The user experience of the mobile pick up was a bit clunky. There should be an outline of the steps for mobile pick up provided at reservation. When we booked it just said you can't start this process until you are at the location which meant when we were at the location we were trying to figure out what to do. We showed up about 30 minutes early and I am glad that we did because a lot of the directions were not clear for example the photo of the driver was declined because he had sunglasses on, that should have been more clear. Also in the end he had to go inside and get the keys from a person and although it said skip the line that wasn't actually an option because the person working is busy helping other folks. All and all it was a good experience but there is a lot of room for improvement.Kyle L.

The lock in the back of truck was not working, so I could not lock the cargo area of the truck. When I complained, I was not offered a new vehicle and was forced to buy an extra lock (not even offered a courtesy one, or a discount) as absolutely NO alternative was offered and, when I asked about all the above, nothing could be done. The truck also reeked of smoke and the steering wheel was not properly aligned, feeling unresponsive specially on straights on the road. It felt unsafe to driveAllex P.

After receiving the keys we found our van was blocked by other vehicles. We were on a time crunch, trying to get across the city, so this added extra stress to our moving day. I had already done my inspection of the first van expecting the vehicle that blocked us to be moved but instead we were assigned a new van. By the time we left it was 35 minutes after we arrived. We were not offered any compensation for this delayAndrew P.
My U-Box was over 7 days late. Staff at the loading location were often rude and took almost an hour to access. I constant call for support, often being told a number of different things to simply get me off the line. This has been an extremely exhausting process and I truly and deeply regret shipping with U-Haul, I'll be sure it make a note on experience on all up locally available review sites as possible, because I do not wish this experience on anyone. Our unit was recently affected due to the flood in the facility. We did appreciate receiving a phone call from the front office to check for damage. Based on the watermarks on our items, there was at least a foot of water in our unit. We paid for the additional insurance provided as an option by U-Haul and were encouraged by the front office to file a claim. We filed a claim and it was immediately denied because U-Haul told the insurer the flood was caused by the city sewers overflowing and this was not covered by the insurer. Did U-Haul file a claim with the city if this in fact was the cause of the flood? Did U-Haul offer to pass on any compensation received from the city to those tenants affected? Did U-Haul offer any compensation for our inconvenience and time clearing out the unit, throwing out hundreds of dollars worth of property and trying to salvage what we could? (but honestly, we didn't know what was in that water...) No follow up from U-Haul at all. Basically we paid for additional insurance (again offered by U-Haul) which isn't covering any of our losses. It seems like the customers are the ones out of pocket from this and we had no recourse but to stop using the facility altogether.AdamGail W. | Overall Experience

Truck transmission was malfanctioning that lead to higher gas consumption and delay in return of the vehicle. Truck was used for 4 hours only (4p.m. to 8p.m) but I was charged $20 extra ! Tryed to call to the location many times at 6p.m but nobody was available. Overall service very poor. Next time will use your competitors for sure !Arthur R.
To start off, the pickup location was moved the day before from a location right around the corner from me to one that was 25 minutes away. So really not a great start to an already busy and stressful day. When we arrived, the gentleman who checked us in definitely did not want to be there. He walked so slow it was almost backwards and had zero concern for us - no hello, welcome, thank you, smile, nothing. I let him know that we just had to drive 20km to come get the truck and if we could receive a credit for kms since we only had a certain quota. He pointed to his managers office (Tanya). She was extremely polite and helpful and provided a credit. But the she asked me if I knew that the cost had increased because we asked to change the drop off location from Oakville to Burlington, which that wonderfully friendly gentleman had not. Then Tanya realized that our reservation hadn't even been processed. Fast forward one hour later, our reservation not going through 3 or 4 times, Tanya having to call head office, and the truck was finally brought around to the front. Only to realize that the truck was completely empty - no gas. Plus the gentleman who checked us in, parked the truck right in the middle of the lane, so we had another guy yelling at us to move, which literally almost cause a parking lot fight. An absolute horrible experience. We were behind by over an hour, traffic was horrible (hence why we didn't choose that pickup location from the start), we were already exhausted, our movers had to wait an extra hour for us to return and to top it off, we had to stop and fill the truck up with gas.ALEX W.

The online check in was a disaster and simply didn't work so we ended up having to wait inline inside to complete the rental. Also the first truck we given was inaccessible in the lot so we had to go all the way back into the building and stand inline again to be assigned a new vehicle. The clerk at the counter was very helpful when the truck I ordered was blocked. Another staff member who was parking trucks in the lot had a terrible attitude. My truck was blocked in and when I tried to ask if he was moving trucks out of the way he ignored me, made no eye contact, and had a bad attitude. The location is great and in fact, they made up for the lack of organization of Uhaul itself. Uhaul as an organization is not communicating properly with its individual on the ground people or customers. The automated portion of the van retrieval is great, and easy to follow, but the issue being that I still had to wait in line to acquire the key is a bit frustrating. Additionally, it's confusing where to pick up the vans, as they are in the back of the building. All in all, I arrived at the location at 12:20 and left with the van at 1pm so 40 minutes total for automated retrieval is too long. There was only one person at the desk and there was a line up of 8 by the time I left (I was 4th when I arrived), Also there's no parking available. Additionally the van I received was completely damaged in the front bumper (deeply dented and crushed in) and when I asked if it was still driveable, they seemed to think so, and it was actually fine, but you really should have those vans taken out of the offering until fixed (there were plenty other from what I saw). Worst customer service experience of my life. I rented via truck share. When I arrived, the vehicle was not where it was listed. The Uhaul lot attendant had no idea what Uhaul truck share was and directed me into the store. I ended up waiting in line for 30 minutes, at which point they told me there was nothing they could do for me. I had to complete the vehicle inspection step on the app before they would give me any keys, and before I had even seen the vehicle. They then handed the keys to a lot attendant who then went to talk to the onsite manager for another 15 minutes. When I asked how long it would be, the onsite manager told me to go away and to wait until they were done. The vehicle did not come with the equipment I had requested and as a result I had to pay for last minute manual labour to help me move a few things.Jonathan O.

