Place is a joke we were picking up a small 19.99 truck with a utility dolly we get to our location and there is no dolly had to drive back to get a dolly that they set on the sidewalk for us to grab. On top of that I asked if they can place it in my truck and they looked at me like I was crazy I have four broken ribs and cant lift anything heavy but I managed. On top of all that I had to park on the other side of the parking lot because your employees took amthe 4 spots you have in the front. Now if this is customer service that you provide within your company I will never use you again. Horrible experience and customer service.

If I ever need Uhaul vans, trucks or storage, I will definitely return to this location. The reservation was fast and simple. The van was ready as scheduled and there were no delays with the check-in. The lady who helped me was professional and knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. I really liked that she was kind and friendly which is a refreshing change to the typical customer service (or lack of) which we get in our world today. We were told we'd be reimbursed for the straps. Returned to the facility and stated if it wasn't used we could get a reimbursement. However, that is not a logical response because we needed the straps to transport the vehicle. Charged for gas although we returned the fuel as it was upon retrieval of the vehicle.

Biggest issue was being mislead about rental rate policy: Because I picked up a 10' truck for a two day rental on a Saturday I was told that the mileage rate would be $1.29 per mile on Saturday, then $1.09 per mile for Sunday and Monday. (I recorded the actual miles used per day). When I returned the unit I was informed that whatever the rate was on the pickup date was the rate that would be applied to ALL mileage. I asked if I had picked up the truck on Saturday, returned it that night, then picked it up again on Sunday morning would the rate have been different? The young lady working the desk said, "yeah, you should try that next time". then walked away. Not happy with the policy or the service.

Dolly was not in the truck - would have been nice if they had given notice that equipment was not available rather than me discovering when picking up truck after hours. Truck was filthy inside cab and reeked of marijuana. Transmission shot - caused fuel economy to be 3 or 4 miles per gallon.

The GPS takes you to a lower level where numerous U-Haul trucks are parked. It's confusing to know that the actual return place is around the corner. There's a sign that says "key drop off" but there is no drop off. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.

There was a few pieces of trash in the trailer. The fuel hand was not in the position that was on the uhaul doc. I was new at this. I noticed it but didn't quite understand until it was time to return the vehicle. I thought it was due to the way the truck was sitting. The doc stated one quarter tank full, it was actually 1/8 of a tank. I had pictures to prove it was 1/8 of a tank and the receiver still ignored me. Now my perception of Uhaul is tainted. I will do everything in my power not to ever rent a Uhaul truck again, even if i have to pay more. IMPROVE! Simple make the gas meter match the paperwork.

I had reserved an appliance hand truck, but they did not have it. I had reserved blankets but was told they did not have any. The employee gave me the use of a small hand truck and a pack of blankets (6) from the sales floor. The small hand truck was useless and I needed more blankets, the ones I had reserved. The truck needs to be retired. Had trouble with the brakes and the gear shifter.

I rent trucks 5-6 times a year. This U-Haul location always has the equipment I need, they're always very nice and pleasant to work with, and the location is great for access to town and the highway. This is my preferred U-Haul location.

Not only did they not have the reserved dollies, they made it clear that they consistently don’t have them. Renting a 20 ft truck for a move means that a dolly is critical for completing the purpose I rented for. We lost an hour locating a dolly to rent or borrow. The truck was dirty. Inside the open back of the truck smelled of cigarette smoke. Additionally, it became clear that it had not been cleaned recently. Every item put in to the truck came out dirty. I don’t expect it to be immaculate but I do expect to be able to use the couch even after it has ridden in the U-Haul. Check out and check in were easy and well done.

The employee didnt seem like he knew what he was doing and when he finally did get my reservation pulled up and put through he tried to charge me 80 dollars more than what I was quoted and showed to have to pay when I made the reservation in the app. Then he tried to tell me that the app didnt actually show my total but my pre tax subtotal. I had to physically pull ky reservation up on the app and show then that it did indeed include taxes in order for them to correct the issue and charge me what I was originally quoted. Very unprofessional behavior for the employee as well since he basically called me a liar and said that everyone who comes in there trys to say the same thing and are always wrong.

