I went in to the location to check in and request a dolly that I needed to add to my reservation. Both employees let me know their computers were down and to try to do so on my phone. When I asked about the dolly, the woman asks “ A utility dolly?”, to which I replied whatever a standard dolly is. She replied back that is a utility dolly in a very rude tone to me as if I am to know every type of dolly in the world. I return my rental and park as instructed. Then one of the women comes out to tell me to move it to the cleaning station for them. Again, not what was instructed, but asked me to do that so that they didn’t have to. The employees there were the least helpful, least, friendly, least polite, or professional. The lockboxes are also the most moronic things invented. Your keys have a very large keychain that gets stuck behind the bolt of the lock box door. I injured myself trying to get the key out because of that issue with the keychain getting stuck. Overall, horrible experience at that location and with the services.

I came in the next day because i did a cash transaction and when i went in i was advised to come back the next day because the worker ( james ) said he didnt have a cash drawer then also i called into uhaul 800 number prior to going to the store and that person was terrible as well. If it wasnt for a friend i would and will say uhaul it's terrible 👎🏾

This location always has equipment available to rent which is great for the customer. The alley that you have to go across to get your equipment is always an absolute disaster. There are giant potholes and standing water nearly all the time. I am not sure if it is supposed to be maintained by the city or not. It would not cost much at all to have a load of gravel dumped and spread to correct the issue.

Truck was clean but exhibited what a 120k mile truck would without proper service/repair, rough riding, squirrely handling. Truck was provided on time. Negatives: Ordered 6 blankets, only received 5. Purchased group of 20 medium boxes with the understanding that I could return unused boxes. Had 12 boxes to return, brought them in after using truck and was told only boxes purchased singly and not used could be returned. Now I have to try to dispose of unused boxes. Not what I needed with a ton of other things to be concerned with in my move.

Well, the gas tank was 1/2 full.....I was only driving 15 miles. So, of course I put too much because I didn't want it to be off and be over charged. That made me angry. They should be all full, so there's no questioning. Smart on your part however getting some free gas!!! That being said....the girl working the counter, was the most friendliest person. Good at her job also, just saying. But her all around attitude and kindness actually made my day. I had done my reservation online and did the mobile check in, so I wasn't sure I needed to go in. She was super helpful and friendly and got me all checked in. So, like I said besides being good at her job, her all around positivity made my day. Too often going anywhere these days and finding people that are helpful and have positive attitudes is unfortunately not easy to come by.

The 10 ft truck I rented had difficulty starting when we picked it up. It had to be jump started at my home but thankfully it started easily with jumper cables.

My reservation for storage was moved from Elkhart to Mishawaka to South Bend for starters. Once checked into the storage unit, I was not shown where to go or even given the correct unit number. I was given a map and unit was highlighted. When going to the unit, it was already locked and employees were going for the evening. I called customer support and found out that was not my assigned unit. When I went to my actual storage, it was extremely inaccessible! The door clearance was very short and narrow. The hallway did not allow you to maneuver furniture into unit… only smaller items and boxes. Unit size wasn’t the issue, just the accessibility.. considering the unit I reserved and confirmed in Elkhart was a drive up unit. Nobody could possibly move an apartment or small home as shown in unit descriptions simply because of the hallway and doorway.

I don't know where to start. 1st you have a rodent problem. Mice had gotten into our unit and chewed through boxes and started nesting. Lots of valuable family heirlooms and collector items ruined. Then we have the staff. Understand that we live out of state and our daughter (who lives nearby) was watching over our things. We had given her the key card and keys with express permission in the beginning for her to access the unit if need be. Three times throughout our time there, she was denied access and her key card (my key card) was taken from her. And the turnover rate with employees must be a nightmare. Never did I ever see the same people twice. The office was very hard to get ahold of. We were also threatened at one point of losing our things if we didn't bring the unit to date within two weeks. We didn't even know it was behind. It was on auto-pay. The manager at that time said he sent an email, he did not ! Parking and equipment. The staff takes up most of the parking and I had no where to park. I wasn't allowed to bring in a trailer to empty out the unit. The units themselves were questionable. Units made entirely of wood with gaps as high as two inches off the floor for the doors. Please understand, I have had storage units all over the country. From Michigan to Texas, Arizona, Las Vegas, Arkansas and Indiana. Never have I had the rudness in staff. People are most generally willing to work with you. But not in South Bend, IN. I'm am happy to be able to take the time to empty our storage unit and wash my hands of that particular U-Haul experience. I will say though, the current manager there at this time (I forget her name) did work with us. But her staff lacks her commitment. My daughter broke the key to lock on the unit and she had replaced it with a different lock not of U-Haul code. So I had buy a new lock and replace it. We were locked out at the time and the staff wouldn't let her in to replace it per manager's instructions. Once the current manager was told about the incident, my daughter was finally able switch it out with the right one. That's all I have to note at this time. I hope that in future U-Haul of South Bend, IN updates their units and take care of the rodent issue plaguing the belongings of those storing there things.

