The most unprofessional, incompetent and useless staff. (Apart from one guy). Nothing worked properly. I was tricked with a unit with a huge pillar in it. All in all the worst business I’ve ever dealt with. Will be making sure to put my experience online for all to be warned if this poorly run place.

Moving is generally stressful so it is important that everything goes well at least with the truck rental. I reserved a 20ft truck and on the morning of my move was notified that I would be getting a 15 ft truck because the 20 footer would not be returned in time. Upon arrival to secure the truck I was informed there was 1/8 of gas in the tank. Wow?!!! You expect people to get gas before they move. I was also encouraged to return it with more gas to get a discount. You actually want someone to do what an employee should be doing, ensuring there is enough gas in the truck for a customer's use. Finally, I was charged 7.00 for a dolly I didn't request. I rented a 10.00 dolly. I received both. I will add the staff was extremely polite and professional.

This experience was honestly horrible. Things in Chicago (for the first half of the reservation) were mostly fine (though my Moving Help movers were 2.5 hours late), but organizing the collection of my items in Los Angeles was beyond frustrating. I originally scheduled time to collect my items on site at the Downtown LA UHaul location on 10/18/2020. On 10/14 I received a phone call from UHaul about my appointment for that day(?), and I confirmed on the phone that I would not be in LA until the 18th. I was told then that I could collect my items on the 18th at the Downtown location. On 10/16 I received another phone call from UHaul telling me that my items were being shipped to a warehouse, and that I could pick them up there. I called back, and the person on the other line was extremely unhelpful. She then let me know that I would be unable to collect my items on 10/18, despite being confirmed twice before, as the warehouse is closed on Sundays. I then inquired about delivery for Monday 10/19, and was told it was not an option. Instead, I was told that I could access my belongings at the warehouse until 7pm on Monday. I was then able to schedule an appointment for 6pm Monday to access my belongings. On Monday 10/19, I travelled to the warehouse, arriving at 6pm for my "appointment", only to discover that they had closed at 5pm. I called UHaul, and they denied having set an appointment for me, and told me there was nothing they could do. On Tuesday 10/20, I got back in touch and was then told that delivery was, in fact, an option. I was able to schedule a delivery for the next day, Wednesday 10/21. Maria and Kyle were very helpful getting this organized. The delivery was on time and Jennifer was very helpful during drop off and pickup. However, overall, the entire experience in Los Angeles was a nightmare. The cost of this move was nearly $1500, and it was simply not handled with care by UHaul. The customer service and distribution of information was both unorganized and inconsistent. This move ensured for me that I can not rely on UHaul again in the future.

I was not pleased that I had made the reservation to pick up at a site that was within walking distance of the residence we were moving from, but two days before, when uhaul called for final confirmation, they informed me that I had to pick up from a site that was a distance away and took an hour and a half to pick up. I paid $1377. For that kind of money, it seems Uhaul could have made a little effort to have a truck available at the closer location. I will warn people that Uhaul does not stand by their initial reservation.

I believe the cashier's name was Jason Zamora. He was super cocky and condescending with his service with customers. Not a good practice to ask customers private information out loud. Uhaul should rethink this correspondence. No customers should have to repeat their old address, new address, personal email, contact number, emergency name and number - all the while, there is a long line listening in. Terrible setup and void of any privacy whatsoever. Also, the 10' box truck was filthy. Driver side visor clip is broken, so the visor flips down and covers the sight line every second - very dangerous when driving. The cargo was filthy as though the workers did not clean it. Deplorable Uhaul location and brings the Uhaul brand to shame.

The commuter system was hung up when we arrived to pickup our van. It was over 30 minutes where the U-haul agents could not get into the system to start our rental paperwork. I could not get into the U-haul APP either... it locked up when asked for the store location even though my phone location was turned on. The APP froze. This was a major problem as other customers came and were also locked out. I have to commend the U-haul agents who were explaining their system issue and they kept trying to get it to work. They apologized for the inconvenience, but there seemed to be nothing they could do to solve the issue any sooner. Maybe there should be a phone number for a system "Help Desk" that could assist the agents when issues arise regarding U-haul's computer rental problems? I've rented trucks & vans from this location multiple times before and have not had this kind of problem occur. That's why I gave U-haul a higher review rating in spite of the long delay THIS time. I made the reservation two months ago for a 26' truck. I received a call the night before (7pm) that the truck was not available at the location I reserved the truck for. It was 10 miles west. They tried to get me into a 20' truck but I had to return it. That doesn't make sense. The background is that my car was totaled two days prior and I had to ride share to the location. The other location 10 miles west of downtown Chicago was not feasible: it was rush hour and I only had the elevator reserved for an hour. Everything did not fall into place not did the associate help me. He could not help me at all and sent me on my way. This was horrible service and an inconvenience for something that should have never happened. Why would you think changing a truck location from an already reserved truck be ok? This company lacked the logic and customer service. U-haul, you lost my business.

Nothing, it was excellent! The culture there and relationships between employees and manager is great. It looks like a very fun and funny atmosphere to work in. Customer service is on point and I go there quite frequently for my two storage units and truck rental. Wouldn't want to go to any other uhaul if I had the choice!

