Maintenance on the truck I rented was concerning as the steering on my 26ft truck was not aligned and the truck was somewhat difficult to steer down the highway (especially with full load) and maneuver around time as it had a significant pull to the left.William B.

When I went to U-Haul to pick up my reservation, the employee working at the counter appeared to have brought her child to work. The child seemed to be around the age of 2 and was clearly struggling with being there. The employee turned her attention to the child a few times while I was there waiting in line and also when I was being waited on. I had to ask twice how to get my items I had purchased online with my reservation and the child was distracting the employee by crying, asking for her blanket, and touching the supplies behind the counter. There appeared to be another person there entertaining the child on the floor as well, which I don't feel was appropriate for a place of business. Lastly, when I was given my key, another employee pointed me in the direction of the truck and I was grateful to know where it was. However, there was another truck parked right behind the one I was supposed to take and this employee never took the time to offer to move it or even acknowledge that there was absolutely no way to get my reserved truck from the spot it was in. I had to walk back inside and wait longer in line. I was given the key to the truck the was accessible so the switch was easy, but the experience was inconvenient and less than good.Ashley N.

However, the lady who called me after I dropped off my trailer was rude, her name was Tracy (207-844-6068) and I don't believe she was from the Bangor or machias location. The number said New Brunswhich Maine. I believe her number was from the New Brunswick office. I found the Bangor and Machias locations to be kind and respectful. The Tracy lady, who called was awful. We did pickup at Odlin Road Maine. I'm giving 5 stars because the fella there was doing his best despite circumstance (He was the ONLY employee at the whole place, was helping everyone, had to clean and prep ALL the trucks himself I believe his name was Matthew R.) and I greatly appreciate that. I blame Uhaul for not properly staffing its location and redirecting our pickup along with other folks to the location with only the single poor employee there to help. (line was 10 people deep of irritable people that he didn't deserve to deal with). I ask you properly staff your locations or avoid redirecting so many pickups to understaffed locations. Despite skeleton crews these days people aren't kind to service/retail people. The fella/Matthew is a real one and deserves a promotion or raise for managing it all by himself and keeping things moving.Thomas C.
The stereo was broken - it was stuck on the "set clock" so I couldn't tune the radio station. The check-in process was smooth but the return process was stressful. The only thing that I want to bring to your attention is the RED BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH STAYED ON AND THE DIN DING DING BUZZER TO WARN OF A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP DINGING THE ENTIRE SEVERAL HOURS THAT I DROVE THAT 26 foot box truck. Also, there is a very serious SKIPPING in the ENGINE and I do not know if the FUEL FILTER IS CLOGGED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR ELSE THE ENGINE NEEDS A COMPLETE TUNE UP BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING VERY WELL, AT ALL AND SKIPS TERRIBLY. The WINDSHIELD WASHED FLUID WAS TOTALLY EMPTY AND THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON 1/8th tank and when I started the truck and checked the fuel level, the FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE WAS ON THE LIW SIDE BELOW E FOR EMPTY. I LEFT OVER 1/4the tank of fuel in the truck when I returned it as your counter sakes associate asked for me to leave the tank 1/4 full which I left much more that that for fuelSTEVE L.
The people working at this location were helpful, but my overall experience was horrible. My appointment to have my hitch installed was cancelled without notifying me. When I tried to reschedule the appointment I probably spent and hour on hold total. When I picked up my trailer, the running lights were not checked and I realized once I was on the road that one of the running lights was out. Also, one of the tires was worn down to the threads. Lied to me! Very unprofessional! Brought truck back to the wrong location told me it was OK to leave it there didn't tell me they were going to change me a extra day. If they would have told me they would change a extra day l would have brought it to the other one 5 miles away! This was a nightmare experience in which your customer service sent me to another location, promising to cover the extra gas mileage, only to try and hit me with a charge over $600 when I returned the truck. I refused to pay it because it is incorrect, so the frustrated worker who could not handle the pressure, let me know how miserable he was that I needed his help. His supervisor was also unable to help, and flustered. They needed a manager named Adam to come and assist, but no one could get a hold of him. They finally managed to get dispatch to lower the price to about $200, which I refused to pay because the price should have been zero. Frustrated that I wouldn't give them $200 for no reason, they told me to go ahead and leave, and they would handle the situation. About a week later I got a bill for the full $600. I won't be paying it. I will be suing U-HaulDana W.

