We were in Iowa City and had to drive 20 miles (and pay extra gas) to drop off in Cedar Rapids, which added to valuable time when moving.

Ended up with my reservation getting changed last minute from another location because my truck choice couldn't be guaranteed. That location didn't work well for us and would have cost us a lot in extra mileage. I rebooked a different size truck guaranteed at this location the night before. The owner was wonderful to work with and even helped save us some extra money on mileage. Would definitely rent from here again.

I like the moving using box container service but unfortunately my moving was too bad. I ordered two boxes with delivery service. At first everything went smoothly as planned. The boxes arrived on time to my old address and I put my stuff into the boxes and waited for the picking up of the boxes to deliver them to my new address but I surprised the the boxes were taken to the U-haul storage area. I contacted U-haul and the driver. They apologized and rescheduled a new delivery date after few days. I stayed without furniture. On the assigned date, the U-haul again failed my expectations and delivered me new moving boxes and charged me money for a new order. I already paid for the first two boxes and the delivery fee service. I went again to the U-haul office. They immediately contacted the driver and on the same day they got me the correct boxes with my stuff. Now I am waiting to find how to get my money back. Time, money and frustration.

Possibly one of the worst experiences ever. U-box was not delivered on the day that it was supposed to be delivered. The next day, the WRONG BOX was delivered. The right box was supposed to be delivered, but never was. I eventually wound up getting the box and hauling it myself. Will never ever get a Ubox ever again.

The app was terrible and did not work properly for hands free pickup. Had to wait for a human to be available to get help. When available, they quickly took care of me. But due to the app. not working properly I lost an hour of time and cost me $70 more than it should have as I no longer had time to drop off truck in Ankeny store but had to drop off in Ames. The people on site were good but signage on where to go was poor.

Someone rented the vehicle I had reserved, a day after my reservation. I even went into the building to confirm time in second vehicle. The people they rented too were to have it back 90 minutes AFTER I was supposed to pick it up and they never brought it back. I was offered a huge 26' vehicle instead (interstate and unfamiliar city driving) and took it leaving 3 hours after my original pickup. I lost 1 helper an hour after we started and another an hour after we got to our sestination. It cost me $60 because I payed my helpers full amount anyway, and had finally finished at 6pm instead of 3pm before the heat index broke 95. Miserable experience. Corporate needs more bodies at buildings 1st of the month AND August especially with all college move ins.

I do wish there was more leeway in regard to the gas amount being exactly in the same spot as when you got it. When I filled up the tank I based it on what the gauge showed when turning the car on (but not the engine), and that gauge changed once I turned the car on. I didn't notice until later on. It wasn't a big deal, but I do wish there was more leeway!

The location was very good. It had a big parking lot, which I liked, and they had a lot of equipment. The employee I interacted with was very helpful and kind. The one thing I would say is that there were not enough people working there, but I know that is an issue around the country.

Although THIS location was helpful, the Coralville, IA location sucked. After standing in line for nearly 20 minutes with a confirmed, paid reservation, we discovered that our one-way rental was in Cedar Rapids, 25 minutes away. We were NOT told of this ahead of time. If you couldn't reach us via phone, try EMAILING or changing the pickup location on the reservation! So we had to backtrack to Cedar Rapids and were told the wrong location by the Coralville rep as to where to pick it up. I called and got the correct location, however, the rep failed to tell me the SW in the address, leading us 30 more minutes north to a dead end street with road construction. All told, it took us an additional 2.5 hours that we should not have had to deal with for a prepaid reservation. Why didn't the reservation form show the updated location? Why did the manager of Coralville act as if I should be GRATEFUL to be getting a trailer from another location? I hope not to have to rent from Uhaul again because of this, and if I do, it will certainly be my last resort. (Oh, and because we were so far behind starting due to you, we left much later than we had hoped, and my exhausted daughter got into a car accident on the way home and had to wait 4 hours until 3 am to get a tow back to Des Moines.) #thanks.

We had rented a truck several weeks back online to be picked up at my son's location. We received a call the afternoon before his moving date to tell us there was no truck available where we reserved and would have to drive 1.5 to 3 hours to get a truck in the morning. The move was to start early am so that wasn't going to work. We scrambled around and found a trailer at this location and they were very gracious. But the trailer was not big enough for the move so we had to make 2 3+hour round trips to get most everything moved. If availability is an issue, you gotta find a way to warn people earlier. It was very frustrating and since I know I might not get what I want for a vehicle will look at other options next time I reserve.

Overall equipment was fine. No one was present in the office when trying to pick up the truck. Waited about 10 minutes before I saw a staff member. Took 15 minutes to get someone to help with checking equipment back on upon return. There were very few customers noted on the premises at the time so it is unclear what was causing the delay.

Received a vehicle transportation trailer with preexisting damage. I was expected to document the damage so that i would not be responsible. Recommend repairing or previously documenting the damage on the contract, so the customer is not inadvertently charged or held liable for what was preexisting. Thank you!

I stood inside the store for 20mins with nobody insight to help me, I ended up calling while in the store to see if maybe I missed something and they were closed. There is a losing/unloading door out of order on both levels. I had to wait over an hour to start unloading my things since both unloading doors were being used along with every cart. It says climate control but was extremely hot. At 10pm the door to access the storage units locked and told me “access denied this area is closed” locking my daughter inside crying because she was scared I could not get back in. The upstairs level has ZERO room to safely back in a uhaul especially when cars/uhauls are lined up outside of the loading/unloading doors to unload- considering there are only 2 door with hundreds of storages that need accessed. Worst experience ever and worst uhaul location I have ever been to. Also the most expensive considering the closet size storage space. I will never use this location again or suggest this place to anyone

I hooked up the trailer in rainy weather and didn't notice until I was unloading that there was some preexistent damage to a fender. Thankfully, there was no attempt to charge me for someone else's accident. They were professional. It was a little confusing as to where to drop the trailer but that's because I didn't read the signs. After I started paying attention, it made perfect sense.

