It was inconvenient to need to talk to someone live on the phone to confirm/schedule. Utilizing a text message or email should also suffice. Since the calls are time sensitive for scheduling, it put my scheduled deliveries at risk when I was not immediately available to take the phone call. Everyone I spoke to was polite and expedient.

I have been renting from the Virginia Rd U-Haul since The 1980’s as things get more advanced with technology some things get very frustrating with the new changes I went to pay cash for my rental so it would not be put on my credit card but the employee said he can’t take care of my request as nobody is available at the register? @4 o’clock in the afternoon?? The radio not working was a first for me with renting from that location as well not really sure how far up the ladder these comments go but I must say all of the new procedures U-Haul has been using with the cell phones eliminating humans is going to eventually back fire in time. I tried the 24/7 truck share once and will never do it again as the keys that were in the locker were for a van and I booked a 26 foot truck! I had to wait for someone to open up and was late for a high end customer while I am at it send someone to the Virginia Rd location and look at the dust & dirt under the racks with the shrink wrap & tape ! A I is not going to clean that up !

We made a reservation for a storage unit, and the one they tried to give to us was almost half the size. The gentleman that helped us was polite, but his boss over him didn't seem to want to honor our original rental for the unit.Then, they assigned us another one, which was $30 more than our original rental. It had an extra foot in measurements, so I can understand. They did not honor the free month of rental with the one way truck rental, even though we were returning our truck to their store.

It was easy to return the truck, however, when I went to lower my vehicle from the U-Haul trailer, my car’s battery was dead. Asked for a jump start and the answer I got was that the manager said “no” because the company did not allow it. Had to wait for a tow truck to jump start the car. Whether it is company policy or not, that is not helpful at all.

I was sent 20miles to a location that didn’t have the trailer after I made the reservation on the phone giving my CC information, and they had no information of the reservation. I had to drive another 45 miles to get the truck dolly then back the 65 miles to the truck. Then drive 2 1/2 hours to bring it back. It was a 400$ trip for me. I want my money back

The Computerized system was completely not user friendly - it was cumbersome, confusing, not easy and I really missed being able to interact with a human and simple put my credit card in a machine. This automation and cumbersome nature of the procedure will definitely influence my choice to use U -Hual in the future. It may be better and cheaper for U-Haul to automate everything and hand it over to a computer, but its much worse for your customers' experience. I was given a price online for hitch install labor. When I went into this establishment in White Plains, I was told their labor is per hour. They told me that was explained online, it was not. They told me that was explained in the email contract, it was not. The only place I saw it shown was a sign in their office. By that time I was committed and could not back out. It ended up being a 100+ dollar difference from the original online price. U-Haul live chat was even less sympathetic. Live and learn.

The parking lot was flooded from a large amount of rain that fell during the evening. I had to walk through deep puddles to return the trailer.

The left taillight on the trailer I wanted to rent want working, and they couldn't fix it, so I took a larger trailer than I wanted. Then, when I returned the trailer after hours, the app told me that U had been charged the difference in trailers, which I do not plan to play. It's only $4 more, but that's not right.

To improve for the next customer, you should update your database so that it indicates this location no longer handles customers in person, but is only using the U-Haul app for self-service.
I specifically chose this location because I object to self-service on principle as the primary use of it is to eliminate jobs for workers while charging the customer the same price for less service. The website indicated that there would be personnel at the location to provide in-person service during regular business hours. My original contract stated that there would be personnel there to assist me. I was not notified until less than 24 hours before pick-up that I would have to do it by self-service using the app instead. The email simply said my contract had been unilaterally altered to be self-service, and as a result I should be prepared to provide multiple references and documents which had not been mentioned in the previous contract. While I do have a passport and a rental lease, they were in my home in Massachusetts at the time. The arrogance of altering a contract by downgrading the level of service and requiring unexpected documentation without consulting the customer was infuriating.
The single person present when I came to pick up the truck was a very polite young man who was kind enough to process my contract through the app on his own phone without asking for any of the supposedly required references or documents. However, since he was the only employee on site dealing with multiple customers, he was not allowed to leave the desk area to actually inspect the truck or provide any hands-on assistance with other rented items. This employee's courtesy is the only reason I did not rate this location as Poor.

The truck had the non operating left tail light and blinker. I was supposedly a new truck. Called road side assistance and there was no solution exposing me and my family at a gas station at midnight. At 3am I was offered a hotel room, the manager assisting my case offered a total reimbursement, this was not true.
I was offered a 50% discount, the terrible experience was worth much more than a 50% discount.
I asked for the case to be reopened and I haven’t been contacted yet. I am expecting a full reimbursement.
On top of it all, I got an additional bill almost $100 for additional mileage and gas, when this was all due to the situation presented by the bad maintenance of your own equipment.

