I had left my Illinois tollway transponder on the dash right by the steering wheel when I turned in my truck. If a staffperson at the location had even LOOKED inside the cab, they would have seen the transponder and removed it. Instead, the next renter took off with the transponder and racked up almost $100 on my transponder before I found out about it and reported it as stolen, and now I have to pay various toll authorities that much money. I contacted UHaul, but of course you said, "Hey, sorry; not our problem." The incident really soured me on UHaul, about whom I had previously had a positive impression. NOT a good experience.Micah M.

Very frustrated with U-Haul. I picked up the trailer on Sunday morning. I confirmed with the associate who was helping me that they closed at 5:00, but I was free to turn the trailer in after hours. We were helping my son move in town, so I took my time and returned the trailer after hours - thinking I'm returning the same day. Now I have to pay for two days. I think this should have been explained to me - it has not worked this way in the past. You gained an extra day of rental, but you lost a customer!Kurt B.

The staff were all great. I felt bad for them as someone had broken into the location early in the morning and they were trying to clean up the glass and take care of the customers. Getting in and out of that location is a nightmare. The trucks were clean but not taken care of very well.Emily L.

Even though I reserved my U-Haul more than three weeks ahead of time, I was not able to pick up from my preferred location. Also, on the day of pick up four hours prior to picking up our location was changed again. I miss the communication because I was preparing to move and so my husband had to drive all over the cities trying to find the right location. Also, when he got there he had to move the neighbors trash bins out of the way to get the truck out of the parking lot.Timothy M.

I signed up for 6:30AM virtual pickup. Fortunately, I did not arrive until after 7AM when staff were present to help move other vehicles so that I could take the truck. Virtual pickup would have been impossible. The truck ran fine, but the inside of the cargo area was dirty (could have been swept out).Eric B.

I will never resent another uhaul. This was extremely unorganized, I couldn't even access my reservation online at all. To call to ask anything took an hour of hold time. I called to change my reservation location and my drop off location was just removed so 3 different uhaul places refused to accept my truck. This was absolutely ridiculous. I reserved a truck and then the day before was called and told that they didn't have my truck anywhere near me. Worst company to have moving trucks from.worst communication. The online process could be easier and faster if when you click the â€œReady for Pick upâ€ section was done a little ahead of time since there are things you need to fill out before you're given the Uhaul truck. Also, taking out the truck was a little difficult, being that all trucks are parked very close together. Lastly, the staff could be little more friendlier. Thank you.Alexis V.

I returned the vehicle after driving a total of 9 miles, as recorded on my receipt. I was charged for 3 gallons of gas upon return and have a VERY hard time believing the van gets 3 miles per gallon. Even 6 would be comically low, come on. I didn't even think the gas gauge moved noticeably over the course of the trip, which is why I didn't go out of my way to fuel up. The result was my rental cost nearly doubling. Enormously disappointing, especially since I had the van back within an hour. Should have rented from Home Depot and will do that in the future.Sara S.

our truck had a broken air conditioning. we had to return to the location to get a truck with working air conditioner which made us late to the warehouse which we were picking up some furniture. ( the reason we rented the truck). Called Mitchell and he told us he would extend the rental for one day. when we delivered the truck there was no record of the extra day and we have been charged the extra day. I returned it at night, about 9 pm, and so I had to fill out the on-line information which required me to take pictures of the trailer. Although it was pouring rain outside (as in 30 mph winds blowing sleets of thick heavy rain), I took the picture, but the internet facility would not accept it. I repeated this several times (after which I was thoroughly soaked, dripping wet, cold, and very miserable), but it never accepted the picture. While sitting in my car on the U-Haul lot, I finally called U-Haul and spoke with someone who told me I had to speak with someone else, and so I was transferred, only to get a recording asking me if I wanted a call-back or would like to wait. I selected call-back, and it told me it would call back within 4-11 minutes. Well, it did call me back in about 10 minutes but then said I would need to hold. I held for another 30 minutes, finally deciding I had had enough. So I left. By this time it was almost 10pm. They finally did respond on the call-back, about 10:30pm, 1.5 hours after I had first arrived at the U-Haul facility. I am not a complainer and I realize that things don't always go perfectly. But this experience was really pretty terrible. U-Haul needs to rethink their picture-taking requirement and their on-line internet facility.James M.
Mobile pick up did not work for me for reasons unknown. So I had to go to the counter to pick up the keys for my rental. I ended up waiting in line for 40 minutes because only one person was working the counter. This significantly altered my moving schedule. And I had reserved a furniture cart but none were available when I picked up.Elias D.
The lady who we dropped this trailer off with on 5/10/2022 didn't officially check it in at the location. Vinni Graham added an extra 50 minutes to our return, therefore making our return late and charging an extra day. We returned the trailer on 5/10/2022 and he didn't check it in until 5/12/2022 at 10:50am. This is fraud!Stacie F.

