Get someone to answer the phone and answer simple customer service questions. We turned this truck in at this location around 9:00 p.m. and tried to use the link sent by text to verify the location where we had chosen to leave the truck. Tried at least four times and it would not verify. Left the truck and placed the key in the lock box. Called the next day to verify they had received the rental back in inventory and customer service finally answered after 30 minutes on hold. Then was put back on hold for manager approval and was on hold for another 28 minutes. Finally had to drive 29 miles from our home in Morris, AL. to 1024 Montgomery Hwy location to verify everything was in order since we could not obtain verification of our overnight return of the truck. When arriving at the store there was no concern when I mentioned being on hold for basically one hour and having to drive to the location to make sure everything was in order. To sum things up, I would never recommend using any U-Haul services or products after what it took to get the truck in my possession, or the confusing lack of concern from your corporate store located in Vestavia. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had from any type of business in recent years and a complete office staff full of people in Vestavia that show a total lack of concern. I would hate to know I was running a business with the people you have on staff at this location.Paul C.

The day before pick up I was called by uhaul changing the location because the truck I reserved a week in advance did not exist. When I got to the new location, which added 30+ miles to the trip, they did not have a truck either, none of any size. I then had to go to the actual uhaul store nearby. They also did not have one. They sent me to another uhaul about ten miles across town. Finally at that location, they did not have a 10' truck either, but they did have a 26' truck. So I finally got a truck, but it was more than twice as large as needed, and it about doubled the cost of gas for that trip. I have made the same move several times, and it has never cost so much. Tracking down a truck also delayed my trip by several hours.BRET B.

When you give a 12 pm Friday pick up time do not say the time is 5 and that you do not go by that time given. I did have to have the truck I took back by 7am Saturday for another family pick up.JAMES T.

Clerks attitudes should be friendlier. I felt I was imposing on their day when I needed to purchase a lock for the truck. I truly considered not waiting for transaction to occur since I handed them enough cash for purchase but was waiting on truck to be pulled around. They also did not walk me around truck for dents, etc. and thought it odd that I insisted.LORI D.

I was supposed to be able to show up and get my truck through remote check in at 6:45. The bar code would not scan and there wasn't anyone available to help. I had to wait in line for them to open and when they opened at 7:00, they only had one person waiting on customers. While waiting in line, multiple employees came in and went straight to the back without any of them offering to come to the counter and help with the 10 or so customers waiting in line. When I finally made it to the front of the line to get my truck ( which I was supposed to get without standing in line) I was treated rudely by the general manager who was the one running the counter. i got my truck at 7:35 instead of 6:45 which made me late meeting my moving party that were waiting on me at the moving site. The exterior of the truck was extremely dirty and had multiple dents and damage to the bumpers and side panels. Upon returning the truck later in the day, I was treated rudely by the same person who had a tag on that said he was general manager. I live in Vestavia and own a business in Vestavia but, I will go to Homewood or Hoover the next time I need a truck rental.Steven T.

The employee at the location was very helpful. Our original reservation was at a different location. The night before we were told it had been switched to this location. We were supposed to have the 24/7 contactless pickup. When we arrived and attempted to check in we were told the 24/7 pickup was unavailable and had to wait an hour for them to open. Was on hold with the 1-800 number for 25 minutes waiting for the next available operator. Once we got to finally speak to an operator she was helpful, but the wait time for speaking to a person was insane.Laurence C.

When I got there they were no help. I had a reservation for an appliance dolly and they did not have one I reserved. They had NO concern about me needing this appliance dolly. I asked them could the help me I really need this to be able to do my move. The did not care at all. The said call The call the Pelham location and see if they have one. I asked if the could call. They did nothing not even respond to me I then asked again. The woman at the desk told me just go there and see. Then I did the inspection of the vehicle, it was so dirty and it was damage. I went to the Pelham location the did not have a Dolly there either. I was really put in a had situation I even called the 1800 number and they sent me to a place that was closed. I would never recommend you company. This company really put in in a very stressful situation. I just lost my mother on top of all this. This is why I need your company's products.THOMAS J.

I will never rent from U-Haul again. Service was awful. Nothing was explained. I probably should have used the app. The truck was disgusting both inside the cab and in the back. Debris was everywhere. Foot prints visible on the driver side windshield, trash on the floor. If I didn't have COVID, I probably do now because the interior of the cab was gross. I just needed to get my sick mother in law moved. Steering was definitely a chore and it popped when making turns. The truck wandered. This vehicle was unsafe at any speed. I'm grateful to have survived driving it on the interstate because it was unwieldy. What has happened U-Haul?JOHN B.

We had reserved a 12ft utility trailer with a ramp and the entire trailer was filled with gravel left over from a previous rental. Not an ideal situation for moving antique furniture. We had also reserved an appliance dolly. When we went for pick up we were informed that there were none in stock and that making a reservation only meant that we made a reservation and that it was not guaranteed for use under that contract. We had to go to a separate company, pay double to rent the much needed tool, and have rude service trying to explain to me what making a reservation meant. Unfortunately we are having to do the same this next weekend as well...Uhaul Vestavia Hills, Alabama needs to be better at accommodating customer's RESERVATIONS if they cannot fulfill them, especially when they have to pay more than expected to a different company to fulfill their original needs.ROBERT M.
Only comment, the return after hours was somewhat uncertain, but it worked out. As instructed I left the trailer on the lot at the same place I picked it up (not in a return area). I called in the net day to verify the check-in. The check-in was initiated after I called in. I did not see any ball locks being used on the trailers.
