When you reserve a rental trailer. You give all the information at the time of reservation. Then every time I have done this, you have to give it again when arriving at the location. I don't think U-Haul cares about their software system and our antiquated it works at all. It is ashame that such a large organization does not care about the efficiency of their check out process.

Get rid of your Stuart, VA location...I was hung up on 5x's trying to secure a one way truck from them and had to get a 2 way from Timberlake costing me an extra $125.00. not happy!

The office was locked at 6:50pm when the sign in the door said it was open till 7pm. I was told by the employee that I had to park the truck in a certain place and use the key drop box. I also saw this same employee turn away a customer before 7pm.

I was told that the vehicle tow trailer would work with my desired vehicle/tow combo at this location, but sent across town to another location to pick up my rental, as they said they didn't have a tow trailer available. When I arrived at the other location, they re-entered my information and told me that the combination was "not recommended", and said that they were not able to rent the equipment to me, but that I would have to rent a "tow dolly". Of course, they had one in stock, but it was scheduled to be rented the next day, so they said they couldn't rent that one to me. So, they sent me BACK across town to the location I had been at an hour ago. Once at that location, after waiting and waiting for the other location to pick up the phone to cancel whatever had been put into the computer originally, I finally rented a tow dolly, and was told I had 24hrs under the same rental price. Of course, their printer was down, so I only received an emailed receipt. When I returned the equipment the next day, I saw on the email receipt and my credit card online statement that I had been charged for another day's rental. I called the rental location, and they put me on hold. After 20 minutes on hold, someone finally picked up, and said that he could only see the original charge from when I picked up the dolly. He then transferred me to someone else, another 10 minutes on hold, and this time, the woman said that she could see both charges, and said that I had to "call in before 8" in order not to incur another day's worth of charges. I told her I was told I had 24hrs under the rental, and she said I would have to take it up with "claims services". She then transferred me to the wrong number, and called me a few minutes later, apologized, and transferred me once again. When someone picked up, they thought it was her calling, and when I attempted to describe what was going on, hung up on me. I then had to call the 1-800 number, and wait on hold once again, to finally speak with someone and describe the whole ordeal all over again, just to finally get back the extra day's worth of charges. For all the hassle I've been through, extra time, and mileage on my vehicle, I should have had all of my charges refunded. I am very dissatisfied with uhaul, and will not be returning to this or any other location if I can avoid it.

I was told that my gas fee would be waived because they noted the wrong amount of fuel to start with. I only drove the van 6 miles in total and only had a half tank of gas but they noted it at over 3/4 tank. I told him it was impossible to use more than 1/4 tank of gas to go 6 miles. they charged me $7 dollars for gas which is over 2 gallons. even if you got 12 miles per gallon of gas I should have only been charged 1.60 dollars.which is even unlikely as well. I should have not been charged at all. I brought the van back exactly at the same gas marker reading to begin with at 1/2 tank of gas.

Set rates were you can rent by the hour and get full coverage insurance by the hour or just one hour or several hours instead of nineteen dollars a day can rent it for about a one an hour and get full coverage insurance for a dollar an hour.Thanks.

Regarding your storage facility and making reservations. I walked into the storage facility and made a reservation in person so I would ensure I would have the reservation. I have the email reservation and took my credit card to hold it. It was a $0 amount. I called the day I was planning to move my things into the storage and no one at u haul could find my reservation and consequently didn't have anything available for me. SO, what is the point of the reservation?!?? You know how to take the reservation...you just don't know how to hold the reservation. I was unimpressed and quite upset and I let your personnel know about it. People that probably didn't deserve it but they heard it from me. Since you record your phone calls, then I would suggest a manager that can do something about this should make some changes and make sure this does not happen again!!

Although the location did great, corporate was terrible. I hired a company from your moving help “service” and when I had issues with them not being available after I paid them, y’all said it was a Moving “help” issue and they said it was the service provider and they wouldn’t help me. I paid U-Haul any respectful business entity would stand by a “service” no matter if it was one they provided or was provided by one of their business partners.

Quwana was a delight. My daughter and I watched her deal with a very difficult customer, first thing in the morning, and she maintained composure. Then in dealing with us - she put it behind and was pleasant and very helpful. 5 stars for Quwana!

There was only one employee running the whole location. He was doing a fine job and the best he could but there were too many people needing service for just one employee. I waited in a long line at pick up and drop off. The poor guy just needs more help. The location is below average because it is understaffed. The staff that was there was very helpful to everyone.

