UHaul of Hayward located at 529 Jackson Street, Hayward, CA 94544 needs to drastically improve their customer focus and experience, especially using the Haul contactless mobile application and process. We waited more than 45 mins. for UHaul key at this location even after mobile check-in process. Also their fuel charge is misleading when using UHaul mobile app to take a picture of the fuel usage during pick-up. Our uploaded photo showed 1/4 fuel given during pick-up time; but they charge us anyways for 6 gallons at their premium fuel rate after we filled and returned the UHaul vehicle's fuel between 1/4 an 3/8 fuel gauge?! I would not recommend any of my friends and/or family members to this UHaul facility. Just pick another location and get better customer services!

Customer service was awful. I reserved and paid in advance. When I arrived to pick up my truck the dude working there asked for my name then pulled another person's info, did not confirm, did not ask for reservation #, told me I had the truck for 2 hours, no 24, I argued. He called manager over who did confirm name and res #. Releived I proceeded to reserve when they wouldn't accept my online bank card. I had to give the dude a major credit card. Fine but a waste of time. When I returned the truck signs pointed very vaguely to return area. I was told to bring truck to correct area. 2 trucks were being returned in front of me inspite of dude telling me they weren't open yet. Overall terrible experience, glad its over.

I wanted to rent a trailer from my local U-Haul, and thought I had, but had to collect from 12 miles away instead. Nothing against the location, but it was a pain for me to get to and from (35 minute journey instead of 5) which cut down my use of the trailer considerably. Website needs to be better so that people can see what equipment is actually available to rent at each location.

Need more clerks... takes to long with only 1 person in front counter, and when you bring the truck back, they just take the keys and send you away without checking the truck, gas, mileage etc.... then you receive the ebill with extras....

Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the person who helped us both coming and going. He is hands-down the best customer service individual we have ever dealt with. Give him a raise. You need to keep him!

Poor communication, absurdly high prices. I clearly stated on online check in that I was dropping off in Santa Rosa, but did not learn until the morning of that I had to return the uhaul to Hayward. The workers there didn't seem all that concerned that I was frustrated about lack of communication, or that last minute, uhaul sent my reservation 15 further miles from the original pickup location, all 30 extra travel miles I was billed for. One day total came out to 350 dollars and I cannot justify ever doing that again. I'll just find somebody with a truck.

Only gave a poor rating because system was down and we waited for hours to get hooked up to trailer. But staff tried hard and allowed a grace period for return. Staff upon return was very helpful and nice. I wish things moved more smoothly and fast but it was a busy Friday and the system was down for over an hour so I will try again next time. Thanks

The inside of the van had some debris in it, clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. They did not have any dollies or furniture pads, which I had paid for online. The staff person I spoke to was quite rude about it.

I drove 30 miles and replenished fuel tank with 2 gallons, but I was still charged $10 for fuel. A better system for customer might be to provide the truck with a full tank. Thank you.

Well stocked on different sizes of trucks.Packing supplies are best I've seen of any Uhaul store.But the best part is Jusus,,store manager and his well train crew offering excellent customer service.All this combined made our moving pleasant.

1/2 hr me and my spouse requested one customer service and they could not listen to do that I just requested them to swap the vehicle from 15ft to 10 ft but they told its not possible both the guys of this uhaul hayward loacation were not listening any customer requests.

The truck sounded like it could use some attention in regards to the mechanical aspect. I feel like it guzzled a whole lot more gas than if it was in better mechanical condition, specifically in the mpg.

We was waiting for over 15 mins on line and one of the workers came in the door without a mask. I guess he left his mask on the table went outside and came back in without wearing one. One of the things your company can improve is to make sure that the third party movers are trained and professional. Able moving owner Bruce Tyson is very rude and unprofessional. He canceled on me last time after I informed him he was late. When I booked my truck with your company, the representative informed me about mover helpers, and I had the worst one ever.

The truck was not clean at all. It was very dirty and not sanitized. We had to clean in before using. This is pandemic, you guys need to be more serious on cleaning and sanitizing the vehicles. The vehicle i used was very out dated/old.

Next time it would be nice to ensure a dolly is available or call the day before to let the customer know. This way we will be prepared. Thank you for your nice customer service. We appreciate the since our 20' truck didn't come in you upgraded us to the 26' at no additional charge.

When I went to pick up the truck I had on reserve, they didn't have anything that I asked for, no furniture cover or utility dolly. I was sent to another location to pick up the dolly I needed, I was told they would have one, and they would subtract 10 miles off my mileage. When I arrived at the warehouse, I was told she didn't have any. When I called the Uhaul store I received the truck from on Jackson Street, the man that answered the phone wasn't too friendly. The cleansing of the truck wasn't that well. There was something sticky in the cup holder.

I wished I could have given five stars. I deducted two stars because the service at the location below was not so great. There was a discrepancy with my order so I had to call the customer service center who helped correct the issue. Made reservations for a dolly and items to help me carry heavy items and at the counter they told me they ran out, that is the purpose of a reservation! To make sure your items are reserved for you, totally unacceptable, and all they say is “I'm sorry, I can check if they have them in another location” is that a reasonable solution? Terrible work practice.
