DALEXANDREIAA W**1 Star — Misinformed About Truck Size, Then Charged My Card After Agreeing to Wait** I am furious with this experience and I want to be very clear about what happened here. I came in to rent a truck to move two 18-foot tables along with several other items. I told the staff exactly what I was moving. They recommended a 20-foot or 26-foot truck. I specifically asked — point blank — whether the 20-foot measurement was the INSIDE dimension of the truck. I made it crystal clear that my tables were 18 feet long and I needed them to fit flat on the floor with the door closed. They told me yes, it would fit. It did not fit. When I got to my loading location, the 18-foot tables would not fit on the floor of the truck with the door shut. I'm guessing U-Haul counts the granny attic above the cab in their "20-foot" measurement — but that doesn't matter. I didn't ask "is the truck 20 feet?" I described my specific situation, told them the exact length of my table, asked if it would fit, and was told yes. Whether that was a deliberate lie or just staff who didn't know their own product, the impact on me was enormous. I had to prop the tables at an angle with the legs on the floor and the ends sticking past where the door could shut. I managed to secure them, but because of that angle, I could not fit a single other item in the truck. My entire plan — stacking two tables upside down on top of each other and loading items underneath and between the legs — was destroyed. I lost the ability to move everything else I needed to move that day. Because it took so long to rig the tables safely in a truck that was too small, I ran out of time and could not make a second trip. The financial and logistical damage was real. When I brought the truck back, I wasn't even asking for a refund. I simply said I shouldn't have to pay for the fuel I burned on a trip that only went sideways because your staff gave me wrong information about the truck. The employee acknowledged the problem but said his manager would have to handle it and wouldn't be back until Tuesday. He told me he'd put my account on hold until I could speak with the manager. I said fine. Then — after I left — they went ahead and charged my card anyway. The full rental fee PLUS an additional fuel surcharge. No call. No conversation with the manager. No honoring the agreement we made in person. The truck size issue may have been an honest mistake, but charging my card after telling me to my face that it would be put on hold until I spoke with the manager? That is deceptive, unethical, and unacceptable. You do not tell a customer one thing and then do the opposite the moment they leave. I will never rent from this location again and will question using uhaul again.

Fuck those other people give them alternate equipment I’ve spent almost $2k with U-Haul in the last week. I’ll take my business elsewhere just due to the level of unprofessionalism I’ll go to Menards or Home Depot they don’t call you 5 times in a row while you’re sleeping about a vehicle I’m paying for.
Trent WMy wife and I are moving into a new house over a couple of months, and this is the fourth truck we have rented. By far, the staff at this location was the best of the three locations we have used. They were very friendly, pulled the truck around and parked it in the end, and they answered any questions or concerns that I had. If they weren't located on the other side of town, I would use them every time to rent moving vans. They were great!

Phyllis DHonor what was told, I was told that I could rent at one location (Main St) and drop off at a participating uhaul which I did. Then received a call stating I was gonna get charged $200 for doing so. I reserved the truck stating that I was going to be dropping the truck off at a different location online. Wasn't informed that I had to return the truck back to same location when I picked the truck up.I was informed when I got a call at 7am in the morning stating that that kind of drop off for trucks were for out of town drop offs (wasn't disclosed).Truck was dirty and damn near empty. All around horrible experience.

Carlos DCheck every part of vehicle, under hood, tires, etc. Make sure each vehicle is clean prior to giving keys to customers. Have a better an in place when problems arise with any vehicle. Exemplify Total Quality Customer Service. Assure Customers that when problems do arise, that you will do all you can to rectify problem and make each customer feel as though they are the only customer you have. Instead of making them feel as if they are the problem and it's their fault that they are in the situation they're in.
Tanqueray JThey don’t respect customer because I am first to serve they ignore it and behind me to serve next customer, I am very disappointed this uhaul company, especially this location at 3500 east main st Columbus oh 43213 , and I am returning early, days and late returned 4 hours late , but they charged me 1 full day , , not make customer satisfied and happy , please be professional for uhaul company service,

Marsha EIt rained the whole trip to ny and I noticed some water got in the back of the truck from the ceiling but I was able to catch it. On the other hand, the truck was definitely not an economical gas saver! Anytime I needed to go over 50mph it was sucking the gas up. And the crazy part is, most of my trip was 70mph road.. so those need to be removed from trucks going long distance. Locally, yes it'll work but nothing else.