Schedule more than one person to work on the weekends - it's well known that ya'll are busiest on the weekends - so it only makes since. The guy that worked this past weekend though was totally awesome and handling the pressure like a "boss". No complaints about him whatsoever - however, he could have used some help - poor guy!

Make sure to have people working. Waited in line 30 min to get keys, and didn’t have another 30 to drop off keys so I put them in drop box instead. Worst kind of management I have ever seen in Lynchburg.

In my case I don't see a need for improvement. The vehicle I wanted had not been returned by my pick-up time, so your rep rented me the next size up vehicle for the same rate. This was such a relief as we were on a tight schedule and other uhaul sites did not have any available vehicles.

For a company that puts customer service first I recieved little to none when I had a problem with getting charged for mileage. All the customer service rep at 1800UHAUL could tell me was that I signed the contract therefore I was responsible. I kept explaining that we didn't even get to see a contract until after we paid for the rental. Then nothing was explained or even mentioned that there were mileage restrictions. Had that been made clear we would have not rented a truck to begin with. We were not asked where we lived. We rented the truck in Lynchburg and we lived in Altavista. They explained after the fact that the mileage they allowed us was from the store in Lynchburg to the store in Staunton. 77miles. From our house in Altavista to the house we moved to in Stuarts Draft is 93 miles. To never mention the mileage and use the signature obtained for paying as the contract signature is shady and below honest. Then to have the customer service rep act as though I was wasting her time to explain the situation and offer suggestions of ways to make this better for others; as well as getting an email from the manager of the store in Lynchburg and not even a phone call has left nothing but a bad taste in my mouth for this company and its subpar business practice. Never will I reccomend or use this company again. What was a dispute about an additional charge has become a post poor excuse for customer service.

Even when our reservation was moved to another location 20 miles away with short notice. A customer came in to the store when I was picking up supplies and Dustin worked hard to get us in a truck at the original location we reserved! He was wonderful.

They are terribly understaffed at this location. I had to wait in line 15 minutes while they worked with another client, and there were two others in line behind me. The truck had been sprayed with an awful deodorizer and then it leaked and we had to make an insurance claim. When we returned the truck, the sign said to wait with the truck and someone would come out to check us in. After waiting about 10 minutes, I went inside to find the owner standing at the counter. He just told me to leave the keys with him and he'd email me the receipt. This level of customer service was so poor that I felt compelled to write up a review, which I normally wouldn't take the time to do...

The dolly and blankets strapped to the inside of the U-Haul were in our way. There was a fee associated with each if they were cut loose. It would be good to let people know they were there and strap them to the side where the gas tank cut out already disrupts the flat wall of the truck.

This comment is not directed to the particular location, but Uhaul's policy regarding one way usage. The one way usage was appropriate, however, the cost of usage was too high. I was charged a flat rate $438.00 +tx that covers a span of 4days. I only needed the trailer for 24 hours. I was under the assumption that I would be credited the days that I didn't use. Unfortunately, I was not.

There were not enough trucks available to meet our reservation even though we made it three months ahead. We had to wait for one to come in 7 hours later, and were assured that if it came in earlier someone would call us. I called 45 minutes before it was supposed to be in and was told it wasn't in yet, that they would call when it arrived. After not getting a call I drove in person to the location and was told again it had not come in; in fact the agent called the renter in front of me and and left a curt voicemail saying he was late bringing it back. I said there are several out there, just give me a different one but was told that wasn't possible. A few minutes later the agent came back out to where we were waiting and said that it had come in after all - it was sitting there right in front of us. He said some other employee hadn't checked it in properly. No telling how long it had been sitting there ready for us after all. So no, I would not recommend this location. Their commitment to customer service and attention to detail are substandard.

I would recommend this location to a friend, but with reservation. The facility has everything that is needed, but the service is not always friendly. I would caution someone to make sure every thing is written, and confirmed, as my experience with this location was not one leaving me with a reliable feeling of carrying through commitment. Some of the staff give the impression that you are a burden in the way of their work.

I scheduled my installation about 2 weeks out. I dropped off my car fat 8 am on Friday to have my hitch installed. I get a call a few hours later to tell me that no one actually ordered the hitch, so it couldn't be installed... I go pick it up. I am told they will express order the part, at no charge, and they'll schedule a new appointment the following Wednesday. I drop off the car at 8 am on Wednesday. I ask them to confirm that they have all the parts needed, they do, but they don't have any employees (1 person for entire complex) so it can't be done until 11 minimum. I had to cancel a doctor's appointment. I get a call at 1 pm saying that while the hitch is installed, U-Haul sent them wiring kits that don't match the vehicle so they can't install the wiring. It doesn't appear that U-Haul even sells wiring kits that will work on anything but the base model Toyota Sienna.

