1. On-line order not processed. 2. Long delay due to understaffed - 1 counter person taking phone calls AND walk-ins/on-line; & 1 technician overworked on a very hot day. 3. Had to hook TWO tow-dollies - first one passenger-side lights inoperative; second one lights okay but found passenger-side ramp pin jammed tight and did not discover this until attempting to load vehicle. I was able to extend ramp but not without considerable effort. Driver-side ramp pin fine. 4. Return was a repeat of pick-up with one person attending to customers while manning phone plus one technician. 5. Additional woman in U-Haul uniform (not a manager - I asked) walking around behind counter area in full view of customers but helping no one. She could have assisted on 2d register or answered phone, otherwise she should have stayed completely out of sight. IMPROVEMENTS: HIRE PEOPLE TO HELP!William B.
After a previous spot that we were told we could drop off there and couldn't we went to the West Allis place after hours. We could not get the app to work to return it. So finally on Monday afternoon when I hadn't heard from anyone I called. The person answering the phone stated yes there was a trailer there and if I gave him 10 minutes he would email me a receipt. Which he did, I never went inside or talked to anyone but on the phone.Richard and Beth H.
Horrible experience. Never again. Had to go to multiple locations to pick up the truck, just for starters, which took nearly three hours. Tried calling the next day to ask about getting some money refunded and customer service was horrible!!Cynthia C.
It rained the day we moved. The windshield wiper on the drivers side was worn out and scraping the glass when I turned them on. So we got out of the truck to investigate if it has come loose, at which point someone in U-Hauls garage noticed us and waved us in to have it replaced. We then drove home to load up the truck. We had 75% of the truck filled, when we noticed the truck was taking in rain from the ceiling in the back and dripping water on the cardboard boxes and pooling on the floor. There is a sticker in the truck that says "Our trucks are water resistant, not water proof. Make sure you put your valuable documents in a plastic container." We fashioned a quick homemade remedy with packing tape, a piece of plastic, a towel, and a plastic stool to protect not just our valuable documents, but all of our valuable belongs. I called U-Haul right away and explained the situation. They said we could bring the truck back in for another one. As far as damages were concerned, we could file a claim at their website. Since we had rearranged our schedules and needed to make the most of this day, we continued on. The next day I looked over the website to see if this information was on U-Hauls Website, about the trucks not being waterproof. I didn't see anything, not even in the "11 Tips for Driving a U-Haul Truck" which was e-mailed along with my reservation confirmation. We specifically mentioned the trucks condition to the person who checked us in including showing him the area of the truck that leaked. It was fortunate for us our move was local and only a few blocks away. My comments are posted to help U-Haul improve their service, as well as inform other customers of things they might want to consider when renting. 11 Tips for driving the truck which was e-mailed to me along with confirmation of my rental.Lori M.

Employee who checked me in took the keys, checked fuel gauge and mileage, and drove off truck to back lot. I stood there for 5 extra minutes waiting for him to come back to finalize transaction. When he finally walked in the back door, I asked him what was going on and he said I was all set. Poor training...after truck check-over, employee should review return with customer and offer a receipt. Had I not asked for a review and a receipt, I would not have known I went over allocated miles.David L.

The entire time we used the trailer it trailer sounded like it was going to jump off the ball. It was extremely nerve racking. When I brought it back and told this to the person who was unhooking if he told me the coupler was bent which could be why. Well if he noticed this in less than a minute why didn't the two people who put it on notice it?? Very unhappy with this rental.Harry S.
Well when I got there the truck was in a back lot and as I wandered looking for the truck , and couldn't find it , saw an employee and asked him he said â€œyeah it's back there â€œ didn't show me just very in helpful. I came in two days before my rental to make sure everything was in good working order. The employee didn't want to see any part of my truck and waved me off saying I'll be fine. The day of my rental the employee ran through all the lights and the left turn signal didn't work. It was determined to me my vehicles equipment probably. Maintenance should have a battery on cart with a plug and check each trailer in the yard to make sure all the lights are working, after returning from a rental. Sadly after a full hookup the mechanic learned that a LED rear light wasn't working, resulting in the need to unhook and rehook to another trailer. If anyone who cares reads this please try to implement this idea. Thank you.Paul K.

