Meri Payne (Lanham, MD facility manager) has always been terrific. She stands out as one of not only your best employees (I've dealt with many, many U-Haul employees over the years, usually for equipment rentals), but one of the best facility managers and customer relations people I've ever met, PERIOD. I do not now her personally, I simply know how she's treated me over the past 3.5 years and she's terrific. Re. U-box employees. Generally, a good experience. The billing got a little weird; the fees were misapplied at first (computer error, I was later told), but folks like Jennifer (MD driver/dispatcher) and Chas (MD dispatcher) were very good, very thorough! The former was very invested doing her job well and thus made sure to stay in contact. I greatly appreciated it. I conferred with the latter to clean up my additional account needs; she was very supportive and effective.Russell K.

Fraud alert! I believe this rental experience is fraudulent. I was charged improperly and incorrectly. I went into 5055 pan America blvd to settle issue. Jamie was rude and did not want to help me. She was trying to change my mood and get me worked up by telling me I was disrespectful while in fact she knew they messed up. I have never received service this poor from Uhaul. The truck was dirty, filled with wood chips that we had to clean out before we could use it. The check engine light was on, the pictures of the truck for us to approve were not the pictures of the truck we were assigned, and the gas tank was 1/4 full, forcing us to fill a tank before we got started on our busy move. This is the second time we have rented from this location to have a dirty truck that we had to clean before we could use it.BRUCE S.

Upon arriving make sure rentals have been cleaned of pollen from dashboard, disinfectant prior to pickup without having to call to someone's attention then waiting for cleaning have to be done; have enough staff available to support pickups when checking vehicles out! Thank you,HATTIE T.

This store always has bad costumer service, manners. I ask the guy to put the employee code to get a discount and he didn't take it. No cash accepted and I have to go pick up the truck. Uhaul in chillum and new Hampshire the truck is park in front for you. This employee just want to sit, relax and use their cellphone. Foe return, I walk to store and they just want me to leave the keys in the box so the 3 employee can continue to chill and talk and be on the phone. I ask again to get employee discount and the guy in charge with grey shirt said "I never hear of discount for employee" so.how is it possible to have a manager in site that don't want to do his job, uneducated and getting his check. At 1st I've made reservation to get the storage as well u-haul truck but when I arrived at the storage a young lady was helping me and never finished the processed regarding to have the key for the storage but gave me the car key for the track, however when I came back another young lady was helping me but couldn't find my info & it took her almost half an hour or maybe more to do the process so I can get the storage key & my time was limited at the time & both us was frustrated but the young man with the dreads who was doing almost everything going in the storage was helpful but not the ladies & as of community leader I was late 2do community work, in the end I was happy it was over & the purpose of reservation is to have everything done before arrival & that didn't happen & I was told a limited time to return the truck, so pls take care of the matters & hoping u all well in this very difficult time thxabdifatkah m. | First Impressions

The young man with dreads that was doing everything in the store was very helpful and very friendly but the ladies was kind of the different because when I arrived I've already had reservation but one lady never process or finished the paperwork and I was stuck there for 30 minutes or more to get what I want, The purpose of having reservation is to be Inn & out the store unless is busy but that didn't happen, As a matter of fact we set in the store in about 10 to 15 minute to just get service & u check the camera for yourself to make sure what I said is accurate...thxABDIFATAH M.

I rented a vehicle Sunday, 11 April, returning vehicle same day to same location. Contract #25208712. I received a bill for $86 via email same day, charging to my credit card. Which was my expected cost. I just received another email bill today charging my credit card (without authorization) another $125 stating I just turned the vehicle in today (3 days later!). I want these additional charges removed immediately. Like, today or I will seek legal council to deal with it. These are very unscrupulous business practices.James W.

The customer service representative explained that the delay in getting the vehicle ready was due to the vehicle's interior had to be sanitized because it was just returned by another customer. The exterior of the vehicle was not cleaned, because I needed to leave. He noted the dirty exterior in the rental notes.REGINALD W.

I was told I would get a call 2 days prior to notify time of delivery of U-box; however that didn't happen and was given different times the day before. On actual delivery date, I had to call around and finally got a hold of actual delivery person. Communication was also poor when U-box was picked up especially since I wanted to return all of the furniture pads I didn't use so had to make a trip out to physical store to just return. Upon return l was really disappointed. I pulled up to the equipment return during normal business hours and no one was there. I had a question that needed to be addressed. I sat in the equipment return line for about ten minutes, while also calling the store from inside the van. It said estimated wait time was over twenty minutes. I go inside the store and no one is there. For a few minutes. The store is unlocked, it's 3 in the afternoon and no one is at the front desk, behind in the employees office... nothing. Around twenty minutes after, someone was finally in the office and because some other customer went in the store before I got back inside the one employee behind the desk now just â€˜hurried' me out and said just leave your keys on the seat. Only person who graciously helped that day was a woman with the last name Bussey (?). This location though gives me very disorganized and unprofessional. For mobile pickup, u-haul should designate zones so anyone can see which zone the truck is in and not have to walk/drive the entire lot. Also it would be nice if any accessories purchased beforehand were already placed in the rental truck and did not need to be taken from the counter and carried to the truck.Marcus M.

When I arrived the representative was on the cell phone. As I approached, she paused her conversation and though she asked how can she help, I since she was not very much into customer service. Why do I say that? When I asked about prices and space sizes, she simply pointed from a seated position rather that getting up and directing me. After signing the agreement, she handed me my paper and gave me unclear directions as to where my storage room was located. Most of all, she didn't explain to me that I need the access card to get into the building. I actually didn't notice the access card till she caught my attention as I was walking away and she said I needed it to get into the storage area. It took me a while to find my storage locker and when I returned to ask about rather there were elevators in the facility, she paused a cell phone conversation and gave me the look of, "now what does he want?" She could have explained from the beginning that my locker was on the second level and there were no elevators or ramps to get there, only stairs.mark c. | First Impressions

The registration agent at the facility rude and dismissive and the employee that was on staff w/ her first 7 minutes of my intake was spent trying to tell her that I wasn't there to pick up a truck. She refused to except information from my registration for the storage space, after an exhausting 7 minutes we began the process to secure my space. We get to the space there's a green tag on the door I cut the tag a deafening sound blared over for 3 mins. Now we make it back to the truck while we are off loading a staff member comes thru not once but three (3) times(each time he came through he found something laugh about or make a commit) to to tell us the large sliding door will lock at 7 and all moving will be thru the small door. This was undeniably unreasonable request that brought on a toxic level of stress to beat the clock. We did just that packed the unit wrestler the required lock we were forced to purchase despite the fact we came w/a lock for the unit. What if we didn't have the money to support the forced purchase. You are dealing with induvial that are in tight situations make quick move under direst to force people to purchase a lock that truly doesn't properly fit the unit it took two people to close the unit one to fit the small facing into the hole and force the key to close and the other to level the door so that the lock fits yet another example of unnecessary stress added when dealing with the facility. So we are done, unit is closed then we remembered we needed to get an item . We unlock the unit that deafening sounds starts and never stops, we scrambled to find the item the was sound blaring it distorted us we couldn't think after leaving the facility we had head pain that was unbelievable.