We delivered the truck and trailer around 3 pm on July 7,2022 as contracted for. We were told all was good. We left. At 4:18 pm I received a phone call asking when we were delivering the trailer? I explained it was delivered at the same as the truck. U-haul's employee said he would check outside. I was on the line approximately 10 minutes,When he returned he acknowledged it was there with the truck and he would check it in. Also when we returned the truck it had 7/8 filled gas tank.When we picked it up it was 1/2 filled. Now if it was the other way around we would have to pay $6.00 per gallon. U-Haul made about $50.00 plus off us. This is not right . Just to let you know I am going to bring this practice of U-Haul to the Michigan Attorney General attention.

Renting the truck/picking up was great. I was assisted by Edwen and he was very helpful, professional and explained everything to me thoroughly. However, when I returned the truck I was met with Skylar who was extremely rude, wouldn't answer any of my questions and tried to make feel bad when I told him there was a mistake with the gas reading when I left the place and that the guy that worked that day told me “it's ok, it's a little bit lower but just bring it the same way, I'll be here when you come back” but of course he wasn't there when I got back so when I told Skylar that, he basically laughed at me & said “ we'll, you should've checked the text msg they sent you” and walked off. Unbelievable, unprofessional and unacceptable.

Pickup truck windshield was so filthy it was dangerous to drive. I had to stop on my way home to clean the windshield. “Change oil” message was displayed on the instrument cluster at the beginning. We paid $300 more than the total shown on the website. Absolutely unacceptable and infuriating. Manager did not come out to address the situation.

We ordered our truck online yo pick up at 7am and online it said we had the truck for 6hrs max. Went to pick it up and we were told we only have 4hrs cuz they are booked and other people have it reserved at 11. That was not cool! We had to bust our butts hauling to get that truck back in time. Very disappointing. And them on top of that it ended up costing me over $109 plus $50 in gas! Not worth it in my opinion!

Outside doors wouldn't open automatically for vehicles to go in a couple of times during regular business hours. The directions for getting through the locked door when this happens are very unclear. Perhaps it should be posted: (as I learned): Swipe your card in the right terminal, then in the left terminal, to enter. There could be more of the rolling carts (non-mattress); when a couple of customers were moving at the same time, one had to carry things by hand instead of using the cart.

Unit was not accessible, door latch was jammed. Unable to unload my truck and was told the only person who can fix the door is at lunch and would have it fixed in the next hour. Came back two hours later and still no access. The clerk said everyone was busy and not able to fix the door, even though the general manager and three uniformed employees were out by the main entrance smoking the entire time. Makes absolutely NO sense, this was not a result of a lack of employees but a result of laziness. Wasted an entire day dealing with inept employees and obviously management, and still do not have a rental unit to unload my truck.

It may be helpful to have at least 2 people available at the desk. I waited over 15 minutes to ask a question while hearing 2 people talking and laughing just out of view. They can all hear the door ding when opened so they know there is more than one person in the store. Overall experience was what I needed at the right time. Thanks!

All staff have been so friendly and helpful. When I couldn't figure out how to get in with card, they took time to go with me and showed me how. Yesterday they helped me find an additional unit right across from original. When I went to switch stuff around, the staff cleaning units were friendly. It is not often that you get genuine customer service anymore. Thank you for providing.

Unit was locked when we arrived even after 4 phone calls and sending someone to obtain the unit. Arrived after hours unit locked. Called in the am assured by Drew it was now unlocked and available. Arrived 45 minutes later it was still locked! Talked to go she said people make mistakes i agree but Drew blatantly lied. She had me on hold 5 minutes while she went to see why their lock was still on it and then assured me it was unlocked! Don't trust her one bit.

Staff was not helpful at all. They initially gave us the wrong sized unit and would not even come to look at it. It took hours for us to even get into the right one. The staff also continuously took calls while they were helping us at the counter.

Liked U-Haul offers climate control and that the units are alarmed. Nice to see carts available to move items into you storage unit. There was plenty of room to back up a truck and trailer into loading area. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only issues I noticed was a truck parked in the loading area for a long period of time that was not actively moving items to and from a unit. I believe this to be a loading area and not a parking garage. The center overhead door was not working to loading area. The restroom facility I used had one toilet that would not flush and there was no soap in the dispenser. Those 3 minor things I mentioned did not affect my decision for my rating. Thanks.

The storage unit and check in were great. The uhaul truck experience on the other hand was a disaster, I’m very disappointed and had to spend more than I should have and more than what I was told.

Love the indoor units, security cameras and the alarm System that is installed with every unit it makes me feel better about my possessions at their facility and like the convenience of accessible dollies within the unit helps a lot

I wanted to see my storage room, and unload distance so the young lady sent me around the building to the second floor without a code to get in, so back to the counter. Then another young lady decided to help me, and took me thru the building and showed me my unit, not convenient. So she pick another one, sent me around the building to unload, and the doors was locked I couldn't get in. She said oh she forgot she would be there in a few minutes.After almost 2 hours there I just cancel my order and left.. No free month storage is worth being inconvenient this much
