I have rented from this location several times, and the staff is very pleasant, equipment in good working order, however it can take a long time to wait in line sometimes. GENE NI never write reviews but this was an exceptional experience. U-Haul was so helpful to me with all my questions right from the start. They helped me back into my shipping dates so the box would arrive when we needed. The person who dropped off the box was friendly and considerate ad so we’re the staff the brought it to the drop off location and the person who picked it back up when we emptied it. I would recommend and use U-Haul again the the future.

John BThe rental was fine. Vehicle clean and well maintained. The after hours return, however, was a gargantuan pain in the [posterior]. I did not want to install another app on my phone. Tried to perform the return using their web site. It was impossible to navigate. Got as far as searching the building for a QR code to scan. There were plenty. Never found the right one. Finally gave up and installed their app, after which we are given fifty more hoops to jump through before the return was complete. All the photos they require brought to mind the lyrics of Alice's Restaurant Massacree ("twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was"). Surprised they didn't ask for aerial photography too! In all, it took me between 30-45 minutes to perform this return, at 10 PM, in the dark, in the rain, tired and hungry. This was not a pleasant experience, and I will be reluctant to ever do it again.

Samantha SThe staff was very friendly and were doing everything they could with what they had but they were very short staffed and didn't have the resources needs to effectively operate the business. Location opened late, I had reserved an appliance dolly however the location didn't have any available so I needed to scramble and try to find one somewhere else. I went out to the truck and found that there was another truck parked in front of it and one parked in back of it with only about 6 inches of space between. I had to track down someone to move one of the other trucks so that I could get out. Then after I started the truck the check engine light was on so then once again I needed to wait for someone to check the code and it turns out the gas cap was loose. Again the staff was very nice and was trying to make everything right but they clearly don't have the resources needed.

Walked around to find someone and was told to just leave the keys in the truck. If there should be someone greating the incoming vehicles it should be obvious. About 12 vehicles all lined up. Thought we were waiting to pull up and then we all went in to get help with one person behind the counter. Not a great drop of experience
Michele Kwe rented a truck we loaded it up the truck would not start so we called roadside assistance they came an hour later they told us we left the light on but there was no light to turn on in the first place we started to drive once again we got to the apartment and unloaded the truck we went to take it back and the truck died again we called once again for roadside assistance where he also came an hour later we had to stay in the cold waiting once he came he told us that he battery cables were lose to the point they would come off do not recommend they should be checking trucks before people rent

Katie CWhile the facility itself is clean and everything is convenient, I must say that there are other things that are not so great. Pam is a wonderful person with which to interact and work. Unfortunately, if you are a day late, you start to get threatening dunning notices. Sometimes people have life circumstances that make it difficult to make a payment by the exact due date but this company is insensitive. They only care about their money. Such a shame that they don’t really care about their customers.

MARIA H1st .I’m a handicap person, and the representative give me the key to pick up The truck like 150 feet from The office entrance, looking at my handicap tag on My purse. 2nd The fist truck rear door was broken. And I walked back to the main office, to return the keys and ask for new truck , also to bring it to the door. 3rd the extra items wasn’t in the trailer. I was instructed by the same representative I have to take it and put it in the truck my self. I paid for 1 dozen of blankets and it was only 11. (Not event count) they know 4th the truck transmission don’t shift right, it’s changing wrong 3500 to 4000 rpm. 5th the representative didn’t even ask me to sign the second contract . ( by law I never took it) I shouldn’t pay for it. 6 was unable to return the truck Because the new truck was never dispatched . Jesuscrist And 7th too many kids working in the location, I understand they need to work and the experience but not even common sense to help customer around. I didn’t notice nobody older than 29 if. The problem it’s not the age it’s the lack of common sense the representative that assisted me was training a younger boy. How can that be? Someone without all those principal knowledge and skills training someone else. She needs to be trained ASAP on the basic needs. Shake my head The worse experience EVER.

