The customer service portion of this location was great and professional but the maintenance of the U-Haul that I picked up and received was so completely unacceptable that I am lucky That I did not have a tire blowout on me and cause an accident or even worse have me or someone else injured or killed there was a grapefruit size knot on the inner passenger side tire I drove from Florida to New York and over mountains and even pulled a trailer for you people and you did not even have the tires on the vehicle inspected that is so unprofessional and unacceptable you guys have a set up to have the vehicle looked over and approved but no one apparently thinks to look at the tires which are the most important part of the vehicle I have a picture of the tire for a reference if need be I am very lucky by the grace of God that nothing happened to that tire during my move I have used U-Haul many times and have always had great experiences but apparently from now on I will have to check all the tires myself before I ever get in another one of y'allâ€˜s vehicles!!isahiah C.

This was a nightmare experience all the way through. They chose a trailer for us then hooked up and it had no license plate on it so we unhooked trailer and the helper pick another one and we hooked it up again and made us go inside to Customer Service to get equipment switched in computer and waited in line for 45 minutes for the lady at the counter to tell us that we can't use the one that the helper hooked up for us. So she assigned a third trailer to us and we hooked up to that one and was hooking it up with the rudest helper named Caleb acting like we were inconveniencing him. Customer service was a joke and my card had been charged on 3 separate occasions for this contract without my authorization and for more than what was agreed. The truck fuel was at 1/2 tank when I picked it up. Your agent said bring it back at same level. I did but when I got Statement you charged me for 2 gallons. I protest! Also I had an agreement to extend by one day an return at 5:00pm. I was billed for 3 days vs 2. After complaining you returned the $39.95 but I couldn't determine if this was taxed.Michael L.

The lady assisting us said maybe 10 words aside from â€œthey're not checked inâ€ in the 30-45 mins we were there. This is a phrase we heard a lot said to us and other customers by the two ladies that were there at the time of our pick up on Thursday 10/27 around 8am. We had the older lady who seemed pretty frazzled and like she had more important things to be doing. The younger lady kept needing assistance trying to take care of her customers which kept us there even longer. We did the reservation 2 weeks in advance. We originally rented a 20' truck and they only had a 26' available which we didn't discover until we got to the truck. This was never communicated. This caused parking issues at our previous home and the new one resulting in the cab hanging out into the road while we loaded and unloaded. Not to mention the extra weight/length cost us more in gas and made it more difficult to drive for our 7 hour drive to south Florida. We rented a furniture Dolly and they didn't have any available. She told us she had three appliance dollys in the back, but we couldn't have them because â€œthey have not been checked inâ€. I asked if she could check them in and she made a big deal and was walking back and forth so I told her to just forget it if it's going to cause a problem. She took a personal phone call while assisting us and didn't even say anything like excuse me or I have to take this. She just took it. The two ladies there were pretty rude and dismissive. They just kept saying â€œit's not checked inâ€ to us and the other customers like it's our fault that they had not done their job. We rented these items because we needed them. We reserved them in advance. How can they not have them available? They were telling us and other customers where we could go pick up said items we reserved in advance to be at this location and made it seem once again that it is our problem and if we want them, we the paying customers, have to go out of our way get them. Also when we were leaving, she highlighted 3 things and handed me the papers and's keys and said go find the truck. We get there after walking around the parking lot and there were no furniture pads so we had to walk all the way back in and she said oh sorry just grab them. They're by the door. Definitely not a good start to our morning. I am not usually the type to request compensation or even complain, but this whole situation with your associates at UHAUL caused us extra money and stress and took up almost a whole extra hour of our day. We have used this facility numerous times renting uhaul trucks but yesterday rented a storage unit. The staff member was extremely friendly but not knowledgeable at all on typing skills, didn’t know how an offer currently running worked, confused the entire time she was talking with us. On top of all that she directed us to the wrong storage unit on the map. Then on top of that we come back after store closes to put our stuff in the storage unit and we can’t access the building because she never issued us an access card. Then tried calling the after hours manager and the phone just rang and rang and the n voicemail was full. Everything went very well, and that was due to 2 factors. First, UHaul equipment (truck and auto trailer) are top notch. Very safe and very reliable. Second, and most importantly, your assistant manager at the Panama City location saved the day. You see, I reserved the truck, trailer, and a storage unit on August 8th, with the assumption that all would be available on the dates designated for the move (Aug 31st and Sep 1st). The equipment was ready on the 31st, and I arrived in Panama City on the 1st only to hear that the storage unit was not available. Apparently, your computer system assumed that I intended to move my things into the storage unit 3 weeks before I would pick up the truck to move the stuff in the first place. If I could make that happen I wouldn’t have needed the truck. I could have clicked my heels like Dorothy and presto, me and my belongings would have appeared on Aug 8th, when I made the reservations. Your assistant manager worked magic in finding a storage unit, on site, for me. His customer service skills and professionalism were outstanding in every respect. I’m in retail management, and I know when someone makes their company look good no matter what. This gentleman did exactly that. But he should have never been put in that position in the first place. When your customer is moving, it’s best to assume that he/she will need a reserved storage unit upon their arrival, not before. Such a logical assumption should be incorporated into your computer program, and it’s rather astonishing that it isn’t. I hope experiences such as mine will help.David C. | First Impressions

I made a reservation. The first staff member that I talked to was very rude. Instead of taking my reservation number or anything, she gave me the storage room that she wanted to give me. She then put the wrong unit number in the system and gave me keys to a different one. I had to wait in the heat for 15 minutes for someone to move a truck blocking me in. Upon arrival, I was told there were NO 10 x 10 units available AND I was the 3rd person that day that reserved a unit not available. How unprofessional is your company to allow customers to think you have availability when you don't! You completely wasted my time and gas, only to have to rush and find an alternative storage unit last second! Then U-Haul charged me an extra $2.40 for driving over the miles provided, which was U-Hauls fault for sending me to their storage unit that didn't have what I needed! The only complaint I have is that my unit was a outside unit inside another unit. It was very dark to the point you couldn't even use the natural sunlight to see inside. I never used the unit, never even put a lock on it because of anxiety and fear of something happening to me and being closed up and never found. Storage and facilities were as expected. However, the additional charge for transport 1 day extension, return to wrong location, which was suppose to have same dislocation drop off as truck when I picked up. I don't feel i should have had to pay more than the one day extension. Note i couldn't even get both units on same day or place. Using my time, mileage of rented truck and having to pay the fuel used to pick up transport, and delaying my departure date. Ps I discussed with representative when I picked up transport i would be returning both units to the same address in panama, Fl. Both units were to be dislocation to panama. Your employee made the error and I shouldn't have to pay for that error. Also at drop point my car was still on the transport. As this is my only means of transport once transport and truck were returned. also note my reason for extension was fully because I was dealing with the flu and fevered.
