This location always over calculates my mileage. I have photo proof. It's only a small amount so I don't care about the cost...but it does feel like a little "cheating/stealing" is going on!

Great staff at check-in, but the lot attendant forgot to load the dolly I'd ordered. They were helpful in working with another location in San Diego to see that I got the equipment there.

CONS: It would be great if the 2 guys behind the counter pretended to like each other even a little bit while customers are present. And if there is any way to speed up pick up, wow that would go a long way. PROS: James on the other hand is likely the biggest asset among any u-haul staffing which ever existed. I would recommend this location 1,000 times over solely based on James' excellent attitude and eagerness to lend a hand without even being asked. The most helpful thing I can tell you on this review is that you need to do everything necessary to keep James from getting stolen away.

The drop off location that I was supposed to drop off at was not accessible. I had to find another location on my own because there is no direct phone number to any location. This is in an extremely heave traffic area as well. If a location is closed, then there needs to be a notification in your system, letting associates know not to schedule that location. If I wasnt as early as I was, this could have been a bigger issue, such as being charged late fees that would not have been my fault. It was very frustrating driving around an unfamiliar city, in heavy traffic, I went to 2 Uhaul locations before I found one that could accept me.

After arriving home with the truck I found a lock with no key on the rear opening so I could not load furniture. I called on the phone four times to the local number, was rerouted to the national center, then put on hold with no answer each time. Finally I gave up and had to return to the rental agency to have them cut the lock off.

The windshield wipers on my truck were terrible. The one day it rained in San Diego I decided to use a truck. I could not see on the interstate so I had to take side roads. Unacceptable. Staff was super friendly and professional though so that’s nice

They bumped my reservation because "they haven't heard from us." I was given an old truck that had trouble changing gears and was covered with mud on the outside. The gas light was on , and my receipt showed a quarter tank, clearly it was not.

Be more clear about additional rental terms. For example: the dolly in the big truck says: $7 to rent, but it's not clear that it's $7 per day to rent.

Making sure that U-haul employees Inspect trucks and vans carefully before handing them over to new customer. In addition, to going over the details of refueling withe gas the rented vechiles. My experence at this location seemed that the customer service was very RUSHED.

The experience overall was good; however I booked online ahead of time and chose the option to pickup using my phone but still had to go through the entire process at the desk so I'm not sure why I had to do that; it did not speed up the process

1) Truck was filthy on the outside. I was told it wouldn’t be an issue when I dropped it off. Luckily I took pictures just in case. I was charged $25 for turning in a dirty truck in Elk Grove the following day. I had no contact with the employee in Elk Grove store even though I was there on Sunday at 3:35pm and the website shows it was suppose to be open till 4pm. I had to drop the keys in a drop box and was charged the following day. Also the San Diego location was suppose to provide me tape, boxes and blankets which I’d paid for but didn’t receive. I had to call and request a reimbursement.

The locations service was great. Unfortunately, the phone and online after hrs checkin is in need of serious attention. The online app would not read my location and lock up. When calling customer svcs, I was on hold twice for at least 20min before giving up. Pretty lame.

I tried using the U-Haul app to checkout my truck and dolly, but the app kept getting stuck on the screen where it wanted me to take a picture of the rear of my driver's license. It keeps saying "Error: No network connection" even though I had a good network connection on my iPhone. Despite killing the app and restarting (from scratch!) it always got stuck at the same place with the "No network connection" error. This was really frustrating so I finally gave up on the app and went into the store to complete my rental. The representative at the store saw the picture of the rear of my driver's license in his computer but when he went to complete the process, he had to take a picture of the rear of my license since his computer wouldn't let him proceed. So a really frustrating experience using what I had hoped would be a quick, streamlined rental.
