The link for returning the vehicle kept timing out as we were submitting photos - frustrating at the end of a long, strenuous day. That said, the PEOPLE at this location are patient, efficient and professional in every way. Because I came in several times before my move date, I interacted with several staff and they all communicated to me that my trip was in good hands

Not sure. Physical location difficult to access. I had called in my reservation with a refreshingly nice "Larry". When I got to the location for pickup, the firendly technician struggled to find me, then recreated my booking, then booked it wrong, eventually corrected it. These delays took over 30 minutes. Unnecessary. Again, very pleasant but not very competent. Seemed untrained.

They gave me paper work that didn’t match the truck. Plates, mileage, fuel fill level were all wrong. I should have checked all this before I left, but I only noticed at my first highway stop. I tried calling them 11 times over 2 days. I automatically got routed to reservations main line, not the brick and mortar I picked up from. Each time I called it was 10 minutes to get someone that could t help me get through to the Somervile office. We tried email, instant message. Nothing. Luckily my drop off location was super understanding.

Every step of reserving to delivering and retrieving our UBox has been a nightmare. The website double charged us for the reservation because it would not submit the correct form. We had to wait on hold for 20+ minutes to get someone to help us with our reservation. We selected to do truck delivery, but were told AFTER we paid for the service that we needed to obtain special permits from the town in order to park the UBox by our residence and that someone needed to be home during delivery. They gave us the delivery time between 7 - 2 which is absolutely impossible to stick with given normal working hours. We had to call UHaul again, wait on hold again for 20+ minutes just to speak to a representative and change our reservation to load the box on-site. After the box had shipped, I received an email saying my payment method was declined. After another 20+ minute to call to UHaul, this was deemed a "mistake" and the same card was processed. I thought I was in the clear until the day I scheduled movers came, and my movers called to tell me that they were at the correct UHaul location to retrieve my UBox but it was nowhere to be found. I called SEVERAL UHaul representatives and numbers (everyone kept directing me to different places and would not stay on the phone) and no one could seem to locate my UBox even though it was supposed to arrive at the location the day before. I had to cancel and reschedule movers because UHaul took an entire day to get back to me to let me know where my items were. After complaining to UHaul about the inconvenience, I was promised a $50 refund which I NEVER received. When I thought I was finally done with this MESS ,UHaul called me several days ago to let me know that they could not close my contract because the movers had not returned my UBox. After several more calls to them, they finally closed my contract. I will never be using UHaul's services again. This experience has been nothing but stressful and infuriating. I did not feel that my items were tracked properly, and the customer experience at UHaul every time I had a serious problem was dismal.

I was told my box was departing later than it did, so a bunch of things never made it in to the Ubox. Why tell me the box is leaving wednesday then send it days earlier? Would have adjusted my loading schedule had I know it would be leaving earlier. Also several things were damaged in transit - who do I talk to about making a claim?

I dropped my truck off at 7pm and the lot was full. Trying to check the truck in online did not work on mobile or when I got home on my computer. I spent 15 minutes on hold Monday before talking to a very nice operator who was not able to resolve the issue. On Tuesday I spent another 15 minutes on hold to confirm that the truck was received with another helpful operator; however, they had to remove an extra charge because UHAUL had thought I had rented the truck for another day. I felt this service was poor.

I spoke with multiple different U-haul representatives over the phone, and every one told me conflicting information. For example, one person told me I could only have the u-box at my house for 24 hours. Another person told me that the 99$ truck delivery fee did not include the truck coming to pick back up the boxes after they were emptied, and that I would have to rent a trailer to return them? All of these things ended up getting clarified, however it took multiple phone calls. I understand hold/wait times are difficult to improve, but I also waited about 30 minutes each time I needed to call.

Make it clear how many pads you should be getting; when we came to pick ours up we were given only two bags when we should have received eight bags. We did not know this, so we had to return for more pads. Manny was very helpful in correcting the scheduling mistake that was made by the agent on the phone so that we could still ship when we were promised. Central customer service was terrible, there were more than two hours on hold for this shipment.

Please put in your FAQ what happens if you are late returning your rental equipment. I'm used to Zipcar's model, where you can extend in 30 minute increments unless someone has reserved the car after you. I reserved my Uhaul van for 12 hours and wasn't clear what would happen when I needed it for several more hours. But the 24h model is very user friendly. I wish your phone system used hold music instead of hold talking.

From reservation to key drop-off, this was a pleasant, streamlined experience of van rental. Despite the line at pick-up time, the guy checking people in was patient and kind, giving everyone the attention they needed to get through their process. More clerks on a busy holiday weekend would have sped things up a bit. I wish all U-Haul places were like this one. No bait-and-switch. I got the vehicle I reserved at the rate promised. My van was clean and in perfect working condition. Thank you!

