I have 4 issues with this process of moving from ON to NB with UHaul. The booking process was horrible, I had my first reservation deleted from the system and if I didn't call back to change the date I would not have found out about it. When the person who I spoke too rebooked me, they booked a one way trip and the next day Traffic called me and said there are no trucks available and just left it at that. Finally my wife and I went into the location to book it in person. When we got to Montreal we were on this bridge that went through the city with a lot of the road dividers that are on bridges, the truck was hitting very hard, the first bump the hood lifted about 4 or 5 inches, at first we didn't know what happened. It almost seemed like the dash moved, then the second bump and the hood popped up, I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me, I had to get out on this highway and close the hood latches which were not broke, they were not connected. My wife hurt her shoulder on the seatbelt from the sudden stop and my dog hit the dash. We are considering what actions to take next. The final thing was the alignment on the truck was so bad that for 30 hours I had to fight to keep the truck driving straight. I am so disappointed with this experience and the danger you put my family in that I will never use your service again.David B.

I had been contacted by some one at uhaul and told I would have a storage box St the Barton Street location only to be told on arrival that nothing had been booked. I had to try at the Centennial location where Nolan kindly listened to my frustration and then did everything he could to make the rest of my frustration with the Uhaul brand better. Terrible experience. I was going to send I a full complaint but this works. - the pickup box on the side of the building for the key had a combination lock that was based on letters. My code was supposed to be 1964 so obviously this didn't work - I had to wait half an hour for the location to open since the box didn't work and it delayed my pickup by half an hour since I was supposed to have a 24/7 contactless pickup - person inside said that there is now a lockbox on the steering wheel which was not indicated to me at all in the pickup instructions - employee unlocked the key and left the lockbox on the steering wheel and said I was good to go. I got about 1km away and had to go back and ask them to remove the lockbox as it was unsafe and I couldn't turn the truck without having the lockbox hit the shifter and put it in neutral. - none of the staff were wearing masks inside the building which is a Public Health requirement locallyPETER V.
I rented this Uhaul to move all of my belongings across the country. When I first got the uhaul, I noticed a dead bed bug present in the back of truck. I removed the bug, scanned the remainder of the uhaul, and did not see anything obvious, so I went about with loading my belongings and moving across the country. I have never had a concern with bed bugs. We inspected all of our furniture thoroughly prior to moving out, and I had already been living apart from my spouse in our new Alberta address prior to picking up this truck with no issues. Fast forward 4 months later, and all of the sudden we now have bed bugs infesting our box spring. I am absolutely mortified. I have never before had bed bugs. This uhaul was very likely infested with bed bugs from whomever used it last. I spent over $5000 on this uhaul to move across the country to now have to spend a ton of money in extermination services and likely new furniture. I want a refund for this truck. Part stolen and vehicle damaged, uhaul claims they are not responsible and has to go through my own insurance. Not secure or crooks working at facility. You expect the storage to be secure but it's not, what about camera, fence, etc to see who did damage and own up to issues, the worst customer service, will let people know to beware of uhaul and never use them as they take no responsibility for their horrible facility and incompetent people.David S. | Overall Experience

We were delayed a few hours because of a lack of access to our storage unit. We called Uhaul head office and explained the situation, they said there was no problem, life happens. The UHaul guy proceeded harass us with multiple phone calls and eventually threatened us if we did not return the truck on time. Then to top it all off he tried to close five minutes early so we couldn't return the truck on time and was EXTREMELY RUDE! He had to send someone half an hour away to pick up their rental, it didn't matter to him that we were rerouted 4 hours away at the beginning of our trip and lost a whole day just to get the truck. I'm sure it's difficult to have everything a person needs at one location depends a lot on whether a customer brings their rental equipment back on timeâ€¦.we needed to go to different locations to pick up everything I reserved almost two months ahead of timeâ€¦I think UHaul needs to be better organized and customer doesn't need to know what UHaul needs to do to make that happen, just adds to already stressful situation â€¦but staff were excellent at bringing my needs together ..l got my truck and equipment and returned it all the same dayâ€¦Thanks your efforts were appreciated DebSpencer K.

Returning the truck after working hours was a miserable experience. U-Haul's web-based application is not user-friendly. I had difficulty providing my location where I returned the truck. In addition, the younger guy at the front desk such a teenager was not well-trained to accommodate customers. He was a little bit harsh and not frienldy.ALIREDA A.

I made a booking online which said they had availability for the Rymal Rd location which is less than 2 Km's from my home. I received a phone call later in the evening saying that I would have to call another location as they wouldn't have a vehicle for me. I told them that it said online that they had availability and that they should stick to the agreement. They said they couldn't and called another location. The other location is now 7kms away which has now cost me more in Kms and gas. So instead of costing around $25 for an hour it is now over $40. The kicker is that I had to drive by the Rymal Rd location and saw plenty of trucks parked up. Really bad service wouldn't use again.Matthew L.

The only negative thing I have to say is we couldn't find the key drop box when we returned the truck after hours. The website said it would be by the main entrance. My boyfriend and I wandered around for about 30 minutes trying to find it. I'll have to drive back there when it's open to drop off the key. Hopefully we aren't charged for this! The staff were so helpful and friendly. There was a hornet's nest at the top of my storage unit and I asked to have it removed. I assumed a pest service would take care of it one evening. Without hesitation the young man at the desk out with a stick in the daylight to knock it down. He didn't want me to have to wait to get into my unit safely. Now that's great customer service. We only closed our storage account to move north. Of course we rented a truck then a second from Uhaul to move all of our belongings. The fuel in the tank was lower than indicated on the contract I had signed before checking. Upon return, I was charged for 110 km more than I drove. The problem I had was with scheduling and traffic. I was told I could pick up the trailer the day before by 7pm OR the next day around 8am. I could not get to another city (Stoney Creek) by 7 pm after work on Thursday through long weekend traffic so decided on Friday. Friday morning, I received an email as I was leaving to pick it up that my reservation had been cancelled because I did not pick it up Thursday. I called and with holding it too me 45 minutes and 2 people to get anywhere. Then, I was hung up on. So I called the SC location and in 15 minutes they fixed the reservation. They were fine. But we could not get approval to my nearby drop off store in Ottawa as reserved - Coventry Road. SC said call before I went to drop off. The person I spoke with finally was rude and said I should call during business hours. Then I was on hold. Supposedly for 35 minutes. Forget it. I went to the Innes Road store, 17 kms away rather than 6. Not happy. Drop off was fine. Nice uhaul/share system. So, all good except the logistics. Disappointed. God bless. JimJim R.