It became unlocked on the highway we needed to jack it up and my brother broke his thumb … This should be repaired before rented again the ball loosen on the hour we stopped on a 30 hour trip to tighten it fore and half turns … This was a very bad experience and I told them and tried to trade it out for a better trailer I was told it would be fine with wieght on it!! They have no clue what they are talking about at this location.
ANGELINA ODropped truck off same day before drop off time. Vehicle was never checked in by staff in a timely manner therefore my debit card got charged over $100 in fees and additional day rental. Not to mention I got a phone call from staff in store the night after I dropped off my rental at 6:50pm (right before closing) stating I did not return my vehicle,...tone was not pleasent, and if the staff member looked she would have seen the keys to the truck were hanging up on the wall behind the desk. Issue was resolved but the overall stress of the situation was not worth it. Will not come back rather rent a truck from home depot.

UHAUL charged me for gas even though I checked out and thought the inaccurate gas was corrected before I left. When I came back I once again informed the human checking me in that I'd purchased gas to bring it to its original state and STILL got charged 13.50 for gas! So frustrating I want a refund for the 13.50, the staff will tell you I took the van out with 3/4 of a tank and brought it back with 3/4 of a tank! UHAUL always overcharges!
RHONA CMy complaint is with the delivery to 216 Stepp Aces lane in Hendersonville. 1. I specifically requested the driver contact me when they were on their way to our temporary residence. I even confirmed with a staff member from the Asheville, NC office, about an hour prior to delivery, if the driver was aware to contact me. The staff member stated that this information was in the notes provided to the driver. When the driver arrived, she was confused as to where the box was to be left. She stated that she was not advised to call me when in transit to the drop-off location. 2. The box was screwed shut with a metal bracket. There was already a combination lock on the box preventing the box from opening. We were not informed of this bracket and only discovered the bracket when we unloaded the box later in the day. We are temporarily living in an apartment, with most of our possessions, including all my tools, in storage. Luckily I had a small screwdriver in my glove compartment, so I was able to remove one of the screws. The other screw was embedded too tightly for me to remove the second screw. With one screw removed, I was able to bend the bracket, so that I could open the door. If I did not have a screwdriver in my glove compartment, we would not have been able to open the box. We should have been informed of this bracket. I am hopeful that someone reads this review and contacts me to confirm the review has been read.

Anne C | Overall ExperienceI would give a 5 but unfortunately it turned out to be a real mess, in that earlier in the day when I rented a 26’ truck to move belongings from another storage facility to U-haul, it got complicated, difficult and frustrating. I had originally reserved a storage unit (10x10x10) but it was determined I needed a 10x15. I was told to just take care when I returned with truck. When I did return, no 10x15 units were available. In fact all that was left was a 10x10x10 and a 5’10x10. It was agreed on but the 2 units were opposite ends of the building and, the smaller unit given was wrong, it was a 5x5x10. I had clearly stated on multiple occasions to the rep a 5x5x10 even coupled with the 10x10x10 would be too small. Ultimately it was changed to a 5x10x10. However all the delays caused us to be late returning truck. My understanding is the young female rep put a note in system to manager not to charge for returning after 5:00 due to the circumstances that happened. I appreciate the willingness to work with me/us but it was a definite challenge to get to that point. I would try again if needed.

My contract went through the 6th, I was able to get movers and had them clear out the storage and locked it up to return once I had more time to give keys, etc back (and not keep the movers waiting). My contact on my account got a call prior to me and then U-Haul followed up with me. They said they realized the unit was empty. I agreed it was, I had locked it up and would be in before my timeframe. The impression I received was that I needed to come in immediately as did my friend. I explained I would be in on the weekend prior to my timeframe expiring. I then received another phone call as did my friend. When I called back they said the unit was empty, I agreed it was but that I would be in before the timeframe. When I went in on Sunday, I went in and unlocked the unit-and turned the door opener back in. I asked why the calls, and was told that the unit was open, it had been locked when I went up that day. It have three concerns, the first being that my friend was notified prior to me, the second being that no one had said it was unlocked just that it was empty, and when I went up it was locked and the final is that it felt like they wanted the unit to be available. I had paid through a time period, unsure why if it is empty or not would matter. The experience was overall great until the last week and a half.

