The vehicle we requested (10 cube van) was not safe to drive across country from Ontario to BC. The tires were virtually bald and we were told they were in the safe range and that is why we purchase insurance. Nope they were not and we refused to accept a vehicle that would not meet snow and winter conditions. Then we were offered a larger truck for the same price, had to take it due to our sale of our house closing next day and had not other choice. New 15 foot van check engine light was on, went in to notify the problem and were told this is ok and van is safe, so I took pictures and they reset the check engine light. Made our first leg of our journey to Sault Ste. Marie and found out that the oil was black, the washer fluid line was broken and taped multiple times, but did not work, windshield wipers were summer rated and worked poorly in snow / icy conditions and we ended being delayed in Sault St. Marie for and extra 3 hours in the morning while repairs were made to the vehicle as the vehicle was not road safe. Very unimpressed. Manager of this location was unavailable at pick up, and young employee did his best to help us. Employee phoned manager several times on our behalf and manager kept saying everything was ok and met UHaul standards. I do not believe this vehicle was serviced and I believe this location allows people to take unfit vehicles and then left to customer to "fix" damages through insurance. If we had not been closing our house the next day, we would have walked away from UHaul and figured something else out. The extra money we had to spend on gas for this larger vehicle, we could have had our items shipped through a moving company. Lesson learned.DESTINYRAYE W.

I was charged for one extra day, As per the agreement, I was given till 6:30 pm to return vehicle and I received text, which mentioned time till 6:30 pm on March 28, because of location change for pick up, I was given extra day, but ended up paying for second day, phone call to U haul drop off location didn't help.Zamir P.
When picking up the trailer we specifically asked if the trailer was free from leaks because there was a heavy rainfall forecast. We were assured that the unit would not leak. Unfortunately when we unloaded the contents at our destination there was a significant amount of water inside. We had an antique wooden table that was soaked, two carpets with significant water on them and a number of other items with lesser amounts of water. The water was coming in from the front, around the seal of the rear door, and up from floor between floor panels. Perhaps dealers could periodically pressure wash the equipment to check for leaks.Helen T.
Great customer service here. Left my prescription glasses in the vehicle. Contacted them to ask if they were found. They didn't find them during the initial drop off inspection. Other than the front window being really dirty from something that was sprayed on it, which was also on the steering wheel... the over all cleanliness was good. A girl called me and asked if I was able to return the truck early. I was kind of hoping for a bit of a break on the rate since I agreed to return it earlier than agreed on. No luck this time. I bought a van for towing other my small car and i brought my two cars to the Uhaul for inspection for that 40 days ago. They said it is available to tow so I suppose to borrow a dolly. But then they called me before 2 days ago I leave from Ontario to BC, and they said it is not available that van can't tow the other car. Just 2 days ago before I leave to long distance moving. So i left my car at my friend's house and i borrowed a trailer at the Uhaul it was almot 700 dollars. But my actual amount was 466 dollars if I borrowed the dolly. But they didn't even discount for the trailer even though it is their falt. They didn't anything just said sorry. That is all. And they said it can happen. Wow.PAUL K.

I've had a few issues with this uhaul location and I probably won't be back. I rented a motorcycle trailer. When I went to return it the next morning not only did it take over half hour for them to return it, they tried charging me for two days when I didn't even have it for 24 hours(which was corrected). Later that day I called in to reserve and enclosed trailer. I told the girl on the phone that my father in law was coming to pick it up for me, He doesn't know what he's doing so please just put the $8 insurance on and he will sign for it. she said no problem and said they would have the trailer out and ready for 545. When my father in law came to get the trailer, not only was it not ready it was still buried in snow. My father in law ended up digging the snow out so she could put it on the truck, which took almost 45 min. When I went return the trailer the next day they ended up charging me for the more expensive insurance even though I specifically asked for the $8 insurance on the phone. The guy asked the lady and she said once it's selected I have to pay for the insurance that was selected.. I was extremely pissed off and got into an argument with the lady. I didn't really about the cost of the more expensive insurance because it was only $10 extra but it was just issue after issue after issue with this place. No issues with the rentals itself it just seems likes some of the staff are incapable of doing their jobs correctly.MARKA S.

