My reservation time was 9:30am and I stood inside with no employee present until about 9:45am. Finally, they helped the next person in front of me before getting to me. I had made the reservation for a 20 foot truck days ahead of time. The employee told me they did not have any 20 foot trucks because one was being worked on and the other was out with another customer who kept extending their time. After declining a different size truck, he said I could have a 20 foot truck. He told me they have 20 foot trucks but the money would not go to his boss or that location, it would go to "the CEO of UHaul" instead. He gave me the 20 foot truck after trying to tell me there were none available because his boss would not get the money. Kind of a painful song and dance just to get the truck that I reserved and the ultimately had available.

I’ve had an entire range of experiences with U-haul. Some of them very bad. This specific location is absolutely fantastic. The storage facility is heated, convenient, clean, and well kept. The staff, particularly the man I think is the manager, was extremely understanding with our situation and well versed in the variables of performing a life changing move. This is the absolute best U-haul experience I’ve had. Go here before any other location.

Van needed an oil change, had a cracked and broken dashboard display, the back door sensor was broken, and all of the vehicles were parked stuck in snow and ice. Plus the online forms didn't work. That being said, the employees were very friendly and helpful and overall it was a simple and clean experience.

I picked up the trailer, it was connected, and then it was discovered that the lights didn't work. Trailer was swapped out for another and it was then realized that the incorrect trailer was initially attached. This is the 2nd time something like this has happened to me at this location. First time it happened in July 2023, they gave me the wrong truck and it was a total hassle. This time, the 2nd trailer that they attached was actually the correct one (that had been originally been allocated). HOWEVER, for some reason, the rate was changed and I didn't realize this until I received my electronic receipt. Instead of $434 for the rental, it was closer to $900. I called customer service on 2/14, they acknowledged that "for some reason" the rate had been changed by the location, and I'm waiting for a refund 4 days later. Too many mistakes from this location for me to rent from them again and I will be searching for alternatives next time I need a rental.

I was charged for an entire extra day for being “an hour late” however nowhere on my rental agreement did it say the drop off time. It only said “Monday”. I realized they marked 5/8 of a tank when it was 3/8 and it was too late. They rattled off every fee they could. It felt petty and exploitative.

This location was impeccable and the folks who worked there were very nice and very helpful. I would absolutely recommend U-Haul of West Hartford. HOWEVER, the booking experience is awful. This is the second time I have made a reservation at a different U-Haul location (Newfield Street, in Middletown, CT) to have that reservation canceled the day before. When I expressed my frustration to the operator who told me of the cancellation, that operator hung up on me. I do not understand why Uhaul cannot properly inventory their pickup trucks in central Connecticut but I am unlikely to bother with UHaul overall again, given I can do a short-term truck rental from other lenders such as Home Depot, who have reliable reservation systems.

I couldn't pay my bill on the 9th I kept asking if they can move it on the 15 since that's the day I get paid. They didn't want to work with me they wanted two months of rent in advance to make this happen. So I always got charge a fee for being late. And when asking if we can leave some stuff behind and they can throw it for is. since we had no more room in our vehicle, and my husband has a bad back. the employee was being rude and said they wanted everything out or they were going to charge us 150. It doesn't make since cause if I don't pay they will sell it and throw it away anyways.

The storage unit I reserved was the suggestion from U-Haul when I reserved my 20ft moving truck. It was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient to show up to unload the full moving truck with a three bedroom house worth of stuff to be given a literal closet (10x5). The facility was able to upgrade us to a 10x10, but this is still not even close to enough space for the amount we needed to store. This turned what should've been an easy move into a nightmare, where we had to drive to family houses and move our items into two different basements.

I’ve been renting there several times but last place 2501 was good but there is a person renting beneath us that Every Saturday he sets tables some type of equipment and it was inconvenient because of cores interfering with us going up and down the stairs. I dnt think a storage should be using for anything other then storing this man had the hallway always block on Saturday. Because he said he packs bags for the homeless I understand is a good deed, but not use storage facility for it. Thank you.