Sary ASome of your personnel needs to work on customer service…The first person that helped with the reservation did everything wrong and we ended up having to go back in to fix it. If my wife hadn’t check the receipt we would have left Columbus without fixing it. The girl that helped us the second time and set thigs straight was incredibly helpful.
Juan AWhen we arrived to pick up our truck they did not have it. We were told to go to another location to pick one up. This delayed me from meeting my movers on time and added more expenses!! Being a senior citizen on a budget this really screwed things up.
Joanne GLocation opened late. I arrived a few minutes after 9:00a for a 9:00a reservation. Had to wait outside for sometime. Once in, clerk had to yell at other 2 employees to get them to come help with line that formed. Once being helped, clerks continued to joke around resulting in it taking even longer to check out.

Wendy PI drove, what had to have been, a truck that was end of life. It smelled of oil, drew itself out in high RPMs, was very rough to ride in, and had misaligned steering. Worst truck I've ever rented.

Thomas oI was not informed by Josh that I was given 2 storage units , when I went back in and spoke to the two other employees Jerimah with the glasses and asst manager Cory they were confused as well but they were very helpful. Cory attempted to reach out to Josh but was not successful. Cory let me know that the S Hamilton location had the size I needed and tried to call them for me but was unable to get through. Cory assured me he would be able to reverse the charge for the storage unit and did the reversal for me.
CIARA RAt the Hamilton office, the young man did not assist me because my English is not very good. His employees need to understand that we are all customers and that they must provide us with service; for this reason, I had to go to another office, where the young man assisted me very well.

LOUIS HArrived after 4pm with a bit of a line just before close. Both staff members didn’t let that phase them. They had positive and welcoming attitudes when I got to the counter.

We rented a truck on 11/01 (Ronald Coconougher), my husband cleared it out on 11/01 and took the lock. The unit has been cleared and someone needs to do a better job at making sure once a customer settled out an account, the unit is cleared in the three days as required.

Angela H | Overall ExperienceThe morning staff at the location where my unit was was absolutely fine however the evening staff live a lot to be desired often times if I went in in the evening your employees would smell like marijuana sometimes the facility itself smelled like someone has smoked marijuana in there and your customer service line leaves a lot to be desired I have never missed a payment while we spent on time I had an issue last month with making my payment and your customer service team harassed me all the way up until the 15th even slightly past the 15th when I paid the bill so now I would never recommend anyone go to your facility which is why I decided to just empty out my storage unit because how dare you treat me as if I'm irresponsible wanting something for nothing and harass me and my daughter until I paid the bill so now that $ $97 and some change that you was getting every month you will no longer get it from me so thank you for motivating me to save my money

We were called the next morning after we had left the truck , and told that the staff told us wrong information, the keys should have been lest in key slot. So we brought key back as asked , so this is the only concern, If we had been home out of state and not been able to get back , this could have been a problem. I ended up losing my job and falling behind on payments got an email about my missed payment, manager stated I could make a partial payment. I didn’t receive any more emails about my storage unit until they sent one saying that it was final notice it’s been sold and I owe $53.00. A few days later I recieved another email stating I owe $235.00. I called they stated buyer didn’t take everything I can come get what was left. It seems to me like management stole my s***.

Now looking into getting reimbursed because luckily I shop Amazon and have proof of items missing. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all

Tried using the restroom in the building my unit was in and it was out of hand soap and nearly out of toilet paper. It started pouring down rain as soon as I finished emptying my storage unit and when I got out of my truck to go check out and close my account, the automatic sliding door to the office was locked and therefore I got soaked. I had to get back in my truck before an employee could be bothered to unlock the door and then looked upset she had to get up from wherever she was to unlock it. Was just a frustrating experience overall.