Going to this location was overall stressful. It took forever for me to find my vehicle and when I did it was blocked in my other vehicles. Returning the vehicle was not a fun experience as there was barely any room at the entrance so I ended up having to back out onto the busy road and go in the exit instead. Have more staff during pick up hours. There was only one person checking out customers. I lost over an hour waiting in line waiting to pick up my vehicle, which set off a chain reaction of further delays to my move. When I arrived for my 8am reservation there were 15 people ahead of me and another 5-10 behind me each taking between 8-12 minutes to get their vehicles. Check in was easy and quick. The vehicle was better than expected. Quite happy. However the service at check out was very disappointing. The outside representative was watching something on his phone (while very clearly ignoring me). When I approached him, he quickly put away his phone and earbuds and tried to look busy. Booked a cargo van for Sunday June 13th. I was sent to a location that was not open on Sundays. Had to then spend an hour waiting to get another booking. This made me late for the equipment rental I had book which cost me an additional $45 for the rental. Please make sure you do not send anyone to pick up a vehicle at a location that is not open on Sundays. First, I was called in the morning to be informed that the trailer that I was supposed to pick up at 8:30 am would now be ready at 4:30 pm. I had to scramble to sort the orders that had to be picked up. Upon arrival at the depot, the service was horrendous. After registering I was told to go outside and a lady would look after me. I got outside and there was nobody. I was then told to get help from a guy. The guy sent me back stating that he was not doing what I had asked for. I went back and asked for more help only to be rudely told that they were busy and I should go outside and wait for someone to come and help me. FYI, I was the only customer inside and none of the workers were on the phone answering questions. The one lady was cheat chatting with two gentlemen I walked out and said â€œsome service this isâ€ . When I approached the lady for help she was on the phone and when I asked for help, she told me that she would help me when she was done and told me to go to my car. All I wanted was the tail lights to be provided to me. I was already late for my orders. I have rented from u-haul before and this was the worst service.Melton M.

Someone tried to break into my unit!!! Someone tried to cut through the metal latch. They didn’t get through all the way thankfully. But I couldn’t get into my own unit because they broke it so bad. Staff on site were helpful in helping me get into my own unit with tools. But there is definitely a serious security flaw at this facility if stuff like this can happen. Would not recommend this facility due to this poor security. And is anyone going back to look at the video footage of someone trying to break into my unit? Should a police report be filed? The person who checked me in was very nice and patient. She gave very clear instructions to access the facility (down to which parking bay was best for the truck I rented). The dollies were super convenient and appreciated. The place felt very clean and well cared for and the floors were so smooth for moving dollies - really great. Only one point of feedback: The elevator door closes as soon as you exit, which was difficult for us moving the dolly into the elevator as it closed on us a few times. Would be better if the door waited a little before closing. Also it would be nice to have another elevator for busier days so there is less waiting, but that is a smaller detail. Upon initial move in, the area of use in the storage unit did not meet the advised dimensions because of the fire sprinkler pipe running through the unit. We were forced to upgrade to something 3x the price to offload our items. This was unfortunate, but the manager Tanya was very patient and responsive when addressing my concerns. Hasty market took 30 minutes to give me the keys and return the car. There is only 1 car in the parking lot. Spending an hour waiting in a convenience store when it's completely empty doesn't make much sense to me. Especially when he had my ID and credit card the entire time. Was he stealing my identity? Purchasing, check in, and access was simple and secure both for pedestrian and cars (you can pull right into a covered loading dock for self storage). I purchased a climate controlled locker and was surprised how clean and well lit the facility was. Although my unit was on the 2nd floor, the elevator worked smoothly and there were wheeled carts available to borrow. I was impressed to find a poison control box in my storage unit too. I enjoyed how the entrance to self storage is located close to the front, rather than the back of other self storage facilities I've seen. The only small inconvenience were the steps / ledge at the loading dock for smaller/van-sized vehicles. There was not a lot of room to move large furniture and it required lifting from the van to the ledge at chest level. More room and a ramp would have been ideal, but with 2 or more people it is not a problem. Although there was a bit of a wait (Sunday) the day I moved in, all representatives were very pleasant and helpful, and the general manager was accommodating when I requested a unit on a lower floor. They were also helpful when I was unsure about what size storage locker to purchase. Had to wait everytime I wanted to speak to the staff. No sense of urgency. The disc lock sold by uhaul broke with the key on falling to the ground, was not compensated for the same. While checking out, had to wait for almost 25 minutes to get the representative to give me the clearance. I was emailed asking to pay for the next month even after checking out. I am 6' 1" and because of a structural column, the entrance to our compartment is about 5" on a higher level, so I climb the steps, and smashed my head against the door. There should be a warning on the door, watch your head, especially because the compartments on either side have normal height doors. I went home with my face covered in blood. We were a long term rental (16 month) and we enquirer about long term rates - asked to speak with manager who was hard to get a hold of. Finally manager approved a 1 mnth rebate - but only if I was to call back before the next processing month. Positives: The storage unit met its purpose for us, the staff was friendly anytime time we interacted with them. Negatives: The access hours are inconvenient, you can’t always predict how long a move will take. I’ve written about this before to U-Haul and did not get any response. When we moved into the unit I had booked online previous but was made to go through the entire process again. I am not sure how it was possible but it too 40+ minutes, not including the time I waited in line.