I rented a truck from 1pm to 5pm. The staff didn't give any instructions on how to return it other than to leave the keys. I knew nothing about the online check out process and was charged an “after hours” fee although the truck was returned right at 5pm. When we pulled in the staff were locking up and told us to drop the truck off in front. Again, no mention of an online check out or any other steps required. This is disingenuous and poor customer service to intentionally omit the requirements so you can extort additional money from customers. I will not be returning to this location.

There needs to be better inspection of the equipment. I rented a tow dolly & the light came out of its housing as I was driving on the highway. I was forced to stop & buy screws & a screwdriver to put it back in, in order to continue my trip. I was very inconvenienced & not happy at all.

My unit was in the south part of the facility. There is a large bump to move carts over to get there and with a loaded cart that is difficult. I question the safety of the outermost units as it seems a trip out the window would be too easy especially with all the tripping and bumping hazards. The concrete beams are like 5'4" off the floor, way too easy to bump into. The floors in general are noisy to move carts over making the experience worse. Maybe the other parts of the building are better but not the south part sorry.

In hindsight, I should have stopped to put a little bit of gas in the tank. However, since I only drove ~12 miles and the gas needle moved from the topside of the 1/4 tank line just to the underside, 50/50 on if this was ok and if I should put a gallon in or not. I lost that bet and to be charged ~$14 for fuel and to be charged a $30 Fee is absolutely insane. $44 additional for about $3 of fuel is the most insane mark up I could imagine. I could easily understand if there was a truck returned with extremely low fuel when returned to have that kind of fee. That would make sense. But for a trip that was only 12 miles, I find that additional fee/charge absolutely ridiculous. Won't be recommending Uhaul to anyone anytime soon.

This was my 3rd year storing with U haul. The units are fine (many weirdly shaped so always see it before committing to it) the access routine is nice and makes me feel secure. The only complaint I have is it it almost impossible to get a hold of the office staff by phone if you need something. I called 7 times and the call kept getting sent to a call center because the office staff weren’t answering. The call center couldn’t help me so they (on 3 different occasions) contacted the office for me and told them to call me back but no one ever did. I was finally told by the call center that I would have to go into the office personally to resolve my issue but I live out of state so that was not possible.

The staff at the location were great. However, it seems the online part of finding the vehicle independently is not working well. I wandered about the lot for 20 minutes to find my vehicle and it was not where the online check in said. Ultimately I had to go inside to ask where it was. So much for contactless pick up. In addition, because of this, I was unable to pick up my vehicle on time (again so much for “saving time by checking in online”), yet my vehicle was still due back at the same original time? Unfair and misleading by Uhaul, NOT the location.

My initial appointment was for 10.30 AM. I received a call at 10.15 saying that they have changed the time of my scheduled appointment. Quite unprofessional staff, to be honest. At 6.30 PM they gave me a vehicle that was not parked at the spot where I was told it was parked. So I lost about half hour there to find the spot. The truck was almost without gas. 5 minutes after I started the engine, different engine lights came on and the truck said it had only 40 miles of gas. I had to go to the gas station to first fill the tank, and then go for my business. Overall, disgusting. This is my first and last time using Uhaul.

The person less check in online was a giant waste of my time. After getting to the uhaul site it took 40 minutes because you multiple "verification checks" what the hell is the point when it takes 40 minutes AFTER I get there?! WHY IS THATNOT PART OF THE RESERVATION PROCESS?? You made it clear that for the rest of my life I will use ANY company that is not called U Haul

My trailer was late and not at the location I originally asked for it. You staff contacted someone about it and I called two hours in advance and yet when I arrived nothing was ready I think had to drive 25 mins to get one that was ready. Also at two separate locations not a single employed person was wearing a mask or face coverage. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

My pick up location was changed from South Loop without me being notified. The agent indicated it was not her problem and I needed to go to the 700 W Erie by Lyft/Uber. In fact I received the site change notification while I was talking to the South Loop agent. After expressing my dismay and incredulity, the agent got the manager involved. The manager did the right thing and changed my reservation back to South Loop. The moral of the story is that Uhaul needs to honor your customers' requested pickup reservation. I chose 500 South Loop as it is the closest to where I was staying from out of town. This experience has soured me on using UHaul again. It may be time to switch to Penske.

The only feedback I have that is negative is that the floors are always so dirty. If I kneel on the floor to work on something from my unit, the dirt cakes on to the knees of my pants . Other than that, everything was excellent.

the floors are the main problem, they are very uneven and rough. things on carts bounce around and it's hard to control. boxes on carts are one thing but in reality people move all kinds of stuff. also the VERY low intrusions are a problem, one must be extremely careful. The good - the indoor loading dock is nice and there are plentiful slots.

All my stuff were filled with dust. The sanded the floor in the corridors without covering anything and everything was filled with so much sand dust. This is so unacceptable from the storage facility. You should have warned people so at least they can come and cover their stuff with plastic.

I got lost find the U-Haul place. When I call this gentle help me, he even meet me outside so I can step in there facility. Then another men help me with the storage. Set it up and everything. I was told I was getting a refund upon moving by 5. They closed my account and avoided refunding me. I called and asked where my money was and “they already deleted my record”... how convenient on my refund day? Was my refund processed, you ask? I still haven’t received it. They yelled at me in the phone like I shouldn’t be mad they tried to avoid my refund. Terrible service.