At the drop off the employee told me my final bill was 29.00 more. He told me I drove 11 miles. The gas gauge was on the same spot. He told me i did not put enough gas in, I should him my receipt. I explained to him 3 times that there was NO way I used all that gas when you just told me I drove 11 miles. He told me he was not stupid and he knows how to do math. Well, then fix the bill. I pick an26 foot truck and pay $401.0. When I went to the truck it was not even half way full which they lie . In west allis, wi. Went I drop it off location in Green Bay I stop at the gas station and pay $60.00 and put it half tank, I trip it of after hours. They didn't notice me they got the truck, I call no answer. I calll the 18000 number and they told me I own $39 , they say I didn't feel it up half tank which is a lie . I won't rent from uhaul againNidia M.
It was smooth and easy check in and check out with Elsie. My only complaint is finding the truckâ€¦ My truck was parked in. I was not in a hurry thankfully but maybe they should make a chart On a whiteboard (erasable) that can be modified and or filled out every time the position of the trucks change so the workers know where they are positioned in the lot. The chart/ lot map can put it in the front behind the front desk so the customer can look at that and see where to go to find their assigned truck. I was very grateful that I was allowed to get the truck an hour early thank you U-Haul â€¦ because honestly I had a very difficult time finding my truck the last time I rented from U-Haul I walked around for 10-15 minutes , Then had to go get help from the employee in order to find it. Good experience as always. I did the mobile pick up but couldn't get my phone to share my location. So I had to go in and the guy working at the counter whose name I can't remember right now was really great. Got me sorted out and out the door in about 5 minutes once I got to the counter. He was very patient dealing with the customers before me who was completely rude and on his phone not paying attention to what the guy was saying. Then his multiple credit cards kept getting declined even though he kept insisting how much money he has. Even still the guy working the counter kept his cool and then had to keep repeating the most basic things like where the door was for this guy to walk through and where the truck was parked. The only thing that I don't like is why they charge me with a after hours service because nobody was at the store went I drop the unit and I supposed to have 24 hrs service and I can drop the unit before that. Like a company they are charging me 20 dollars for only have the lights on on the place that I drop the unit because I just live the keys on a key box only for that they are charging me 20. The attendant marked the fuel at 7/8 full. When I got the vehicle on level ground - the road - it actually read 3/4 full. I actually put only 25 miles on the vehicle - all highway except for one mile to exit and to reenter the freeway. The EPA for that vehicle is 31mpg combined city/hwy. So, I put just over a gallon of gas in it at the station 1 block away from where I turned in the vehicle. When I turned in the vehicle I was told I would be given a fuel charge of $7.88 for TWO ADDITIONAL GALLONS OF GAS. I was not going to argue since I had people waiting for me. But even YOUR math will tell you that with only 25 miles driven, I did not use ANYWHERE NEAR 3 gallons of gas. Is this how you extort from your customers? Give them a vehicle and tell them there is more fuel in it than there really is (because, maybe, you measured it on non-level ground?) then charge them for more fuel than they could possibly have consumed? YOU figure out what you can do to improve for the next customer. Here's a hint: walk out to the vehicle with the customer and confirm the fuel and any dings. Neither was done for me and I noted several dings which the person who received the vehicle back not only did not notice but did not call them dings despite what I showed him. The reason I do not answer the "rate this location overall" is because I have nothing in my experience to rate it against. I would not know what is "average" or above or below. I have rented from this location twice, maybe three times - including yesterday's rental. If I rated it against itself, based on yesterday's experience, I would say Poor.WILLIAM B.
Personally I believe if you post the $30 for insurance or whatever, cleaning should be included in that, in my opinion there is a case to be made that it should be. A phone Mount or something would be nice in the van I had, my phone overheated on the dash board, and I've never had that problem before. I didn't like how many upsell screens I had to say no to in the checkout process. Finally, a pick up, drop off service similar to enterprise might be valuable to some people, if it is agile, and you're going to keep the amount of upsell options, knowing that would be appreciated.John R.

I reserved a 20 foot truck. I received an email confirming my reservation that stated I could pick the truck up anytime between 8 and 3. When I arrived at the location around 9:30, they told me my reservation had been canceled because they have a "no holdsies" policy. If you're not there within 15 minutes of your reservation start time, they release the truck. This clear contradiction between company policy and store policy is going to cause a lot of conflict with customers. I will certainly think twice before considering using UHaul again because you have demonstrated that my reservation is only good as long as it remains convenient for the local branch and it can be canceled with no notice to me.Shana D.

