frustration and I definitely tell folks who have to rent to avoid this location if at all possible. The only reason I don't is because I am on a strict non-profit budget and cannot afford to rent from the further locations.Brittany G.

Dishonest. They said I didn't fill the tank to where it was when I started and added $22 to the bill after I left. I called and said that I had a receipt for the gas I put in (drove only 10.5 miles). I was able to get a refund for the amount, but it was time consuming.Tanner J.

The people that worked there were really nice and understanding. They are a 5 âï¸. My problem was with my van, it was like bad or anything but there was definitely a little damage. Wheel bearing failed on the trailer, and they logged it as an accident. Clearly it's a failed bearing, so that should be equipment failure. Had to call for road side assistance twice. First time I stopped for gas, the gas fill tube was broken, and gas poured out from under truck. Wasted over 6 hours waiting for assistance, paid about $3000.00, and still got hit with a $27+ charge after dropping off, when I really should have gotten a discount for my trouble. But since we live under a facsist regime, us poor people exist to make sure the big globalist corporations are able to rape us of our money.Bruce A.

Van I reserved was not at location. Was given a larger truck, however then had to purchase insurance (which doubled cost) and was told only could get truck if I got back in less time than the 4 hours I requested. Rushed back but then gotta extra charged for a 5 mile total trip because gas marker was in middle of red. If I hadn't agreed to rush back with truck I would had no truck for the day.Justin G.

Reserved unit was not available upon arriving at location. Staff stated there were no units available and unsure why I was able to reserve a unit on line or over the phone the day before. A staff member walked the entire facility and stated if I was willing to wait a couple hours one may be available as there was a previous tenant moving out. I received a call a few hours later stating there was an open unit and I would have first priority to it. Staff handled the situation very well. My next issues deals with pricing of moving items at location. Prices on labels do not match what they ring up as. I’ve questioned this multiple times and even taken pictures showing that there is inaccurate pricing on the labels and shelves. I have never been offered an adjustment even when I have directly asked for it. I am just told that prices vary which is very, this is extremely frustrating expecting to pay one thing when it’s really 3-6$ more per item.Dustin M. | First Impressions

The space in front of my unit was dark and there was no light inside the unit. We moved units once to have a bigger space and during the moving, the employee gave false information and the unit was occupied. So, we moved to another one and the employee had to move a mini fridge that was being stored. After we were in, the next visit the access card did not work and had to get them reassigned to the right unit. These are all issues that were solved and not a huge deal, but the biggest problem was the dimly lit storage unit and hallway. I had to go to this unit often by myself, a woman, and I never felt comfortable or safe. We really had a bad time at this place. First of all, the homeless and weird people in and around the units always had us a little on edge. Then we just had issues with the lock being put on when we were paid up, them not having a unit on auto-pay.. one time we went in and someone cut the power and we were stuck in the bay.. umm, i had a card that was about to expire so they cut it off and charged me a late fee... umm there's more... it was non-stop at this storage facility. Not only did you make me believe my belongings were safe and secure, you lead me to believe I had piece of mind. Both the afore mentioned comments are false. My whole family stored our belongings in a u-haul facility, and because we made this mistake we are left with nothing. Every single item was stolen in broad daylight, while your employees watched. I have the only key card, part of your top notch security, yet somehow it was bypassed and intruders gained entry to my unit. I purchased my keys from you, yet other people had the same keys. The video recording obviously was not functioning because if it had been, this would have been resolved already. So, in conclusion, my experience with u-haul was the nightmare i wake up to daily. Precious belongings that can never be replaced have vanished and your doing nothing. I have waited for over three weeks for a response and so far, other than the general manager of the joplin 7th Street location next to wal mart, accusing me of stealing my own things and being anything but helpful I have not heard or seen anything to facilitate or remedy this horrendous tragedy. When I was moving my stuff in. There was a couple hanging out in or in front of their unit in the hallway. I was on my way back out to get another load when I came around the corner, I startled the couple & the smell of paint about knocked me out. I couldn't get outside to the fresh air quick enough before I thought I would choke to death. Since this facility is supposed to be monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week that behaviour was very upsetting cause they are not only putting their life endanger they also put mine as well. And they werent the only people I saw or definately could smell what they were doing either. Not sure if I will keep my belongings in this facility very long. For over three weeks one of the two bay doors to pull in and unload has been broken did talk to front desk with no results. Asked for a specific locker number because it was close to the loading area and was moving big heavy furniture without much help and was told it was rented and for a month no one ever moved into the locker you can tell by the tag on the door. Went to rent a truck and was told none are available when the lot was literally full of trucks. It seems like staff is honestly just lazy. Storage unit had many bugs inside and mice droppings/urine. We did not have any food items stored in the unit. When asked, management said it was our problem. Recently, we were notified that during an inspection they found that our unit no longer had a lock on it. They said they would place a lock on it and that we needed to visit the office the next time we were in to get it unlocked. When we visited the office they did not have a key. No one had actually secured the unit. The worker also informed me that there was no way anyone could actually cut my lock off without ruining their door (it was a special storage unit lock, circular, and a combination lock). It is a mystery how it disappeared, but did not make me feel very safe. Fortunately, we did not see any missing items.emily f. | Overall Experience
I was forced to pay for the whole month of a storage unit when I used only 14 days of the month. When I originally paid for the month(because they don't offer weekly rates) they said i wold be prorated and refunded the excess since I wouldn't be using the whole month. I moved out. Didnt get any money back then was told it was too bad. My loss. When they can rent the unit for the remainder of the 2 weeks and still have the money I paid for those 2 weeks.