The employees were too busy joking around and laughing instead of helping customers. The employee lied and said my reservation wasnt there and i left, i came back later and was told it was a joke. I didn't get the truck until an hour and a half after i was supposed to.

Fix the air conditioning in the office. Parking is a little confusing. We're supposed to use the yellow lines, but we don't know that, and there are all those faint white lines... Your people were friendly and helpful.

I called and reserved the van on Thursday and when I got there to pick it up, they couldn't find my reservation. To make it worse the guy that waiting on me refused to honor the price the lady gave me. She quoted me $99 for 2 days and 60 free miles. She said she was giving me the price since i had been using the storage units and was a good customer. He said they had no such deal. Basically calling me a liar. I ended up paying over $140 then to make it worse when I returned the truck I stopped and made sure the fuel was exactly where it was when I took it. They charged me for more fuel. I will never rent from them again.

The only bummer is the wait time. The 4 times we used this uhaul. We had to wait 2-4 people ahead and only 1 employee to check you in or out. Other than that it is a great place to rent from. We will be back.

Well...this was certainly an "adventure in moving" this time around. Being the third truck rental over the last couple of months and with the first two being basically flawless I expected the same with number 3. Not so much. Multiple changes of truck sizes, drop off and pick up locations got a bit, shall I say...tedious. It did, however, result in a happy ending. And the most impressive part of this "adventure" were the people. I think I spoke to everyone except the CEO of UHaul and every single person was courteous, patient, helpful. You have a great team and they all deserve a raise!

The U-Haul employee was aggressively rude and unethical; he took 30 minutes to round up rented furniture blankets - told me there were 2 dozen ("I counted them myself') but there was only 20. The truck bed was soaking wet - not suitable for placing anything on the floor - standing water puddles. The attendant insisted the truck was full of gas, yet when I stropped to refill later, it was obviously not. The gas needle was significantly past the location at pick up.

Rented a 26’ truck and vehicle transport. I picked up the truck and decided to pick up the trailer the following morning, as recommended. When I returned with my loaded truck the following morning, they discovered the hookup for the trailer lights doesn’t work. I then have to wait for roadside assistance to come fix the truck. The electrician is able to rig something to make the lights work, and tells me with the amount of corrosion under the truck, this has been a problem for a long time. 3.5 hours later, I finally am able to start my trip to Michigan. Also, nobody could answer my questions about going through toll booths with the truck. Very frustrating experience with this location.

I rate this U-Haul location a 10/10! My customer service rep was Michael Grutter and he was phenomenal throughout my entire rental process. He was very knowledgeable about U-Haul services and polite. I didn’t feel rushed throughout my rental process and he made me feel happy as well as confident about storing my belongings with U-Haul. Someone give this guy a raise! I hope that all my future experiences with U-Haul are like this. Can’t wait to do more business with this location. -HAPPY CUSTOMER :)

The gentleman for the opening shift is a regular employee and I have dealt with him often. It was graduation weekend for LU and I knew the location was going to be extremely busy. I showed up 12 minutes before opening. When he arrived at 8:56 there were already 5 of us in line. Using the inline express checkin I was able to hook up my trailer and be gone within 20 minutes. By the time I left, there were no less than 15 groups waiting for their chance. I felt so bad for the fella, but he was positive and looked ready to go. Next year, please give notice to the move in/move out weekends at the local colleges. It wasn’t fair to him that he single handedly had to basically rent out the entire fleet of vehicles/trailers in one morning by himself.

Closed earlier than the stated time on the door so we couldn’t pick up our vehicle for another day. Furthermore there was someone inside at a desk ignoring us as we knocked on the glass. I’d already paid, just needed my keys. That aside the wiring was installed horribly. Wires run through my doorway so I know they won’t last long, and I can’t wait to come back and have it replaced under my warranty. Furthermore the pigtail is taped so it runs to the inside of my van. Hello! That’s not where trailers go! When I was able to pick up my van the man there was lounged our in his car like he was at home with a beer and had a very unprofessional demeanor. Highly disappointed.

The only issue was being issued Unit 96 but it was on our account as Unit 94. Due to this we were locked out twice in 2 days and had to request that the second lock be removed.
