I had to get a tow dolly that did not work with my car. The High Point U-HAUL office located an auto hauler in Burlington where I exchanged the tow dolly.

The truck was not clean, i was not able to receive an itemized receipt but online I selected a dolly & half dozen furniture pads. I was told it wasn't on there plus they didn't have a dolly. The "front tire is low on air" light was on upon getting in the vehicle; when I asked, I was told it was the sensor; unnerving.
Then...the "engine oil is low" message light came on and off. Again, unnerving.
UHaul provides a great service and the people there were very friendly. I just get the sense there are lots of deferred maintenance
issues throughout the fleet that need to be taken care of.

The van was dirty and had a strong cigarette smell. There was also residue on the steering wheel probably from cigarette smoking. When I entered that the equipment needed cleaning, the app tried to charge me a cleaning fee.. hopefully they take that off. This is not a location specific problem but the app is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used and consistently has issues.

The truck was in disrepair and the roof had literally been ripped. I was moving in a sunny day but if it was raining all of the things would have been wet. The engine raced and idled so poorly I know it had awful gas mileage. And the back latch was so hard to operate. Time to replace that one!

First time renting a U-Haul in many years. Not what I expected. As I was paying, I received a text message. I asked the gentleman behind the counter about this message. He told me no worries. It’s all taken care of. He gives me a key tells me the truck is in the lot. I had to go find my own truck while walking and looking for the truck there was a dip in the pavement. I fell bruised my knee. He never came to assist me. Inside there are many closed circuit TVs so I assume he saw me fall.I found the truck I had to get in on the passenger side and scoot to the drivers because it was too close to the truck beside it. I decided to open this text message to discover I did have to take my own picture’s that I was told previously they would take care of that so with a hurt knee I pull the truck out. I take the required pictures. The check engine light was on. The truck was extremely loud in the back as if something was loose and a very rough bumpy ride. The mirror on the passenger side did not adjust at all. The driver side only moved a little which made driving this truck extremely dangerous.
There was no signage that said anything about uneven pavement. There should’ve been signs to warn people, considering they are expected to walk through the parking lot and find there own truck.

Since this was a self serve return, there was no one there to guide me through the process. I did not have the U-Hall App. I was able to get on the phone with the 1-800 Support person who sent me a link to take the pictures and complete the return process. Its a big help to be able to drop off the trailer so that we don't have to pull an empty trailer 150 miles back to Greenville. - I now have the App and would use it in the future.

Starting off with Friday, pick-up, it took almost 1 hour to actually get into the vehicle because nobody could figure out the code for the word lock. It was absolutely ridiculous. I requested a dolly for my pick up unfortunately I didn’t Get one. I had to call U-Haul about 13 times just to receive any information! Apparently my rental truck was only the beginning of my problems. I get to the storage place. There was nowhere to pull up and unload because 5 trucks were blocking the loading dock. And no! It wasn’t after hours! So I park on the side just to see what the actual storage looks like and to my surprise there no elevator to get my 2 bedroom furniture to my little locker! Haha so here’s another phone call. 45 minutes later I’m getting another unit that’s 26 minutes away. By the time I get there you can’t get onto the lot so we have to wait til morning. My 1 1/2 day move turned into 3 and so many phone calls later. I’ve lost all faith in using U-Haul. I don’t plan to use in the future. I’m greatly disappointed because I’ve never had any issues like this before.

Was left to call other storage facilities that was closed bc this U-Haul before hand said all our things would fit into the free storage ther offer for Buisness well that wasn’t truthful,we drove from Tennessee to Fayetteville to pick up our cars then to Winston to find out that space was old and small Also it was time for closing one of the workers told the manager about our situation and all our things wouldn’t go in there as they was told well they left us there never came back out to get the truck keys they closed and left , and we had to pay over 100 dollars for a storage ,horrible way to treat any individuals

The access code did not work. We were informed that their system had been going on and offline which was the reason our access code that we had them program did not work. Also we noticed a dead mouse as you entered the storage facility in the hallway prior to getting to the unit that we rented. The layout of the facility is straight up DANGEROUS. The units are double stacked and the parking is on the street or non existent. Also, some lady was literally screaming and attacking people outside. She was parked in the handicapped spot and chased me. The staff witnessed her do this to several people and just did nothing. Completely incapable of handling the situation.

We had a unit with Uhual for about 2 years. We lived in an apartment during that time and rarely visited the unit. The time before we moved out, there was another lock added by the front office which we were not notified about and when we went to go into our unit they couldn’t find the key or break the lock off so we had to buy the tools and do it ourselves. When we finally moved out there was mold all over the wall and got onto some of our belongings. Highly disappointed the facility seemed clean and we should have been notified of any changes.

Rented a truck to move heavy furniture expecting to have accessible storage. We asked to see the space when we picked up the truck but we're not allowed until we returned to unload. We were never told until that time that the storage room was 8 feet above floor level accessible only by heavy metal, steep, rolling, stairs making it impossible to carry up heavy large furniture. No other storage was available and we had to make emergency arrangements to store large heavy pieces.

All furniture was ruined with mold in only a few months. I had to pay U haul to ruin my stuff. I got a depreciated value for my items but not refunded for the time it was in there getting ruined I feel U haul owes me 190.00 for the 2 months rent. Ihad to pay someone to get all personal items out and took me weeks to clean it all. The people were really sweet but said they could not defund my money only the insurance company could do that and the insurance company said no they can’t reimburse for anything uhaul billed. This was a nightmare

After our move from Denver and a long exhausting 30 hour road trip broke up into 2 days , the 2 young ladies in Winston-Salem on Marshall st. We’re AWESOME!!! Couldn’t have ask for more accommodating and friendly service . They were great in assisting us and made us feel like there were no worries and that they would take care of us , and they did ! They both should be commended!!!

The U-Haul facility on Marshall Street in downtown Winston-Salem is deplorable it is very unsatisfactory.. there is a leak in the roof which made the hallway to my unit flooded on the floor.

We chose an upstairs unit which got very hot and sometimes difficult for our college student to move boxes back and forth. Choose a downstairs unit if available. Had some rat droppings in the unit.
