My experience with this Uhaul location was horrible. I had reserved 2 dollies and upon check in, I was told no dollies were available. I was then given the keys to the Uhaul but then was told it had no gas. Once I checked the gas I saw the needle was below the E symbol and was scared to leave the Uhaul station due to fear of the truck running out of gas. I requested another truck from the manager and was told that I would have to still pay the same amount for a 20 foot truck. I expressed frustration to the manager that I reserved my truck in advance and it had no dollies or gas. The manager then responded â€œOh well this happens all the time, theres nothing I can do.â€ I received the truck 30 mins late and had to pay my movers additional money because we arrived late with the truck. THe staff is very pleasant. This is the second time that I have rented a truck and it not be available at this location. I have settled for less size of a truck twice now. Even though the website says I should receive a $50 credit, I have not. This truck rented had a damaged lock that prevented it from being used, a broken gas meter and was missing the key for the padlock in the back. I have been a long time u haul customer and this will not stop me from using you again, Nicole, Alice and all the gals do a very nice job.Don P.

I was there for hours trying to get the right storage number that was available, long line, staff was not knowledgeable or trained right, they gave me a card key that till this day doesn’t work right so the alarm sounds every time I access the storage because I don’t have the time or patience to stand in line another hour for them to try and fix it again.JOSEPH R. | First Impressions
Horrible! You can not knowingly rent out trucks with known gas leaks putting your customers lives in danger and then try and charge the customer for it!CAMILLE C.
1) They do not have a drop box for keys after hours. I walked around the facility for almost an hour trying to locate it in the dark by myself. I literally could not drive home back to the Bay Area because I couldn't return the key. No one warned me and I had to miss work the next morning because of it. To say I was furious is an understatement. When I called the 800 number it took an hour for them to call me back. And when they did it immediately disconnected us. 2) I was using the mobile app but it wasn't working causing me to have to wait in line for 40mins to get my truck. they originally had me to assigned car that was broken which I wouldn't have known unless I had gone in. 3) The new van they assigned me did not have the supplies I ordered in it and I ended up having to drive back to get them. 4) They gave me a $20 dollar refund which is nice, but clearly not enough for everything I had to deal with. 5) all but one employee seemed incredibly miserable and indifferent. 6) Oh and the new van they assigned me was acting up the entire time I drove itâ€¦ yeah.Stephanie C.

Said I could not rent unless I paid a balance of $361 for someone whose name I have never heard. If I didn't pay then I could not rent a truck. Well in these Covid times getting another truck last minute is just not going to happen. I was left no choice but to pay the bill and then turn it in as fraud to hopefully be reimbursed. It was very upsetting because they had no proof that I was the one who rented a truck and left a balance and to come out of pocket for $361 on top of moving expenses left me not feeling good. So now I am in the process of trying to settle this matter. Another headache to deal with that was not of my doing. People are so incompetent at perform small tasks or following through to completion.JENNIFER L.

My experience with U-Haul boxes was terrible. The boxes did not arrive by the guaranteed date. After multiple phone calls in 2 or 3 days, waiting on hold for long periods, getting transferred to different departments, no one could tell me anything. Two times someone was supposed to call me back, but no one called. When the moving company went to pick up our boxes, the U-Haul employee couldn't find one of them. So, the movers delivered and unpacked 2 of the 3 boxes, then had to go back for the third box, which still had to be found. Of all the people I spoke to, the only person who seemed to care was Pam at the call center on Phoenix. All the other people I spoke to, before speaking to Pam, didn't seem too interested in helping. The whole experience was bad. I would suggest that U-Haul get rid of the guaranteed arrival date. That would probably reduce the number of angry customers in the stores and calling, and would save U-Haul money they pay out for not meeting the guaranteed date. I would never recommend U-Haul boxes to anyone. I did not deal with the Natomas location, so my review about that location is not based on anything.Renee C.