I've had no problems the couple times I've rented a truck. The guys are always wonderful. However, I so frustrated with the storage side of the business. I only had the van for a couple hours and only drove 8 miles to pick up some furniture and put it in my storage unit that I've had since last fall. I had asked about getting into the storage and he gave me a security card since I was not given one that I ever remember having. So when got there i see 3 keypads. I read every sign a few times to see which pad I needed to use. They all appeared the same with no distinguishing rules that stood out. I swiped my card and it wouldn't work. So I did it again. And again. So then I hit the call button as instructed on the directions. I did that many times with no results. I tried calling but the call forwarded out of state so I finally just walked in because my helper needed to leave. After they left, I went through all those same procedures again. No reply from the call button after hitting it many times. I tried calling again and finally ellie answered. I was already irritated and I did not want to deal with her after the chaos she caused me a few months when she contacted me to inform me that my storage open and empty. That's a other sad customer service story. She never even vetoed any info at all before sending me that email. I literally had just paid my storage rent 2 hours before she emailed me. So many errors and I still don't think any of you really understand how that was a traumatic thing to hear because of the hell I was going through while all our belongings sat in 2 storage units. I easily could have suffered serious health issues when getting that news. It was shitty and no one ever apologized. So now back to this shitty day. Ellie walks over and says oh it works and tells me I can't use the key pad I was using like I should have known that. That system gives zero instructions and is soooo ridiculous. No clear instructions at all and then making me look like an idiot and that pisses me off beyond words. Ellie acknowledges that there is no instructions and they are all aware of this issue but still your company doesn't care about frustrating and pissing off your customers and make no attempts at fixing that. My install granite countertops for a living and my truck needed a repair that put it in the shop for a full day. It is not a repair that afforded me a loaner. I instantly thought of U Haul. (I drive by the Odlin rd location every day.) I stopped in and told them that I needed a truck for one day for about 100 miles round trip. They had exactly what I needed and I was out the door with keys in hand in less than 15 minutes!!!! The guy that waited on me was great! He reminded me a few times not to forget to put gas in it before I dropped it off because he didn't want to see me have to pay the bill for not gassing it up before I dropped it off. (MOST companies in the rental business hope you forget so they can bill your card extra for it) Great company, great location, great guy that helped me!! It's always busy which is a good thing. However, the online reservations need to do a better job confirming reservations with customers because it makes it hard on the local stores because they don't always have the information sent to them. It causes hard feelings fir the customer and makes it hard for the local store. U-haul rented me a parking spot in their parking lot for $65 per month. U-haul deducted $65 from my account for 24 months. Someone cut the catalytic converter off my passenger van. U-haul said they're not responsible because they don't rent parking spaces in their parking lot. If that is the case then why did U-haul rent me the spot and why did U-haul take money out of my account each month? Karen should be removed from her position effective immediately for treating me so badly. I have a fatal disease called ALS and live in a house with a garage door opener to which I have a remote to and I also have 10 animals and Karen lied and said I was living there when I have a house and a garage remote and 10 animals. She even lied to the cops and lied that was attacking her and threatening her. What was I going to charge her with my walker. She wasted my time and gave me emotional distress and refused me a full refund and went too far. She will be hearing from my attorney and should be gravely ashamed of herself for the way she treated a dying person. Then to send me a letter in my email saying I hope u continue to use uhaul. Once again, the people at UHAUL make all the difference. If they were not so great and I had to use UHaul's website, I would not use Uhaul. The website is so awful, but in 3 different cities, the people have made up for it.Kathy G. | First Impressions
