Worst location I have been to. Had to wait over 5 minutes just for someone to come to the counter to address the line of customers as three guys were outside detailing a bike. Dude didn't run me through anything with the car or the walk-around or anything. Returning was even worse somehow. There weren't enough spaces for all the returns that day to even fit. The key drop is basically non existent. There were 3 different people there at 10pm looking for the key drop because it looks NOTHING like the picture and has barely any sign. Overall 0/10. Will actively tell people NOT to go to this absolute GARBAGE location.colin M.
The mileage of the vehicle and its fuel tank fill level was not correct on the paperwork. Despite my photographic evidence of both items being different than the paperwork, the charges have not been refunded. The left back door on a new van (1734 miles) did not open. This makes it extremely difficult to use the van for moving large items as intended. Finally, the attendants do not seem to care about getting these things corrected, even when told about them.DAVID H.

No problems at all. Service was excellent. Only issue was that there was some flower petals and leaves in the back of the van so that the cleanliness did not reflect the confirmation image that I received. However, I was able to upload the current picture to the app and it was very helpful and easy way to do it. The cleanliness did not impact my usage in any way either.PATRICK L.

I needed an enclosed cargo trailer for more than a day. The other locations I claled were unable to rent me a trailer for more than 24 hours. Not the case here. I arrived, they had the size (4 x 8') that I wanted and they hooked it up to my hitch. They also offered to use an extension wire to allow me to keep my trailer wiring inside my hatch and extend the extension wire over the weather stripping and closed in the door. This allowed me to avoid any wear-and-tear on my wiring and kept it clean. During pick-up I was helped by Danny Campos and he was great. During drop-off, I was helped by Edgar (didn't get a last name). This was a good experience that was priced fairly and did what I needed it to.JASON E.

After finally locating the office for service, I located a staff member who seemed bored throughout the process. He achieved the task of helping me find an available space--which is hard enough with UHaul--but refused to do provide any service beyond what seemed like a rotely memorized routine. When he asked, "Anything else?" I responded, "Could you please help me move this item into my unit?" He then said, "We don't do that here. We don't move things in." And left it at that. I then struggled for the next few minutes to lift my hefty suitcase into an upper-level compartment with only a spindly step ladder on wheels to assist me. It was dangerous. I could have fallen backward. My final struggle was with the lock, but I was able to find a second staff member at that time who was much friendlier and professional. It may not have been in his job description, but he took time to step away from his desk and resolve the lock issue for me. The vans right rear blinker didn't work, at all. The truck was missing a part that was crucial to towing a Ubox. Then because of a uhaul - related delay, I asked for more time on the truck. They told me 30 minutes extra would cost 46 dollars and any more than that would be hundreds. I had to take it back and rent a truck at a different uhaul. I would consider that literally as bad as it gets. I received a 50$ refund, which I appreciated but was still 10$ less than I was charged, not to mention the hour or more of my time I wasted.James C.

I have never been so disgusted with a storage facility. I drove 5 1/2 hours from New Jersey only to find that this company put me in a warehouse storage unit when I advised I had furniture, on a second floor unit with no steps but a rolling stair ladder to use to bring tons of furniture in a dirty, sticky substance stained unit. I complained and was advised there were no other units available. The hallway reeked of dead mice, urine and feces. I complained several times and cried that I had to leave my whole life at this unsanitary and disgusting unit. When I complained, I was advised the cleaning lady must have not cleaned the unit and was not there and there was still no other unit. I would have never guessed that uhaul, a reputable company would have a unit in this condition and being I had driven 5.5 hours, with a truck load of stuff and only had help for the day and had three hours only to unload couches and other furniture up a second floor unit with no steps on a bad ankle is ridiculous. The smell was so nauseating that my brother vomited profusely. I am mortified and put in a customer action file 6 days ago (prior to leaving the facility) and no one has yet called when I was supposed to get a call back and resolution in 72 hours. You have made my moving experience a living nightmare and I am mortified daily that my items are in this facility under these conditions. It's a shame to treat customers this way and to have your site under these conditions. If I wanted this treatment, I would have gone to a disreputable third party storage unit. I truly will never use this company again. To top it off, I was fraudulently charged for gas the next day when I had pictures to sustain the mileage and gas meter, as well as, had spoke to your representative who priced it for me on site regarding the gas I left in the vehicle. I handled this with customer service the next day, as this just made things worse and showcased the faulty practices of your staff. No one has yet handled the complaints I have above of my customer action file and there needs to be a resolution as this is unacceptable.SHIRICKA B.

Terrible customer service. I dropped the trailer off, a gentleman came to my vehicle and said he would remove the trailer, which he did. I asked for a check out or paperwork saying I was all set. He said no we don't do that and you'll receive a text message in 10 minutes. I said no I wanted something to prove the trailer was dropped off. He said that's now how they do it here. The parking management needs to improve. Maybe some drivers do not understand the return procedure correctly and leave a lot of space between the vehicles, this caused me a lot of issue as I didn't have space in the line to park where I was asked to and I had to waste 25min of my time and energy looking for the next best alternative parking spotSiddharth S.