Every person I talked to, whether on the phone or the people dropping off the containers were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The service as a whole was pretty bad though. My final charge receipts keep changing, so I now need to sit down and sort through them all to make sure I was charged correctly. But the biggest thing was being told that you all lost my U-Box. From getting a call saying they had my box here in National City so I could schedule my movers to suddenly having no idea where our stuff was. Being charged $250 for the mover cancellation fee which is not covered by U-Haul, only the $50 a day for it being missing. That $50 a day should be in addition to the $250, not as a "it should cover it" policy. Then after a week, us wondering how we're going to replace everything to it suddenly showing up again. We were without our stuff for a month, everything in the box was pretty radically shifted, and the compensation for the worry of the whole process was not enough. I appreciate U-Haul offering a service to emulate what Pods is doing, but the infrastructure seems to still need a lot of work. I will not be using this service again, and will vehemently tell our friends/family to avoid the service as well.Alexander P.

There was some dirt inside the cab not much just didn't look like it had been vacuumed in a couple trips. The dolley and furniture blankets usually zip tied in the back had not been replaced from the last trip. Also when I arrived and completed online checkin I head to the counter to get the keys, there ends up being about 15 people in there waiting and no employee in sight. About 15 minutes later an employee came from outside the back of the store, my checkin key had vanished and my only options were to return truck so I wasn't given the option to document mileage/gas level or approve any exterior photos.DERICK W.

When I picked up the truck the rep said it has a quarter tank. When she brought it out she then said it was siphoned. I put $160 of gas in the truck.. ( I have the receipts) I drove 169 miles. You can't tell me that truck gets 5 mpg??? I think the fuel guage was totally out of whack resulting in being over charged.DAVID K.

Horrible experience I paid close to $3000 to get my stuff moved no communication when they came and picked it up they picked it up at 9:30 at night and then when they dropped it off at the location it was a Thursday they said let us know when you're done I'll let them know Friday morning and told them that my car was parked on the street which was illegal the pod was in my carport area can you please pick it up they did not pick it up until Monday thankful for the police and parking enforcement having lenience on me because I just moved here horrible experience I will never recommend U-Haul or will I ever use U-Haul again customer service is a jokeTrever C.

The gentleman was very polite. The problem is he installed my hitch with the pin through the reducer sleeve only. Not through the receiver on the truck. So the trailer pulled out the hitch going down the highway. I should've checked it. I figured he had done this multiple times. I've learned my lesson.David W.

We came to the location to pick up the truck and the size truck we requested was unavailable. I asked if they had another size truck available and was offered a smaller truck. We took the truck and it was not clean but we had no choice but to take it. When returning the truck we went into the office and there was bo employees available. We waited about 15 minutes before someone arrived. The employees were young and inexperienced. They needed support from management that clearly was unavailable. I suggest you get a better management team to give these young employees the proper training.LARRY C.

We used online to check in. We checked our vehicle and proceeded to the front desk for the key where we were told they gave the key to someone else. I had walked to the truck then to the front office then back to get my dolly I left at my truck rental while 7 months pregnant. I was clearly upset at the entire situation and the girl at the desk was rude and unapologetic for the mix up. So what was the point of online check in if they give away the truck anyways?! Then my receipt still lists the wrong truck on my invoice. Now on my bank statement I have an unknown charge but was told it should drop off even though there isn't an invoice to go with the charge. I hate this location even though it is closest to me and will travel out of my way to avoid going here again.Heather O.
Why am I required to fill up the tank when I got the tank on Empty? I paid 202 for the re tal plus 98.00 to fill up the tank. At least fill up the tank or not expect the tank to be full. As always, if my tank isn't filled then I'd be charged 5.00 a gallon? This doesn't make any senseISAIAS N.

I believe I was overcharged. I extended my rental for 3 hours and was charged and additional insurance fee of $14.00, as well as an additional truck rental fee of $19.95. Further an additional charge of $41.52 was posted to my bank account 3 days later. When I paid for the truck rental I was told that the card swiping machine was not working and that my card number would have to be run manually. I am now concerned that my card number was retained and is being used fraudulently. I spoke with "Michael" in customer service today who insisted that the extra charges were due to the difference between what was held on my card and what ended up being charged. This makes no sense. Please review these transactions, and provide me with an investigation report.REBECCA M.