The truck went into malfunction throughout the trip. The manager at the location did not take any responsibility for the fact this truck was not fully operational and should have been serviced prior to the trip. He blamed me for not returning it. But this is why I continued the trip which was a long one. When the service lights went on (which scared me as I was driving and seeing it all come on!), I pulled into a gas station to call U-Haul and let them know about the issue. The kind gentleman who I dealt with said, I know it sounds crazy but if I just gassed up then open the gas cap and then close it again. This happens he says and this is how to fix it. So I did what he suggested but eventually the service panel lights all came on again...saying, service airbag (which really frightened me) and tires etc. I called them again to let them know this did not fix it. I was afraid that headlights which were flickering would turn off eventually which I needed driving into country roads at night. When the service lights came on, the radio shut off, the clock and the signals. On the return trip, the truck did not turn on at all at one stop, so that's when I called road side assistance. I did not explain to the manager that his employee said that 'this happens' and to 'fix it by opening the gas cap and closing it again'. When I went to pick the truck up for the trip, the employee gave me the necessary paperwork and highlighted the roadside assistance number. I have used U-Haul before and I don't recall being told about roadside assistance and didn't have issues with the vehicles. The number for roadside assistance number that the employee highlighted was actually the claims number which I called but found out it was the incorrect number. I called U-Haul to let them know that this was the claims number and they said there is a number underneath it. Well, that number is so small and I found out when I returned the truck that the employees were highlighting the wrong number. I would like some compensation for this trip. I think I experienced a lot of stress and felt I was in danger as the last road side assistant personnel acknowledged, who offered a stay at a hotel for the night which I didn't find out about until I got home. I didn't pick up the phone because the traffic was heavier and it is not handsfree.Susanne W.
I had a really bad experience with uhaul truck rental Niagara Falls on February 1st. First of all positive things, truck was well cleaned and tidy. Negatives as follows I asked for the road side assistance since the truck stuck at the snow they said they were unable to help because it wasn't an accident,this kind of experience is not acceptable even I payed the insurance.I waited for almost 3 hours for help nothing happened . The key drop off process is long and a bit onerous to do without expecting it. I was alone with my friend much longer than we wanted to be. I wouldn't recommend UHaul in general - the location was fine (employees and the maintenance of the location were great). I ordered a 26' truck but couldn't find on the website the actual dimensions of the truck, so I understood that I was getting a 26' truck. My truck was ~22' long. After my rental, I called and was informed by the UHaul representative that the dimensions are hidden at the bottom of the website. This is a dishonest practice in hiding the information. It should be quite apparent to the customer that the truck bed is shorter than 26' and that the mom's attic is where the additional footage is located. I was unable to move all my belongings because the truck wasn't actually 26' on the bed. I ordered a 26' truck because I needed 26' in length. The truck also revved incredibly high (4-5RPM) and was therefore very poor on fuel economy. In terms of equipment and company transparency, I am very disappointed and will not be recommending UHaul because of this experience.Eleanor P.

The guy jacob or whatever his name was, was not friendly at all. And if I didn't have my stuff with me ready to move in, I would have found another storage. First, he talked very condescending, this was my first time in the facility and when I asked him where to go, his comment was, ''obviously, its this way down the hall.''. Who talks to customers like that? The word obviously should not be in someone's vocabulary who is in customer service. And then I wanted to add my spouse to the storage and he gave me a hard time about doing that, because my spouse was in another country. Once my spouse called on the phone and requested a manager, then all of a sudden, it wasn't a problem. The only issue was a big one at the beginning when I set up automatic payment but for some reason it didn't start and I received very strongly worded notices of non-payment and my contact person was called at work, which was upsetting and alarming for all involved. From what I understand this happens fairly often because of long delays in processing payment information since head office is in another country (USA). That was very disappointing. There were no lockers that large so I rented the largest locker that location had. It wasn't large enough do I had to rent a second locker at full price.
