The mobile pickup after hours was an absolute disaster. Attempted to upload a picture of my face about 10 times to no avail. Instant messaging was clearly a bot and not a real person. Was on hold for 17 minutes before speaking to someone who could help me. I was 30 minutes late to pick up a very important piece of furniture. Truck was nice, new, and well maintained. The girl that was there was working very hard. But service was piss poor to say the least. She said 2 other people didnt show up for work. The truck i used was unsafe. The front end bounced around at 45 miles an hour. Could not go over 50 miles an hour. Among many other small things wrong with the truck. I will get a penske next time. I used penske a while back when uhaul was price gouging people. Due to a high demand on rentals. So i refused to pay theft pricing. I went back to uhaul because it is cheaper and trucks are lower. - Appreciated simplicity of storage unit reservation and payment. For ending rental, I had to go into office because website was unclear if request to end rental had been made for both units or only one. - Checking out van, through website and in office, was fairly easy. One suggestion: allow condition photos to be uploaded from Gallery, as is allowed for storage unit. - Alarms in storage unit facility went off frequently despite seemingly no one coming in/out, leaving a door open, and us being checked into unit. Waited for 25 minutes before having to wander around the lot to find someone. There were a number of Car Doolies, but he gave me the broken one because I was returning it to a different site. The Lights did not work and he said it was too cold out to change the wiring. He could of just given me another one that worked.Stephen B.

While the Van itself was clean, it really stunk from cigarette smoke. Your team was professional, but this location is extremely short-staffed. I have been here several times over the past 19 years and it is always a long wait. COVID just seemed to add to it. The app process is tedious, but I guess I will go that route in the future. I can not express enough my disappointment in Uhaul. You failed at every level. I called to make a reservation at your customer service number. I was looking to store outdoor furniture that includes 126” table. After discussing this with you advisor I was advised a 10 by 15’ unit was best. I also ordered a 26’ truck. The reservation was made weeks in advance. I consequently made plans for friends to help load out truck on move day. When I showed up Saturday I was given three adjacent, but separate 5 by 10’ units. I told the GM this would not fit the table that I had discussed with the Uhaul agent at the time of reservation. The store GM told me that I did not reserve a 10 by 15 room, rather 10 by 15 in space and he did not have a 10 by 15 room. When I described the call. He told me he had nothing, customer Service agents don’t know what they are talking about. He also told me that how could he be sure I even told the agent I had a long table. I hope you have video with audio of my in person experience. It was awful. I won’t write all of the remaining failures other that to say It took four later calls over two hours to customer service to finally learn Uhaul could not help me and instead screwed me over. The first two calls were with helpful people that put my on hold. BOTH agents in an effort to help had to place me back on hold. When they did BOTH resulted in me being put back into the Uhaul call service que to get to start over with a new person. The third person was helpful but was unable to find a first floor separate location and sent me to customer service. At customer service I was told the substitute unit given by the GM was actually a split level unit and too short for my table. I was now told Uhaul could not find a unit anywhere within 30 minutes. At this point our friends who were helping load the truck had to leave. It was a sunny Saturday when we would have finished. I had to find another facility and find people to help me Sunday. It snowed on Sunday. To top off the fun, when on Sunday I returned the truck it turns out the 14 foot substitute unit was actually 14 and the customer service person who said it wa a half that size was wrong This is who failed. The GM at Troy, MI on many levels. The person who built the customer service system that threw me back in que. Management that did not give the person any authority. The customer service person at the end, while nice, she gave bad information on the size of the unit. Mostly Uhaul upper management for leading a horrible company. By contrast I ended up renting at Public Storage. When I called them I had no wait time. They were helpful, organized and professional. On m aside about Uhauls culture is the Please Note comments below. The comments are the opposite of customer service. They set rules. Why ask for feedback and then direct orders. I used the truck for 28 miles and I filled the Gas and returned with more than the gas level it was at the time of pickup, yet I was charged $6 for gas. This is cheap business cheating customers. The customer service was EXCELLENT especially since there was â€œONLY ONEâ€ person working and servicing ALL the customers on Saturday Nov 7. When I picked up the vehicle there were 5 people in line. When I returned the vehicle there were 7 people in line and some people were complaining- not realizing the location was short staffed (one person- bare minimum service available)... he was running the complete office!!! I am a big fan of UHaul and love the chance to use your products. However, I used the Maple rd in Troy location for the first time and was quite disappointed. #1 nobody wore masks. No employee had a mask near them. It's not like they were just wearing them poorly, they were not wearing them at all. Unacceptable #2 my truck reeked of body odor, I don't think anyone had cleaned it. It was honestly filthy which is not what I am used to receiving with U-Haul Anyway, hope this is helpful. I received a call as soon as I submit the request. The rep told me the location to pick up the equipment would be in Warren. I arrived at Warren and they told me it was moved to Troy. I got to Troy and they gave me the Auto Transport trailer, but I selected the "Tractor" option in my online request. After it was obvious to me my riding mower wouldn't fit to an AT trailer they set me up with a smaller trailer with ramp. The equipment was great, no issue there. It seems there's a procedural issue in knowing where equipment is -- if it is moved, not confirming the location with the customer, and what does the Tractor option mean with asking for a trailer? What should be selected for a riding mower?Philip W.

Having 2 lines for pick up would be great. I made a reservation, did the on line check in - still took an hour to pick up. The line was long and full of people who didn't make a reservation (their choice) - but I think those who did should not be punished Also - after the hour inside - it took 15 mins to get the trailer due to people buying propane. Understand it is another stream of revenue - but again - some sort of taking turns would be appreciatedJoseph C.
Picking up was a disaster. First, I waited in line for almost 40 minutes with only 4-5 people ahead of me. Then, when I met with an employee, it took another 5-10 minutes. I had an online reservation so there was no reason it should have taken more time than to check my ID and credit card. Your office was consistently understaffed, creating long waits. I was vey put off by one of the young female office staff, not customer friendly, and down right rude. This was at your Troy Michigan office. Also, I reserved a trailer 5 days in advance but then it was not honored and had to travel to another city to get a much smaller one.