Scanner that operates the door for entrance into the storage facility does not work, you have to swipe your card many times before gaining access. The point to understand is that this door is the only door leading into the storage area. This facility claims you have access to your belongings 24/7 but it’s not true for the controlled climate storage facility. I will not do business with this facility ever again.

The staff were creepy and paranoid, and one of the customers kept following me around telling me what to do, claiming he “works there sometimes” and “knows everyone.” I was crying when I arrived at this facility and instead of being compassionate and understanding about my move they decided to call the police and “check on me.” They then called the police again not three days later demanding they have the “right to evict me” without warning and making accusations with their friends. Upon renting a truck to move out, I was yet again in tears and argued with, harassed, and belittled in front of a full lobby of customers. Upon a smooth return, my phone was called multiple times in a span of 2-3 minutes by an associate accusing me of “losing the key” and “not returning it” and insisting that I’d “have to pay for it” when I clearly (on camera) dropped the key in the designated slot. I’d like someone from customer service to call me back, I’d like a full refund for my services here. How dare they treat people like this.

RepWest insurance has denied my claim and I will be filing a law suit against Uhaul.

Chantelle should be the CEO of U-Haul! They treat everyone like family. U-Haul should be using this facility as the example that all others should strive to be like. I've dealt with several other storage and truck rental facilities - none come close to this one. Moving is one of the most stressful things anyone can go through and U-Haul's mission should be to help reduce this stress. Chantelle and her staff fully understand this and do "whatever it takes" and then some. During this move I dealt with several rude U-Haul employees both on the National U-Haul phone line and at the facility where we dropped off the truck. Again, they should ALL be trained by Chantelle. If they were, U-Haul would rule the industry! While happy to have moved to the next chapter in our lives, I am sad to say goodbye to U-Haul - Pinnacle Rock. JOE C | First ImpressionsAs a long term (3 years) user of Pinnacle Rock (Plainville) U-Haul Storage and Rental, I have found the facility, its staff and service to be phenomenal. Never encountered a "problem" which is surprising since my tenure was an extended one. Whether it be with storage or truck rental, everything always went smoothly. Employees were always helpful, friendly and great to deal with. I would like to single out Will Cintas, who had a "one-of-a-kind" philosophy of management and customer service; that should be "bottled and sold" to any company involved in working with the public and providing services similar to yours. Truly an honest, caring, and "Service is #1" type of professional. More importantly, a "good and genuinely fine" person for who he is. The biggest compliment that I can pay to a person is to say: "If I had a business that needed someone with Will's responsibilities, and even more, I would try to hire him away from your company...with a promotion if possible", U-Haul must have realized his worth, as he is now manger for 128 (if memory serves me correctly) "Plainvilles". Justifiably earned and deserved. I suspect that he will move further up in the company as time goes on. I work with Neurodiverse clients, and Mr. Cintas went out of his way to interview and talk with one of my clients who was a mechanic by training and in need of a part-time job. If New Britain and Plainville haden't merged, there is not a doubt in my mind that my client would have been "doing hitches" for Will in Plainville. Consolidation of operations unfortunately eliminated that possibility, (and rightfully so) when the opening was filled by a (transferring) in-house employee from the soon-to-be closed operation. I have nothing but the highest praises and kudos for EVERYTHING about the Plainville operations and its people. Should I ever need a storage unit or truck rental again, I WILL go to Plainville...if it is possible, even if there are other providers closer. If not, I would still choose U-Haul merely based upon my experiences with Pinnacle Rock. I was particularly impressed with how management and staff handled a water "emergency" that resulted when a customer's vehicle caught fire (due to vehicle malfuntion) in the parking area, just adjacent my INDOOR "bin". Sprinklers went off and water sprayed everywhere; so much so, that it had to be "sopped" up from a quite a large area in the vicinity of the fire. My unit was unaffected, in my mind, primarily because of the "pro-active" actions taken by staff to prevent water from flowing into other surrounding areas. Will Cintas, and staff were present when I arrived to check my unit and insurers were already on the premise to help customers check for and guage damages, if indeed there were any; and to file claims, right then and there if any needed to be completed. Plainville and U-Haul have EARNED a "life-time" customer from the former occupant of #1003 ; but more importantly..it has an active ambassador for the facility, its' operations and it's staff. Customer Service is the name of the game...and the GAME IS ON when it comes to Pinnacle Rock, Plainville. My thanks to all at the Plainville facility. In two words..."CONSISTENTLY AWESOME!" I went back and asked if there was anything they can do and was told to come back later next week. Poor service, rude staff and unreliable company.