Your storage prices became to high for me to afford. Otherwise the experience of storing with you was amazing. Your employees were very pleasant and helpful. I do feel you owe me a partial refund on my unit cause l was only there for half a month. I moved out on the 15th of October. You charged me for the entire month. Please be fair and return the fees you over charged me due to my leaving early.

The staff was very helpful, very friendly. I have never had a problem here. Storage, now that's another issue. Set up and all is great. Love that they offered carts for assistance. You walk in and it just smells of mice. My unit was clean but there is holes, from mice, poo and mice urine on the floor. It happens I get that, but it's bad. I don't by far blame the staff. I'm sure it's higher up. My stuff is in plastic bins, but it won't be there long.

I was told yesterday I would get a call back within a half hour and it’s been 24 hours and still no call back from this facility. And I’ve been a customer at this facility for a year and a half and as of yesterday I finally got a key card to get into my unit because they said I moved out and it never happened. I would really appreciate a phone call

Although I did not need your storage unit, I have heard from other people who have ise you tell me your great. When reserving my uhaul, it jumped right into storage, there was not an option to decline it. I thought I was reserving my uhaul.

Each month I would be charged late fees, possible lein, even this week I received a phone call to pay for storage $319. I settled my account in the first of February, moved my things out and left the keys. When I stored my things in October, I was to have one month free. Each month I check on the storage but the free month wasn't applied. Each month, I had to to correct my account. Each month I had to talk to someone but no follow through. Yesterday, the employee printed out a recept $0. No charges or late fees. So. It will be interesting if I will receive a bill. Uhaul has always been a reliable company. With the promotion, one month free, it really messed my account. Also, card key never worked. The employees that presently working have always been kind. If I have thought renting a storage unit would be a hassle, I should have sold all my things and start over. I rented a 8 x 8.

I have rented and used U-Haul services for years, but this facility is the worst facility I have ever done business with. This facility has the most incompetent employees I've ever had to deal with. We had a U-box to be picked up on Oct 6th, but they did not have it available. We then rented a truck at 3 PM, returned it between 9-9:30 on Oct 7th, and they wanted to charge us for a two day rental. Lastly, because they did not have the U-box available, we were forced to rent one of their storage unit, which was disgustingly nasty and unacceptable. Their were poison rat boxes inside of the unit, no lights and very smelly. Due to these concerns, we told them we did not want to acquire this unit, and asked for a much better presentable one . They proceeded to state they didn't have any other units available. This was the last and only available unit. We proceeded to have the attendant cancel the request, which she said she did, but on Oct 8th, I received an email stating I was first late paying for the storage unit and then charged a $15 late penalty fee. All of this in a 2-day span. We called the facility on Oct 9th, talked to the same attendant who assisted us, and she was unable to figure out the issue, or assist us as to why we are being charged for a unit we cancelled immediately. We have a copy of the paperwork saying the charges were reversed, but it doesn't reflect on charges of the invoice receipt. I had concerns then, and now I see why. This facility should no longer provide or ever again assist future customers. Avoid them at all cost. The entire day with that U-Haul facility was the worst and most unforgettable day. We were in forced placed our HHGs at another storage facility, in hopes of finding someone professionally capable of having it shipped out to the west coast as originally scheduled. I cannot stress this any more, stay completely away from this U-Haul facility at all cost.

Some of the staff members was not friendly at all especially when I call from Texas to pay my bill they were accusing me of being somebody else and try to overpay me they told me that I owe such and such on the storage which I didn't and it was just a lot going on and since I've been back to South bend Indiana everything is clean and neat there but the little disorganized it seem like a lot of youngsters are working up there that's not really knowing how to download and find people storage and things so y'all might need to work on that but what I recommend you whole of course cuz I have you holding Texas as well thanks again for your services but I won't be using you anytime soon in South bend thank you

It's impossible reach anyone at this location. I've tried to speak with someone onsite regarding making payments towards my storage unit balance over the course of 2 months . Everytime I get transferred to the call center where they leave messages for the office but I've NEVER received one call from anyone. I live 2 and a half hrs away so just walking into office isn't possible. The only communication I had them is the emails I received when payment was due and now the final notice. I don't care how busy a business is it for never be impossible speak with them. Especially over a couple months. People moce out of town and use storage for a reason. It should not be made impossible for us to care of any matter. Now my storage unit is up for auction if it hasn't been auctioned off already.

The GM T the Facility was very rude and I felt like he was being racist because we are white.I would not recommend that storage facility or that you have a sub to anybody

It would have been perfect if not for my interaction with staff just prior to move out. I attempted to call facility several times with questions about my move out but was put on hold 20-30 minutes each time then disconnected with no help from staff member.

My personal experience with storage facilities has been with a 10x15 you pay $100 not an 8x8 like at uhaul.

The facility was dimly lit with very narrow access for storage space. The storage space was wet with mold marks on the wall and water on the floor.

I was one locker away from the climate-controlled zone but was charged for climate control. You also need to buy their expensive $10 lock, which the staff didn't tell me when I first got my rental.
