Hide Away Storage South Sarasota 8901 S Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34238 The review is based on the above location that I did the 24/7 online reservation. When I arrived to pick up the truck and dollyâ€¦it wasn't there. I called the 800/888 number and spoke with someone that stated that the truck I reserved wasn't returned. I made the reservation on 11/14 and it started in the email that someone would call me by 5pm on 11/19. That call/contact never happened. I get to the new location to pick up the truck but it doesn't have the dolly that I requested. I will never use/ refer Uhaul ever again.Willie M.

The trailer has no way of using bungie cords for tying down furniture and also doesn't have any springs. With the roughness of the highway roads and bouncing several of our items were damaged even though they were covered with moving blankets. Not very happy with this and will not be renting a 5 x 8 trailer again or recommending this to anyone else.Jo-Anne P.

The initial fuel reading was inaccurate, it was represented as 3/4 of a tank of gas when in reality once I got on the road and headed away from the outlet the gas gauge showed more like half full. I then purchased 8 gallons of gas when only 6 gallons were used due to the 106 miles of distance I put on the truck but still was charged a fuel surcharge of $10. That was disappointing but That was my only negative experience everything else was greatShawn H.

Overzealous Uhaul employee kept pushing for an additional $10+ fee for as he said (the gas gauge was just a smidge below 1/2 tank). I explained that I only used the truck 32 miles and put 2.75 gallons of gas back in to return it to the 191 miles until empty marker that the gauge stated when I picked it up. tell your dispatcher Dave Vandered at this location, to look up his company information at the drop off, dont tell the customer to GOOGLE IT. Also tell him to look happy & not piss at dont his job. I asked him to send me to a location with storage to pick up the 1 month free storage, he sent me to garage ( they only store return truck), i had to call cenral booking to change it to a closer location & with storage capability. Kerry the central reservation was very helpful, she had to undo all his mistakes & start all over for me & look up location for me.Alan L.

Although the location and equipments were ok, unfortunately I can't say the same about the employees. First, I made an online reservation and when I arrived at the place I discovered that they don't have the equipment I needed. Second, the professionals, people without the least preparation to deal with the public. Rude, fatigued, lacking the least shine and dealing with customers. And finally, the slowness in the system, which leaves employees even more stunned and impatient. If i can suggest something, training how to deal with customers. Except for the fact that not everyone is the same. I'm not generalizing.Uilton D.

our origin site U-Haul had posted an inaccurate drop off location, despite having all our correct destination information, and when we went there, management said we had to solve the problem ourselves and couldn't help us, so we sat on hold on a pile of boxes, phoning for 15 min. Finally, she offered to arrange a drop-off for us via computer entry which just took a couple of minutes. We appreciated her delayed efforts, but did not appreciate her initial rudeness. Company policy should cover mistakes made by U-Haul vendors and not make customers fend for themselves.james R.

The technician who helped hook up the trailer was fantastic, he is knowledgeable, and has great customer service skills, he was off but had stopped by and someone else had called in he stayed and we are glad he did, he went above and beyond what most people would do, he corrected the hitch ball to the correct one, helped make sure it was on properly and was very helpful, He showed excellent customer service follow through, definitely an asset to U-Haul, equipment was in good order, we had no issuesScott T.
We had a reservation at a location a couple of miles from us. No truck available. Sent us to this location. Would not give us compensation to have to drive further and pay additional mileage. I experienced many issues with this Uhaul location but especially with management (Store Manager named Cherokee). The office never answers the phone and it's re-routed to national with one hour+ wait times. You cannot make a partial payment online or through an operator, only through the store manager. There were two manager transitions and the 1st manager had changed my due date from the 4th to the 18th. The recent manager said, "well, that's why he's no longer the manager of this store" and threatened to sell my things on their auction on Wednesday (in 2 days) but the letter I had just received 2 days prior said I had to pay full amount by 8/1 or things would be sold 8/18 (and she was threatening 7/27). Anyway, I have never experienced such poor customer service and communication from an establishment, let alone a store manager. I then call national. I am informed my account was paid in full with my credit card on file 3 days prior(so why was she demanding payment over the phone and threatening to sell my things?! Even saying my things were worth more than my bill!!) I was not set up on automatic payments and was never informed via phone message/letter/email this was happening. I went to Uhaul to start moving my things and there's a lock on my unit. I go to the office and the store manager, Cherokee, is immediately rude AGAIN saying, "well, are you going to pay your bill?". I had to tell her to look in her system and she could see it had been paid and they are the ones that ran my card?! The day after I arrived at night and she and another employee were there when I arrived and 10 minutes in the alarm starts going off and we had to stop loading the car and leave. The very next evening I arrived and there were several cardboard boxes, garbage,a rat trap with poison balls spilled out, and a hand truck in front of my unit. I feel this was done in retaliation because when we argued over the phone. These are a few examples of her unprofessionalism, lack of tact and communication skills, and her passive-aggressive pettiness to retaliate to my frustrations. I emptied the unit a week early and will never deal with such immaturity again. Understaffed and every time I came to my unit there were items piled in from of my door. Sometimes it would be dollys other times boxes and other items. The supervisor I did speak to was helpful, and the manager of the facility are the only people I give credit to and I really would like the thank. Other then that I will never use UHAUL again! I ended up having to pay more for a truck I shouldn't have gotten charged for because the lack of knowledge to help me get INSIDE a storage lacks. I got sent to a 2nd place just to be able to be moved and was given access, but arrived and access didn't work. Again, thank you to the manager who came out living far just to help me get moved in!! The confusion, and lack of description to help with the moving process was very unsetting. My move in process was very frustrating and pushed us back and caused alot of headaches. 90 degrees is unacceptable. I understand it's Florida summer...but advertising a place as "climate controlled" should mean the temperature is controlled. I took pictures of the thermostat in the faciliy. Right when we got there it was at 90. After 15 mins it crept up to 94. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they didn't seem to think it was a problem. One of the associates even joked that the facility was without A/C for 2 full weeks last month.
