I reserved a trailer online, even got extra insurance, paid with a credit card, checked in, uploaded my license all a day before pick up. When I arrived to pick up a trailer, I still had to wait in line in the office. Totally inefficient. The staff outside should be able to look up my confirmed reservation electronically with a u-haul provided mobile device, see that I've paid and checked in. One technician said she had to use her own phone for use at work on the U-haul lot. All they should do is hook me up, take their pics for condition and send me on my way. The staff even tried to hook up a 4x6 trailer when I told him I've reserved and paid for a 5x9 ramp trailer. Slowest service compared to the Chula Vista location I normally go to. Chula Vista communicates from the desk to the outside staff via phone instead of waiting for them to walk back in the office. This branch does not. While the staff is friendly, U-Haul either needs to train them better or give them better equipment / capability to service clients outside in the lot especially when the customer uses the reservation / payment and check in procedures online ahead of time so we can pick up our equipment and be on our way in the shortest amount of time so we don't have to wait inside a non-airconditioned office in a COVID environment. P.S. You have plexiglass to separate staff from customers but no one cleans the keypads and the pens after repeated use by customers. Also, the office is dusty and dirty, needs a good cleaning, bathroom too.Marvin D.

U-haul has an app they now require you to use to check in and out your vehicle. This basically makes the customer do all the work, but of course they still charge you the same amount. The app constantly hangs and doesn't work, making the process impossible to complete.david C.

Easy access to freeway. But someone dropped the ball by not letting me know to pick up the uHaul at this location. Originally, I rented at one location and when I went to that location they referred me to Midway. Also, after I already took off in the uHaul I got a call to pick up a dolly from a different location. Very inconvenient and I ended up paying for the dolly I never usedtom Y.

I followed the self check out to the tee and as I was driving away with the truck I was ordered to stop and give the keys back to an attendant who didn't believe that I had reserved and paid for the truck even after showing him the receipt on my phone. After another 15 minutes of waiting he let me drive the truck again. Upon returning the truck during operating hours a few hours later, another attendant supposedly checked the vehicle in and told me I would get an email receipt. Checking back 2 days later the truck was apparently still not checked in and after calling and waiting and getting another call back, it has finally been checked back in where I dropped it off 2 days ago! What is wrong with this place? Every time I rent here there is some issue that makes it very difficult to get or return the truck. I have rented a pick up at least 20 times over the last 3 years from Uhaul. This place needs a better system.BRUCE B.
First and foremost my return location closed early which I was surprised by but I considered that it was a possibility because it was the eve of Christmas Eve. I did call your 1-800 number The individual was very helpful she saved the day. I had to return my trailer to another location in San Diego. And when I arrived it was as if I had walked into a location of the walking Dead. no one came to help me no one came to greet me I stood in front of my car for 15 minutes. Finally I went up to a person with a U-Haul insignia shirt on and asked them if they could help me. And one of them simply walked away into an office. So I asked another one if they could help me. Please understand that your support person from your 1-800 number had already sent them a message telling them that I would be arriving and to expect me. Finally when I did grab one of the associates on the lot they looked at me with a very negative mark on their face and ask me. Why was I there? when it was very obvious I had a trailer connected to the back of my car. I inform them that I was there to drop off my trailer and my response again was rude. Finally I told him that they should have been informed that I was dropping off my trailer. The confused individual finally agreed to remove my trailer. After that happened there was no, "thank you" there was no "have a nice day" no "Merry Christmas." It was as if they were oblivious to the fact that they were a U-Haul location at all. It was the worst possible return experience I've ever had with U-Haul and I have used your company over the years 15 or 20 times. I was double charged for the truck I rented. I returned it the very next day and they say I did not return it for three days and charged me $306 versus the $147 bill that the receiving clerk quoted me as I returned the equipment. I reserved a dolly and truck on 12/8/2020 for a move on 1/2/2021. I checked in online and upon arrival on 1/2/2021 they told me they were all out of dollies. They did not remove the dolly charge from my total and I had to drive 25 miles total out of the way to go reserve a dolly for $50 for the day. Uhaul then charged me the extra 25 miles. first when I originally ordered, I wanted a 15 foot truck with a ramp, as I was loading restaurant equipment. I ordered it 11 days before I needed it. I was called the day before and told that no one in the area had a fifteen foot or bigger truck so I would have to take a smaller truck. I was not told at the time it would not have a ramp. When I picked up the little ten foot truck, the outside was filthy, I guess you don't wash them at all. The inside was okay, however the radio had some time of junk on the radio face. Your guarantee isn't worth anything. I was offered no compensation for not having the right truck, and last but not least I needed a furniture dolly and the place I picked up at didn't have any. Right now my opinion of uhaul is very low.SEAN B.