The truck's air conditioning was not working. It blew air and it never got cold. We thought it just had to cool off at first but it never did. I also wish that when I made the reservation over the phone someone would have of told me that there weren't any 20 foot trucks available because I would have preferred a 15 ft to the 26ft. As we had a hard time parking it on our street. The workers at the location were very helpful and understanding. Just had a truck I didn't like.

Starting off with Friday, pick-up, it took almost 1 hour to actually get into the vehicle because nobody could figure out the code for the word lock. It was absolutely ridiculous. I requested a dolly for my pick up unfortunately I didn’t Get one. I had to call U-Haul about 13 times just to receive any information! Apparently my rental truck was only the beginning of my problems. I get to the storage place. There was nowhere to pull up and unload because 5 trucks were blocking the loading dock. And no! It wasn’t after hours! So I park on the side just to see what the actual storage looks like and to my surprise there no elevator to get my 2 bedroom furniture to my little locker! Haha so here’s another phone call. 45 minutes later I’m getting another unit that’s 26 minutes away. By the time I get there you can’t get onto the lot so we have to wait til morning. My 1 1/2 day move turned into 3 and so many phone calls later. I’ve lost all faith in using U-Haul. I don’t plan to use in the future. I’m greatly disappointed because I’ve never had any issues like this before.

Was left to call other storage facilities that was closed bc this U-Haul before hand said all our things would fit into the free storage ther offer for Buisness well that wasn’t truthful,we drove from Tennessee to Fayetteville to pick up our cars then to Winston to find out that space was old and small Also it was time for closing one of the workers told the manager about our situation and all our things wouldn’t go in there as they was told well they left us there never came back out to get the truck keys they closed and left , and we had to pay over 100 dollars for a storage ,horrible way to treat any individuals

Also we noticed a dead mouse as you entered the storage facility in the hallway prior to getting to the unit that we rented. The layout of the facility is straight up DANGEROUS. The units are double stacked and the parking is on the street or non existent. Also, some lady was literally screaming and attacking people outside. She was parked in the handicapped spot and chased me. The staff witnessed her do this to several people and just did nothing. Completely incapable of handling the situation.

We had a unit with Uhual for about 2 years. We lived in an apartment during that time and rarely visited the unit. The time before we moved out, there was another lock added by the front office which we were not notified about and when we went to go into our unit they couldn’t find the key or break the lock off so we had to buy the tools and do it ourselves. When we finally moved out there was mold all over the wall and got onto some of our belongings. Highly disappointed the facility seemed clean and we should have been notified of any changes.

Rented a truck to move heavy furniture expecting to have accessible storage. We asked to see the space when we picked up the truck but we're not allowed until we returned to unload. We were never told until that time that the storage room was 8 feet above floor level accessible only by heavy metal, steep, rolling, stairs making it impossible to carry up heavy large furniture. No other storage was available and we had to make emergency arrangements to store large heavy pieces.

All furniture was ruined with mold in only a few months. I had to pay U haul to ruin my stuff. I got a depreciated value for my items but not refunded for the time it was in there getting ruined I feel U haul owes me 190.00 for the 2 months rent. Ihad to pay someone to get all personal items out and took me weeks to clean it all. The people were really sweet but said they could not defund my money only the insurance company could do that and the insurance company said no they can’t reimburse for anything uhaul billed. This was a nightmare

After our move from Denver and a long exhausting 30 hour road trip broke up into 2 days , the 2 young ladies in Winston-Salem on Marshall st. We’re AWESOME!!! Couldn’t have ask for more accommodating and friendly service . They were great in assisting us and made us feel like there were no worries and that they would take care of us , and they did ! They both should be commended!!!

The building is deplorable. Mouse traps in the storage unit the size of shoe box. There is animal vomit inside, on top of the one unit that you can see when you are going up the stairs. There is more.

The U-Haul facility on Marshall Street in downtown Winston-Salem is deplorable it is very unsatisfactory.. there is a leak in the roof which made the hallway to my unit flooded on the floor.

While the facility appeared safe & secure, it was NOT. My son's unit was broken into and TV stolen and items vandalized. All this with no signs of break-in. Totally inside job.

We chose an upstairs unit which got very hot and sometimes difficult for our college student to move boxes back and forth. Choose a downstairs unit if available. Had some rat droppings in the unit.