Yesterday I went to the facility to get access to the storage space but was told by the girl at the counter that there were no 10x15’s available and that the website booked too many reservations for the amount of spaces of that size available. Not my problem but the clerks didn’t care. I tried to reason with the manager but she was very rude and obnoxious to me and didn’t care that I was unhappy or dissatisfied. I had no choice but to accept a 10x10 space instead which worked out fine. I moved in today but there were a couple of other groups moving in to theirs also but there are only four carts/dollies available. Not nearly enough for the total number of spaces available. If that’s not enough, the floor plan diagram on the wall indicates two elevators side by side and an adjacent restroom but there is only one elevator and no restroom because it is actually a storage space. UHAUL YOU NEED A SECOND ELEVATOR IN THIS HUGE FACILITY! This facility is new, very clean and plenty of storage spaces but crappy, unprofessional and unfriendly customer service staff and insufficient amenities made this a very unpleasant experience.

It's too soon to give a rating better than average. I guess it's an honest mistake but I did say it was very important I move in Sunday- the day I rented it.

After arriving in Florida my company canceled the relocation due to COVID and I quickly realized that I needed to contact the U-Haul location and reserve a space. I called and asked to speak with Tim or Mike so that I could explain my situation, but was told that the representative would send Tim an email with my contact number and proceeded to create a reservation for a 42 ft spot. My reservation number was 924074-00106151 and when my wife arrived yesterday the person at the counter said that my reservation could not be found, and there were no 42ft spaces available. My wife then was told that 37 ft space or there was nothing that they could help her with. My wife paid the fee and was told that there were zero gate fobs. I am beside myself as I have ALWAYS BEEN A GOOD CUSTOMER and I have no idea what went wrong. Thank you.

Imagine my surprise when I walk in, on the day I am suppose to drop off my RV to find that I to be told that my reservation has been cancelled (turns out they only cancelled inside storage ones) but that my spot had not been held. This meant I needed to pick a new spot. This is a challenge for a mom who now has to back in an RV with her 3 children guiding her. Looking at and selecting a spot took 45 minutes, while actually getting in the spot took another 45 minutes. (This is in addition to my original stop to meet with the manager to select a spot when I made my first reservation.) If you are not going to maintain site selection, please notify customers of that in advance. In the past I used to make my reservations months in advance and my site would be held. This time it was not. Please do people the courtesy of informing them in advance if that is going to be the case.

Twice I was charged a late fee because my credit card was declined - 3 days after the automatic charge date. Was I contacted to resolve the problem? No, I was just slapped with a late charge. My credit card, btw, was lost the first time and hacked the second. And I also reserved a truck about 6 months ago to help my son move his apartment. When I showed up at 8am Sat to pick it up, I was told the computers have been down for a day and he couldn't rent me a truck until they came back up. I had a 6 hour window to use the freight elevators to move my son, and now, no truck. They also told me they would call me the minute the computers came back up - they never called me. Uhaul's customer service just plain sucks.

While the staff did get a new unit for us nearby, we had to move all the contents ourselves, which kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