General manager had a bad attitude towards me because she tailgated me into the facility when I first arrived and I put the facility on notice. Without knowing who speed in the building behind me I called the number on the facilities card and put them on notice about what happened. She was knocking on the door and disappearing and doing weird things. Then she ultimately tried to accuse me of something called bath showering or something like that. I told her to end my contract and I left. My experience was bad there.

It’s absurd that you don’t prorate if someone moves out less than a week into their new billing cycle. Such a scam. So now I’m keeping an empty unit through the end of the month out of spite so you can’t re-rent it until after I get the month I paid for. You’re not the only ones who can be unreasonable.

I highly recommend your storage facility. *Would recommend a sign for people who do not know to get out of car & push garage door button to get out of building. There was a couple just sitting in their car so confused the door was opening for them. Also, 2nd floor unit did not have any covered ceiling it was open and could have been climbed down into. I noticed the unit next to it had chicken wire on top. I purchased boxes & lock too. Very convenient and reasonably priced. Thanks!

The few times I interacted with staff they were efficient and knowledgeable. Check-in was straightforward, check-out was quick and easy. Size of room and location within facility were very convenient for me and served my purpose well. Only downside of the facility is the steepness of the entrance from the road, I had to take it slowly to not scrape the bottom of my sedan. Vans and trucks and SUVs have no issue with it.

Everyone working at the Uhaul branch on south street (west hartford) was and continues to be beyond helpful with what can be very stressful times for people. Very professional, I’d give them all raises.

The ceiling tiles in our storage unit were falling onto the ground. I requested the manager, shontelle to get it repaired multiple times (in person, via email, via text) and she was unresponsive and never fixed the issue. I have pictures documenting about 10 ceiling tiles that fell which is a serious hazard to anyone walking in the storage unit and also the items kept in the storage unit. This problem was first brought up to the staff people working in the office a year ago and then to Shontelle numerous times with no results. The last two months of our time renting the unit it was INFESTED with bugs. I have several pictures and videos of this and all of your items were contaminated and needed to be cleaned. Based on the lack of response we received the first time we did not bother with contacting shontelle and instead canceled our contract and moved our items out. Unacceptable condition / dirty/ unsafe unit. One last point to mention is our concern over asbestos exposure due to the condition of the room and falling ceiling tiles/dust. Shontelle stated there was no risk, but again she has not proved to be reliable in any way. This uhaul location is very poorly managed/run.

I was locked out of my unit twice. The first time I was told I moved out, which I hadn’t and a letter was sent to my son stating I had not paid. Quite embarrassing don’t you think. I was on auto pay with a charge card. Someone there must have entered in you system the incorrect unit #. I can tell you this I won’t be back to U-Haul in the future.

Staff, especially a few managers, have been quite rude to me at times. I am very affable and there was no cause for it. One manager tried to have me evicted until I hired an attorney. Another extremely vile manager threw me out of the store for questioning a charge on my bill. I could go on and on but I think you get my point. I will say though that many of your other associates have treated me very courteously and with respect.

I didn't move in at all. The trailer hitch I reserved wasn't ready and I had to go to a different UHaul location to pick up what I needed. So, I got a unit at a different location. I reached out Thursday asking that my reservation be cancelled and the money I paid (for the insurance) be refunded back to my credit card. The representative I spoke with said it would take an hour for her to check and make sure the unit hasn't been moved-in. I followed up twice 3 hours later and I never heard back. Please send refund me my money.

The facility itself is excellent. All of my contents were safe and secure for three years. The most outstanding credit of his facility is it’s Staff. In the three years that I’ve gone back-and-forth I’ve never had anything but the utmost attention and guided care. Everyone has been extremely helpful.

I have had the storage until since August 19th, and I requested my move out on October 18th. I am still being charged for the Unit. I keep receiving emails and letters in the mail about all of the charges. I have called customer service about 4 times and no one can get a hold of a store manager or storage manager. They are always supposedly out. Many emails have been sent by the agents that have tried helping me. The people at the location are rude. When a customer service agent called, they hadn’t accept the move out on there end until a month later. The staff at the store are always telling us that the manager is out and only they can wipe out my debt. I have call a lot and no one picks up the phone. I will NOT being doing anymore business with this location anymore. I am still trying to figure out how I can get the debt erased that was Accumulated after I had already moved out and submitted it through the app.