Everyone we dealt with at the store was extremely helpful and friendly. We were thrilled with how smoothly everything went. Even though claimed my truck could be picked up at 6 when I arrived and tried to get it the app said I had to wait until 7. This is the dumbest thing I have heard in a while, if I have a 6a reservation my truck should be ready then. Luckily you have a star employee, I wish I knew his name, who went out of his way to get to work early to ensure I was taken care. This employee cared and is the only reason I was not yelling at uHaul for such a dumb mistake. He had me out of there in no time which is good because I had a tight schedule to keep

Picked up the truck with less than 1/4 tank, filled it during my move, and returned it with a little under 3/8 of a tank and got charged for gas. So to sum it up I returned the truck with more gas than was left to me and got charged. Next time I will rent a truck from somewhere else.

everything great, except i received the truck w 1/4 tank of gas, so i filled it up to make sure i had enough gas for the trip (attendant didn't know mpg of the vehicle) and returned it with 3/4 of a tank. This was by far the worst U-Haul experience I have ever had, and I rent yearly. I arrived at the facility for my designated time and waited 20 minutes before an agent came in and acknowledged me (this was the same agent who looked directly, making eye contact, at me as I entered the building). When that agent finally entered the retail space he first took the man who arrived after me, spending another 10 minutes with him. At this point there were 4 other individuals behind me. A second representative came in the space, voiced that the first should not be working alone with so many patrons and then proceeded to state "...anyone who is not paying cash, I can help", instead of asking for the next customer in line - which was me. The customer who rushed to her did not have a reservation and then spent at least another 20+ minutes with her, meanwhile the first agent finished with his customer and, again, took another man behind me! To finish the experience, I confirmed twice that I had a furniture dolly on my order, paid for it, confirmed if there was any special instructions for it as I was returning the trailer after hours, and verbally confirmed again that I had been provided one in the trailer (which the agent stated that the dolly was there and I was to just leave it in the trailer in the return location). I left the facility an hour later than I had planned, was stuck in vast Boston rush hour traffic to arrive to my apartment and find that there was no dolly! I called the facility, was directed to some central booking phone line and was told I would need to return to that U-haul location (or another one if there was one closer) to get that dolly. I asked if someone could bring it to me directly as they were leaving work as it was the error on their end and was told that "...U-Haul does not deliver." I could not make it back to the location prior to closing with the traffic. That lack of dolly added immense pressure to our moving process as I needed to have items transported to our storage unit by 9:00pm that night. For a company that prides itself on helping others you failed greatly with this experience. I will unfortunately need to rent another trailer within the month. Because of this experience I can no longer utilize U-haul in the Somerville location and will be forced to rent elsewhere or with another supplier completely. I am a customer who gives praises often in the service industry, as I know that it is rare to receive them. And, I have submitted praises for other U-haul locations, so do not think that I am a "never pleased customer". I look forward to your follow-up regarding this experience. Not sure I had an easy no issue experience. My only problem I forgot where the girl told me to leave the key to the truck after hours drop off. I actually put the key in the pick up box. When I called they told me a lot of people do that but they got the key. I guess I am not the only idiot that puts the key in the wrong place. LOL

If I have to rent a truck or trailer, I have always used UHaul. Over the past several years, I have used the facility located at 600 Mystic Valley Pkwy, Somerville, MA 02144, based on its proximity to my residence. I have always rated the service there as average, and my last experience there was frustrating. I had to argue with an employee that my truck was big enough to tow a trailer. He refused to rent to me, so I went online and made the SAME RESERVATION without issue, and then proceeded to go inside and speak to another employee, who rented me the trailer without argument. This past weekend, I rented a cargo trailer to move a swingset, but the only local availability was your store located at 151 Linwood St Somerville, MA 02143. I was a bit disappointed since I had to now travel several miles to pick up the trailer. My experience, however, at this store on Linwood St was beyond exceptional. Even though there was a line, I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in the door. After a short wait, Juan got me ready and out the door in just a couple minutes. The return process was just as easy, as the store manager helped my with the trailer drop off. Based on my experience here, this will now be the ONLY UHaul facility that I will visit. The staff here is friendly and accommodating, and made my rental a pleasure.

Please with this rent. Made on-line reservation. Friendly customer service when picking up. 9 feet van was clean and practically new. Van was Ford Transit XLT comfortable and solid to handle/maneuver, spacious, solid. No hassle dropping keys (after hours). A friendly CSR gave me all the details I needed. Very pleased.

Not only was this negligence, but it was dangerous. They put my life and other lives on the road around me in danger. Clean the ice and snow off the top of the trucks before renting them out. It's a safety hazard and customers can't reach up there to clean it themselves.

After driving 9 hrs, I got there and the unit I’d reserved was unavailable, despite the fact that I’d confirmed it the day before. Uhaul’s software shouldn’t let you reserve a unit that’s not open!

The staff is exceptional and so is the facility, EXCEPT that the back of my rental unit was brick and leaked. 2 courses of boxes damaged by water, damp interiors and black mold. Fails with leak!