I had a reservation for a unit that I placed a few weeks ago and when I arrived I was told that it was given away. I then had to pay quite a bit more for a larger unit because it was the only unit available. Truly never had such a horrible experience. Truck was to be picked up at 11 am. Got there. No truck they say. I ask why. no answer. Asked about other trucks parked. Said waiting on other customers. so we tried to get another truck but they wouldn't comply. I had a reservation for my truck at 11 am. Well finally 1pm Finally got a truck. Played phone tag with the u-haul place. at one point they cancelled my reservation. While I'm still waiting for a truck. I have never been so frustrated in all my life. My storage unit got messed up twice! They said system errors. Then, I had a very poor experience with renting a uhaul. I didn't receive any indication that I needed to be there within 15mins of my pick up time. I was stuck with a uhaul that was 6' shorter and caused me to make 2 trips to move! Which equated for more mileage! They never reimbursed me for that extra mileage! That same day, I went in to pick up the uhaul, I was upset about the cancelation. I know I wasn't disrespectful to the lady, however, her husband, the GM Jose, embarrassed me in front of a line of people by yelling at me and threatening me!! I would hope this company would know having a husband and wife work together at a location can cause this exact issue to happen when things don't go exactly right. This location has made several mistakes and never once took ownership of there mishandling of my storage unit and rental issue. They just blamed the system. When you are a GM of a location, you need to conduct yourself that way! Jose definitely failed at that and caused a scene for no reason! He is a poor example of a leader. The employees at the location of the storage facility were helpful but I had to take a day off of work to drive there in person because no one ever picked up the phone at the location. Every time I called I was rerouted to an offsite customer service rep that would state they couldn't help me because they didn't have access to the accounts at a different location. Tried chatting online and was also told that only a rep at the exact location could help. Leaving messages didn't help either. I would get a voicemail with the general number to call back and no one would pick up again. Tried calling corporate and would sit on hold for 30-40 minutes at a time and then have the same experience. While the face to face employees were helpful, the experience I had moving was horrible with this company. I had to go between 3 locations to get a truck and storage facility and then the size that I ordered wasn't available even though I had paid for it online with a credit card already. Miscommunication from the company only created more issues with trying to relocate out of the area. I have driven over 200 miles extra to deal with issues from moving and using the storage facility. My experience was fine with the staff working at the time but I was highly frustrated with the fact thtmat the 10 by 15 I had reserved had been rented to someone else. I rented a unit online that would be large enough for the contents of a one-bedroom apartment. When I got to the facility, I was told I'd need take a cart back-and-forth to fill the unit, which I'd never had happen before. I ended up having to rent a different kind of unit I could drive up to. I reiterated that I had furniture and boxes from a one-bedroom apartment. When I got to the unit, it was only big enough for a few boxes. I feel that the prices are very high. The facility hours could be an extra hour. There is never enough staff always have to wait. I ran late four important reason and when I got to the facility I wanted to make sure that I could check out before the staff left. I think they should have oh way that they can access the key and let you be able to still use it since technically it is my last day until at least 10 or 11 because technically it still is my day instead I was locked out from being able to leave and the gentleman inside the desk was not helpful to my friend who went to tell him to let us out. Luckily there was a another employee that was outside other facility that was able to access and help us leave but we still had a couple big things to pick up and we had to leave it outside of the gate because of not being able to still have access. I don't think staff should have to be there to make sure that the unit is clean if I'm paying . They should be able to clean it out the next day that should be their job. We also rented a truck at one point and it is really misleading when they say $19 and some cents for a truck but by the time you include the miles and the hassle of bringing back the truck it was not a quick drop off there is a procedure and very time-consuming I feel that it is very expensive. I guess in a time of need and no one else has a truck a person has to be convinced that this was going to be an expensive rental and realize that they have to close their eyes about the expense of the truck. Customer service is horrible, long wait time, not knowledgeable about UHaul services and don’t care of customers needs at all...I had to look for a customer service person twice while I went to make payment and to rent a truck.