Perks: a free month of storage, free lock, and indoor climate control was an extra bonus that allowed us to store more items than we were previously unable to store at an outdoor storage unit. Also, UHaul pricing was a monthly savings over our previous outdoor storage unit of the same size! Definitely will recommend this UHaul!

My storage locker was broken into, I had to come all the way from NC to handle it, which cost me $1000. There were NO cameras in my hallway. I had insurance, through the company that handles U-Haul storage bin insurance. Their rating was terrible with the Better Business Bureau and had many many complaints, unbeknownst to me when I purchased and paid monthly for the insurance for quite some time. I only found this out when I attempted to file a claim after being robbed. The insurance company made it very difficult to even talk to a person, I was only able to leave a voicemail. The one time I was able to talk to a person my agent that was supposed to handle my claim was supposed to call me back, and never did. I was never even able to get compensated for my loss, some of which was irreplaceable to me. I lost approximately $3000 worth of items, along with sentimental values items. The staff at the West Hartford UHaul were always very rude and it seemed to be an inconvenience to them every single time I was there, or called. The only 2 exceptions were the day I came this month to pay my bill and a couple days later when I moved out. The staff on those two days were wonderful, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I had a pretty horrible experience with this U-Haul facility overall, except for the two days this month I was there.

Arrived at the office to get key to unit and staff member said he will check the unit before he leaves to ensure there's no locked on it and it's available since they were having computer issues. Unfortunately I didn't have time to check myself due to timing and informed him that I will be back later. Arrived late afternoon with 2 cars packed with boxes to find out that the unit was locked and the items from the prior tenant were never removed. Staff member asked me to come back the next day since I arrived at closing time. Needless to say I did not return! Very disappointing experience

I went to my unit to get something and there was a red lock on the door next to my lock. I went the office and was told I moved out. I had not and was very upset not knowing if my belongings were stolen. The person at the desk kept telling me I moved out. I have auto pay and and the last payment was 7/24/2021. He came down to the unit to see if my belongings were still there and fortunately the were. I was required to sign another lease with a new date and think my payments may overlap. He told me to come back and see the manager he couldn’t do anything. And couldn’t explain how this happened. What if my belongings we stolen or you sold or disposed of them? The person at the counter was understanding and courteous but could only offer to come back to see the manager.

Got a bin n quote on line. And ur facility in WHtfd Ct. said they had no order and thus had no room for me. After much talking n upsettness. Storage was found outside for me. So I accepted it. Hving travelled early hours n tired

I cannot figure out how to turn on the lights in my hallway. If they are on motion detectors, they are set for taller persons than I. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the location and access are very convenient.

My brother Angel Cruz recommended this Uhaul location. I have to say I’m pleased with the service and absolutely will recommend this location. The two gentlemen working on Sunday were fantastic and very nice. I had an easy move out the storage and returning the rental truck! Thank you.

First truck did not turn on dead battery then had to wait for 20minutes for second truck and notice how the gas air the mileage were way off had to wait another 20minutes to fix

I don't like that I had to buy a lock from you when I already have several of my own padlocks that I could easily have used. So now I have yet another lock that I will NEVER use. That is a ridiculous policy.

Ms. Carmen Galaza and her staff were so helpful and accommodating to me when I rented a truck, then a storage unit from them during my move. I felt they wanted to make sure that I was renting the right truck and unit for my needs by going over the different options and prices.

The staff member gave me a reservation for two storage rooms and then she gave my rooms to someone else and my stuff was stuck in the truck a very bit inconvenience!! I was very angry 😡

We recently vacated our long-term storage unit, which was an emotional process, since it involved items I stored there since my mother passed away many years ago. I have to say that your Sunday crew is an amazing team and a credit to your facility. They were pleasant and professional, extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and had great senses of humor and the ability to connect with their customers. We are especially glad for William, who is not only an amazing employee, but also a wonderful person.