I rented a truck for 6 (8) hrs and initially did not pay much attention to the cleanliness of the outside and inside of the cabin. After a few minutes driving along I noticed how the back side of the cabin was covered with I don't know what and the truck had a foul smell. Then as I opened the back gate getting ready to pull the ramp out my hands go sticky from just holding onto the straps an as I looked closer, the bottom part of it was covered with sticky stuff and so was half of the outside of the back sliding door. I have to say this could have been a MUCH better experience if someone would have taken 10-15 minutes to pressure wash the back of the truck and use some Clorox cleaning solution to clean up the cabin ... especially during these ROUGH times right now!! Not sure if this is just the UHaul standard that one needs to expect but I was not a happy camper !!! I want to mention that I tried to rent 12 blankets and they were out so they pitched in about 3 they had laying around for free which was definitely a nice gesture!! Kind Regards, PeterPETER K.

Anthony and Lyn were very helpful. The only 2 things are 1) I'd recommend is notifying the customer well in advance of the location they chose will not be open and they are being routed to another location to pickup their truck. And 2) I felt uncomfortable leaving the dolly in the back of the unlocked truck when I turned the truck in. Someone could have stolen it. Thanks!GABRIEL F.

If there was a review for corporate I would love a chance to leave a review for that. This location is amazing- the employees are so helpful and empathetic especially when I had so many issues. Corporate needs to get their sh*t together. I have never been so frustrated with a customer service center. One lady told me I should not pull a 6x12 because of the fear of my car blowing up- one guy out of the National City location told me she had no idea what she was talking about and that I was completely fine. I had to ask my mechanic who urged me it was extremely unsafe to pull a 6x12 with my type of vehicle. Which is extremely concerning considering I spoke to a â€œmanagerâ€ at the National city office. I would highly recommend this Point Loma location but I would also tell someone that dealing with corporate is an absolute nightmare. They make reservations without even knowing if anything is in stock. When I got my hitch installed I was given a date to come in via text message. I came in and nobody knew I had an appointment because the customer service center is terrible. Then TWO DAYS before I picked up my 5x8 trailer I was informed they had none in stock. Corporate Customer Service yet again....and I booked the trailer 2 and a half months earlier. Without the employees at the Point Loma location, I would've been unable to move and stuck in San Diego. I am so grateful for them and they all deserve raises. Literally ever single employee is so welcoming and helpful. Corporate Customer Service- you are the absolute worst. And the â€œmanagerâ€ at the National City location- you have got to have better people skills because you are rude, unhelpful, and have zero empathy for anyone.Christina P.
Customer experience at the Uhaul store was beyond poor. The guy behind the counter was extremely lazy, useless, and unhelpful. He did not cover any of the guidelines or rules despite me asking for clarification. I'm not sure what value he adds to the business. Further, Uhaul sets you up to pay the extra fees from the start - provided me with a truck that had exactly 1/4 of a tank. Booking a reservation online, putting in all your info along with a CC only to get to the store and have to verbally tell the employee the same info a second time is a complete waste on time. Uploading pics of your driver's license to speed things up would be nice if you could do it while making the reservation instead of while standing at the counter. Why does it matter what kind of top I have on my jeep to rent a utility trailer? I rent trailers on a semi-regular basis and having to go through the same inefficient process only to get to the store and have the guy behind the counter have to slowly walk through each step is aggravating every single time. I returned this truck today, Saturday Dec 5 around 12-1 pm. Had to return it after one day, instead of keeping it til Monday I did not get a receipt for the truck being returned. The employees told me that they sent me a return confirmation email with the cost of the one day and I HAVE NOT received email! Also, accidentally left my home parking pass in the window of the truck. Went back 2 hours later to get it back. They said truck was already rented out again. I am very angry.Tamara W.
The facility is outstanding. The person who issued the vehicle was very helpful and very professional. Acces to the location is very easy. The 26-foot vehicle was very well maintained and operated with ease. The six-hour trip was fun. The only problem was that the vehicle did not have way to charge a cellphone.MARIO H.
When leaving the location, the cabin of the truck I rented smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and had garbage throughout. Upon making it home to begin my move, I attempted to open the cargo space only to find that a lock was present... and of course, I did not have a key to open or unlock. The only 2 solutions that the uhaul team suggested were: 1. Use bolt cutters to cut there lock (but I do not own these, nor does anyone I know near my home) 2. Drive back to the location and have them remove the lock. No other suggestion to help me remedy a situation they caused, just time out of my hectic moving day to drive back to uhaul....Trevor W.