The guys who work at this location on Nicollet Av are really working harder than other locations as they have a lot completely full of trucks to keep coming and going on really a corner lot that is too small for as many trucks as they rent. Its practically a landmark though, that location and we've used it many times for decades. The guys work hard and could probably use another hand.Laura R.

Despite setting up mobile check in, Gabriel would not give me my key without waiting in line for 10 minutes. When I did arrive at the front of the line, he had the key right in front of him. Literally only made me wait out of rudeness and spite. He was rude throughout our interaction. There is clearly no point in the mobile check in if you have to wait in line either way. This was quite an unpleasant interaction, and hopefully I will not move again for a good long time.William Z.
Gas tank should be full at pick-up time. We received our truck at only 1/2 full. All day loading the truck, we got on the road in the evening. We had to fill up late at night in an unknown, possible unsafe area. Smooth, comfortable, and easy to drive even in cross winds. Funny story to share- Hubby misplaced his morning coffee as we loaded up in Winnemucca, Nevada. To our surprise, he left the lidded cup on the tailgate and it remained there the entire trip to Mountain View, California. 422 miles and it didn't spill! Smooth driving truck!Joyce R.

It's not thelat is wasn't clean, it's the fact that the location is very small and cramped. No space to maneuver inside and out. It was clean but hard to be inviting when it's only one way in for vehicles and no parking for customers.ERIC T.
This was my worst rent with U-Haul ever! Messed up my order, found out the day before that I had no truck. I scheduled at least 2 weeks out. Only got the confirmation call to say I had no truck. Then I was charged triple my original rate and the times I booked were no longer available. They told me of would happen but they charged me another day after being the truck back at 2pm instead of noon, nevermind my original order allowed me to have the truck til 8pm. The rep that called about the late return was not user friendly and the truck was stinky and there was broken glass in the back of the truck.. I was called by a representative that my rental was being used and the person extended their rental time so the rep was able to find me the same truck at another location closer to where I was moving. When going there the people helping me said they didn't have the truck and they actually did. They just were too lazy to look. I went to several places and they kept saying the location on 3545 Nicollet Ave had one. After and hour and a half of trying to find a rental, they actually looked and realized they had one all along. I wasted 2 hours of my day that I could of used to move.jaime R.

It was very chaotic when I returned the truck Sun morning. The lot was crowded with trucks. In my first try getting in I hit a dead end and had to back the truck up into a busy street. The check-in app didn't work (not necessarily the location's fault and may have been causing the problems). There was a long line. Finally I found an employee helping in the parking lot. He did a great job job directing truck traffic and helping me quickly check in the truck.Michael W.

We gave them another chance. It was horrible. 1. Windshield had a huge crack extending from the right side of the windshield almost to the middle. It was horizontal and at eye level. i was nauseous the whole time because of it. But worse, it was a big safety issue. The van never should have been allowed on the road with such an unsafe windshield. We called about it and spoke to mitchell at 410pm on 4/30, he admitted they knew about the crack. 2. The front seats were full of dog hair from a previous customer. It was disgusting that it wasn't cleaned. I have pictures. 3. The cargo area was dirty, dried mud and stains everywhere. I have pictures if someone wants to see see them. 4. We left the van cleaner than it was when we got it, but it is not clean enough to be rented to another family. And I said that in my return questionnaire. I have pictures if someone wants to see see them. 5. The â€œCHECK ENGINE OILâ€ was displayed the entire time on the dashboard. My husband couldn't get it to turn off, he couldn't see the odometer while driving. It was annoying. The van should not have been rented out like this. 6. The worst thing for my husband was a VERY loud air whooshing through the drivers window. At 65 mph it was barely tolerable for him. At 70mph He could not hear the radio, and it was intolerable. The van NEVER should have been rented in this condition. This is two times in a row that we have had a horrible experience with this Uhaul location. It reflects extremely poorly on the low standards Uhaul has sunk to. The $60 goodwill credit we got last time was inadequate for what we experienced last time; and such a credit for this time will also be inadequate for what my family had to endure this time. Wemay be done with Uhaul for good.NORA W.
