Our experience was horrific . we are moving from Wi to indiana. We called several times to get the sign in instructions for our unit — the unit #, access codes etc and the calls always jumped to the national office because the message said the local store was busy. we were not given the option to wait on hold, leave a message. or get a call back which was problematic because the national office couldn’t help us w that. then when we finally got thru it was 4:55 and the person answering the phone would NOT check us in because she was closing. the next day we were told the store doesn’t close until 7. it seemed like she programmed the phones so she didn’t need to answer them. then she wouldn’t check us in to avoid the work. we hired movers to unpack but they couldn’t unpack. She offered to send a check in link BUT we were told that if we did that, we would miss out on the first month free on storage. she said she’d send me a link which would allow me to still get the free month to get me off the phone but again that was untrue. we were also assured the unit would accommodate the contents of the truck and trailer which was not true. as a result, we went to a better u haul storage facility on Grape sr which got better reviews for a second unit, As a result of the problems called by U Hsul we incurred extra moving expenses , delays, and hassles . based on other online reviews, it seems as though many people have had bad experiences w this location too. Sadly, our experience w the wisconsin location was also bad . The issues in Wi could have also been resolved if we could’ve gotten in touch w someone from the local shop but the national line didn’t have a # to give us do we couldn’t even get the truck we reserved and we had to wait until the next morning. when we called Friday the message said there would be over an hour wait. i could not be more disappointed and unhappy w Uhsul . the phone system and staff create a minefield of problems. i would certainly love to discuss this w a manager who could offer up some compensation for the ongoing inconveniences, and delays and frustration we encountered. I did share this info w the person working Sunday morning ( Dashinka). She was the one bright spot in our U haul experience. She said she’d tell her manager about all of the missteps of the saturday staff person but the store never contacted us to follow up in any way. i would like a second month of free storage to help off set the additional charges we incurred as a result of her actions. we had to pay for extra moving time when we moved to a separate location