My main issue is with one of your employees Hakeem. He showed up late to work didn't open the business until nearly 10 minutes past. Was completely unprofessional, rude, and condescending during the check in process. Then after checking in the vehicle, yelled at me, threatened to physically assault me, and told me â€œnaw fuck this job I don't need thisâ€. If that is the conduct of employees at this Uhaul I will absolutely not be going back, and I will be contacting my attorney about the aggressive threats from your employees.Alexander R.

I literally drove to the U-Haul 3 days prior to reserve a ONE WAY trailer to Bishop, CA. I arrived on the date I had scheduled to pick up the ONE WAY trailer and find out they rented my trailer that I had reserved 2 days prior. I was in a bind so I had to rent the trailer and then return it on a 6 hour drive home. Not happy!!!!TRACI T.

This experience was absolutely AWFUL. I arranged to have my truck picked up at 8 AM via mobile pickup. I get there only to find out that the location never setup my mobile pickup. After waiting on hold for 40 minutes, I leave uhaul and drive back to my house. The guy who I talked to said he would transfer me to someone who could set me up for mobile pickup but I needed to drive back to the location to do so. He said there was once call ahead of me and it would be a 5 minute hold. So I got a ride back to uhaul only to wait on hold for another half hour. When I talked to the next representative she said that she cannot set me up for mobile pickup and she had no idea why the first guy told me that was plausible. She said the Point Loma location dropped the ball and never setup my mobile pickup on their end. So now I have to wait in line for ANOTHER 45 minutes because the location is now open. When I get to the checkout, they told me they would include a free dolly for my troubles. I get to my new house, no dolly was left for me. This whole experience was awful from start to finish. Not one person who I spoke with actually helped me. I was given the run around for two hours while I had a house full of friends waiting to help move. 1 out of 10 experience. ðŸ˜žJennifer F.

I rented a 10-footer from San Diego to Whittier, CA for a one-way trip. The staff didn't ask me to verify the mileage printed on my contract, only the gas level. When I returned the truck in Whittier, my mileage said I traveled 510 miles, which was not correct and the guy who helped me in Whittier said that that wasn't possible. He said I didn't have to worry. Good thing he was present as today is a Sunday. But what if he wasn't there to help me? I didn't want to get overcharge for added miles I didn't use.Rhony L.

My original drop off location was scheduled for 3535 India St at the India Shell station and that was a very unpleasant experience. I wanted to drop off the U-Haul earlier than my scheduled return time, so I called customer service and they confirmed I could drop off at the India Station early, and was recommended to go into the station to complete the drop off. When I went inside to drop off the keys the woman working was very rude. Told me this wasn't an appropriate drop off even though I had documentation saying otherwise.Aksumawi T.

When I arrived I was asked to fill an application out online after going over the application 3 times on the phone. My trucks engine had serious issues and was barely drivable.