Upon arriving to the facility she was in the back garage area very loud & professional on a personal cell phone. After the fact that we were already processed through with my Electronic Arizona Drivers License by another employee she stated “ No, he wasn’t allowed to do so while the whole time being rude & condescending! I’ve been repetitive customer using my Electronic I.D! I left after the unprofessional confrontation to get my helpers to clear out my storage because I was closing it out. Upon returning to the U-Haul location Main St. & Barnett Columbus, OH my storage was double locked out! I just paid in full to close out any remaining balances! But yet 30 minutes later after the I have a “lock-out lock” on my unit! Ms Pink hair lacks compassion & professionalism to be empathetic towards U-Haul customers. The act of moving is already a stressful event! I will not be doing business at that particular locale again!

Everyone I encountered from the beginning of my rental to my move out was, courteous teous, professional and helpful. Especially the gentleman that was on duty when I ended my storage rental on 4/28/2023 p.m.. He was on running the place all by himself ! I witnessed him get absolutely slammed with people and more people bringing trucks back. ( at the same time) As well as dealing with customers for other reasons. I saw several trucks getting returned almost within minutes of each other People coming to rent or storage issues as well as my moving out. It was non-stop. His professionalism was nothing but above and beyond. No attitude, no frowning. He kept a smile he was so over whelmed like anyone would be but he was accommodating everyone with grace and respect. His name was Lee Canlock Jr. ( i hope i spelled it correctly) Thank you Lee for all of your assistance.

Leslie P | Overall ExperienceI called the U-haul 800 number to reserve a unit at a facility that had a 1st floor unit available. I had to go to a location further away but was assured by the representative that a 1st floor unit had been reserved for me at this location. When i showed up at the facility I was told that I was being given a 2nd floor unit. I explained that I had spoken with a rep through the Uhaul 800 number and had been assured I was reserving a 1st floor unit. The owner basically told me I was out of luck and she had no 1st floor units available. I was utilizing a 1 month free offer based on a 1 way truck rental so i believe this lady (I did not get her name but her shirt said "owner") didn't want to give me a 1st floor unit since i was only using it for a month. On top of that, she was rude. I have 3 kids in college at Ohio State and have been, will be for the next several years, will need to rent trucks and storage facilities in Columbus to move them in and out of apartments and store their furniture in the summer months. Last year we used Casino storage on Broad Street. I will be going back to Casino in the future.

I called and let them know I would be there 3 mins before the inside closed the lady said ok.. I get the when I said the doors where locked she refused to help me and told me to do it online which she could have told me on the phone instead of me standing in the parking lot trying to figure it out.. if I hadn’t been in an emergency situation and needed something at that moment I would have went to another company.

stephen b | Overall ExperienceIn the beginning I had a good experience with the uhaul staff. I caught Corona virus back in late March. I was so sick I had forgotten to pay the storage fee for April. I was feeling better and able to talk so I called to let the staff know what was going on around mid April and I paid the same day. Also this is my first missed payment. I haven't been to the storage unit since I've put my Things in there. I paid for the month of May on time. On May 29th I come to retrieve my things from storage, because I didn't need the unit anymore and my key doesn't Fit The Lock. I tell the staff no one knows why and says they can't help me. I had to pay $100 for a lock Smith to remove the lock. Im not stupid I know One of uhaul staff members changed my lock because of my late payment in April and they never changed my lock back. The Manager said he doesn't have any notes or keys for my unit. I know They didn't have any more red tags so they used a different lock to keep me out. There's no way my key shouldn't have worked. I understand being locked out for non payment but when I paid, it should've been fixed or uhaul staff should've took the lock off instead of me having to pay a lock Smith for a problem I didn't create. The manager wasn't helpful at all.

The original unit was too small, and staff was very accommodating with changing to a different unit. In addition, we did not lock the unit properly and the company notified me to assure my items are safe. Highly recommend.

We ran in to an issue with them not having a utility dolly for us to use but we had been charged for one, and did not try to help us in any way to find a solution. All they did was laugh in our face and told us to figure it out. I was really disappointed and upset that I reached out to uhaul customer service while in store and they worked to help us find a dolly nearby at another location and we were able to complete our move out. Horrible experience for us. The overall move out we were able to complete but the staff that was there initially when we arrived was a 0 for sure.

The outside units are till 10pm. Wish they could be till midnight. Also everything I opened the door the alarm would go off. I hope I’m not setting it off. I use the key card to sign in and out.