Pick up the phone. I had a problem getting there on time. I was put on hold before I could even ask a quick question. Staff was not helpful with the app. I could not get the app to work for my rental. Wasted close to 40 minutes until a staff member decided to help because he heard me call UHaul corporate.

U-Haul automatically changed my pick up to automated/app-based which I didn’t want. Directions were not clear and the app froze so I still had to speak to someone. When I returned the van, a U-Haul employee said to just leave it and that nothing was needed on the app. Fortunately I checked the app anyway and found that there were several steps to returning the van. There was also nothing indicating that I had to refill the van so I was charged a ridiculous amount for a 1/4 tank of gas. The van itself was fine but having my reservation changed to app-based with poor directions on the app made this a very frustrating experience

Storing at Uhaul White Plains NY was a wonderful experience. The staff were very attentative, the facility and bathroom were well kept. Even renting a van was an easy experience. It was unfortunate that I grew out of my storage. I would recommend this location to anyone around the area.

I am giving them three stars just because I appreciate the efficiency of the U-Haul Renting system; however, my experience with customer service was less than satisfactory. Initially, when I rented a storage space at the North White Plains Storage Facility, the staff was friendly and helpful. About six months ago, I originally went to rent
a moving truck after I engaged in a conversation with a very polite employee, which convinced me to not only use their moving service but also rent a storage space without exploring other options. I valued the personal connection with an enthusiastic employee over considering alternative storage facilities.
However, my positive perception took a hit when, not even six months later, I received a call from a male employee claiming I hadn't made the payment for October, two days after the scheduled auto-charge. To my surprise, I was informed of a penalty for the payment delay. When I explained that I was on autopayment and unaware of any issues, the employee insisted that I had been removed from the autopayment plan. After insisting to tell me what card they have on the system he provided the last four digits of a card I never owned, despite being charged every month.
During this frustrating conversation, another employee, Miss Martinez, made the situation worse by using inappropriate language and adopting an aggressive tone. When I mentioned my busy schedule and the difficulty of managing numerous subscriptions, she retorted angrily, stating, "this is your bill, you are responsible for paying your bills." After a 30-minute argument, during which I asserted that they needed me more than I needed them, their tone suddenly shifted from rude and arrogant to soft and caring, offering to enroll me in autopayment again.
Post-call, I conducted some research and discovered a storage facility just one mile from my apartment, offering a cleaner environment with elevator access, all at half the price of the U-Haul location. My advice to U-Haul is to invest in good employees, as the quality of customer service greatly influences customer satisfaction.

My only complaint is that when I reserved the storage unit on line via the app it indicated that I had one month free as I previously rented a trailer and am currently renting a truck. When I checked in at White Plains they indicated I was not eligible for 1 month free and my reservation was removed from the app so I was not able to show them that the app indicated that I was eligible. Needless to say this is very confusing.

All answers to questions 1-6 are qualified by the word "sufficiently," as in "Were the storage facility’s access hours sufficiently convenient?" The access hours could be better if open later, or if the privilege for 24-hour access was not an additional upcharge. I've had this room since the mid 2000s. It was necessary when I lived in Manhattan, useful when I lived in North White Plains, but it's become redundant since moving to a home in Putnam County. We will likely close our second room in my wife's name.

I made a reservation for my unit because of a promotion I saw while checking out with my moving truck. It said that I could get a month of storage free with my rental so I agreed. The rate I was quoted was around $160. When the day came and I showed up at the unit, they said they don't participate in those promotions and refused to honor the price on my email confirmation. They said they'd been sold out of unit but of course then happened to have a last minute opening they could give me...at almost double the price. I had a full truck after a very long drive and so I took it. Extremely poor experience overpaying for a unit Uhaul would not honor.

I cannot say enough & It is even hard for me to articulate into words my deepest Gratitude for this Location & everyone there... But Especially the General Manager Anny Martinez. Anny truly went above and beyond not only Exceeding my Expectations but she went above and beyond treating me with so much compassion, help, guidance, & overall she is truly beyond an Asset for this Location & for Uhual as a Company. She is truly a special General Manager but more than everything, She is a Special person on the inside & made my experience truly perfect. The unit was unsafe for placing items. I told them at the front desk to cancel. They did but never refunded the $108.10 taken from my account . I called 3x and was told I would get a call back so far nothing!!! Never using a company that robs people again

With the new unit, I found some garbage on the floor and it is against the wall of the building and paint was chipping.
I still went with unit because it is a little more space for me to go through/organize my stuff & I don't have to climb (It's ground level).... :"t's complicated" at home.
My only comment about the facility itself was I wish it had more climate control. There is another self-storage location about a 7 min walk from this U-Haul but I had a bad experience with them before they changed hands. Part of the bad experience may still have a unit there so I am not comfortable using them which Is why I'm using this U-Haul location.

The facility was always dirt and things on the floor. The customer service is non existent. And I moved out almost a month ago and the guy never closed out my unit and today I receive this after a phone call earlier. The move out date is wrong.