The personnel at the location processed the rental at the incorrect time and charged us extra. It's better to use the online return system and not rely on the employee to get the returns right. This location was far from me but offered a reservation time. The line was 20-30 people deep, and not moving at the time we reserved, so it took more than two hours to rent the vehicle. During that time, the staff was grabbing vehicles by driving them at dangerous speeds through the parking lot. At one point he grabbed a trailer (which had a jar of salsa sitting on the fender) with a forklift, but first crashed the forklift into another trailer. The man who helped us was very nice, but there was no explanation of a change in return time, or what to do if we return it after hours. When I returned the vehicle, several others were walking around with no idea how to find the key drop. In the end, I felt overcharged, and I regret reserving it online. I will go with somewhere local and better staffed next time. I'm just glad it didn't rain.Peter C.

I rented my u haul to be picked up at 9:30am. I got there at 9:15 abd the line was so long I only got my U-Haul past 11:30am. Although the single person that was attending did an amazing job keeping a friendly environment, sprinting to get people in vehicles, cracking jokes to keep the mood light (kudos to him for his great job), waiting over 2 hours to pick up a utility vehicle really messed up my whole day. That is not the type of service I expected. The other 2 employee that were supposed to be there showed up really late.Santiago P.

The application that is used to check vehicles in and out is sluggish and caused a long delay in acquiring the truck and tow dolly. Edgar Lopez did an excellent job in keeping everything moving as he was the only employee there for a few hours. The biggest hindrance he encountered was the terrible application he is forced to use. Took longer than anticipated to get approved for my rental, once I did I went to approach an employee to ask if I had to wait in the line (that was well out the door) to get my keys or since I did the 24/7 booking if I could skip the line. Before I could even ask my question the employee just pointed towards the end of the line and walked away without hearing my question. It took over 30 minutes for me to reach another employee who did inform me I could skip the line to grab my key, meaning I wasted 30 minutes of my rental time standing in a line I didn't need to stand in.William L.

the staff was great and friendly. but the organization and customer service overall was horrible. there were 30 people in line when i got there, and it took nearly an hour to get through, even though i had booked everything before hand. for long stretches, no one was even in the room helping customers. they were out taking care of something. i truthfully have never seen a more poorly organized customer service experience. Our overall experience was good, but Edgar went above and beyond and made our move-in SO easy and pleasant on an otherwise stressful day. He was helpful, informative, and seemed genuinely invested in making things run as smoothly as possible. Side note, he was unexpectedly alone at the beginning of the shift on Sunday with a line of people outside, and he handled it with grace and calm. Hi! my name is Justino. I went in to Somerville Uhaul office yesterday after reservation online. I made the reservation to move in on Sunday 9/27/20. When I got there, I saw a girl at the office, instead of helping she asked her coworker Edgar Lopez who just walked in from outside to take over and help me because she wanted to use the restroom, Edgar was in the middle of doing something outside but came over and started helping when she popped out of the so called bathroom she claimed she went. Edgar almost finished with the contract and was telling me the amount to pay to move in when I was explaining to him that I was supposed to have one month free according to my reservation and I have a proof of it. That was when the girl jumped in saying "no that's not true because I was here last time when you came in and my boss told you you need to rent a truck one way before getting one month free. I told her that's right but this is the proof that I'm qualified for one month free according to my reservation. she didn't want to hear it. Then I pulled my phone out and trying to provide the picture evidence I have, she said:"even if you have a picture to prove it we're not going to do it". However Mr Lopez Edgar took his time and listened to me and saw the evidence I showed him then advised me to come back the next day and see his manager because he's the only person who can approve the one month free rent. I got out of the office and decided to contact the manager because I'm used to that office and I know the former manager George and the current one manny. I sent a text message to Manny and told him the story of the girl been too harsh. Manny took his time to document everything and then recommended me to JUAN BAUTISTA and asked me to go back there and see him for the contract. I went back to the office and Juan took care of the issue and resolved it and assigned me the unit that I reserved which happened to be at the upper level. I told him it's too high for me to load heavy things up there and he reassured me that if anything becomes available at the lower lever I can switch to that lower level unit. I was so happy with the excellent customer service provided by Manny the manager, Juan B. and Edgar Lopez. All a customer needs sometimes is attention and be listened to and be advised when the service he or she is requesting cannot be provided. That's what Edgar Lopez did. And Manny as a team leader proved his leadership by asking a talented team member JUAN BAUTISTA to care of the issue which he resolved with an excellent level of service which brights my day.Justino A. | First Impressions
While the staff was helpful, the design of the storage units are horrendous. Why are there overhead storage units? This defeats the convenience in paying for storage units. Nowhere on the online booking tool was o warned there were overhead units at lower cost and floor units were $40 more! Arriving at the facility with my fully loaded for check in, My hand was forced to go with the slightly bigger, floor unit. The storage assigned was located three meters above the grounds. I had to use a ladder to put my things in there. It is shameless that storage line that can be sold. The worst experience. Moving is already stressful and to come and find out that your storage is on the ceiling of a poorly managed facility makes it a nightmare. Horrible experience with u-haul storage.
