I was helped by two U-Haul employees - Virginia and Frank. Both gave EXCELLENT customer service. And I'm not just saying that! Each of them truly did all they could to help me with my truck and accessory needs. it made my rental experience with U-Haul a pleasure. Rented a van about 2 weeks earlier from same location, newish & clean. Now, not as new, not as clean-also many nicer vans to choose from, that I had to walk & walk & walk by...why? So, a suggestion (like National (car rental company)), according to my price range, I am sent to a row of different make, models, clean, unclean, newish cars to choose from; immediately I feel comfortable & confident to drive. At uhaul, I would have been more satisfied with five other vans that I had to walk on by, sad.

The online checkout experience was much worse than just talking to a customer representative at the location. I had to stand around and wait 15 minutes while something unknown (?) was happening with my "online agent". I was also annoyed that I had to give the number of a friend of mine to rent a van--I never had to do that when renting at the counter.

This is a corporate issue (not lcation-specific): the iPhone U-haul app can be somewhat unstable (i.e. breakable). additional app suggestions: add hitch/ball ratings to stroed cat info as well as other info tha is required for trailer rental. As the idea is to cut down on the time for checkout it would be useful not to have to enter or re-enter info on checkout at the location.

The older guy with the crazy beard was pretty useless, wasn't wearing his mask most the time, forgot to add the pads I'd ordered to the truck, and was seemingly bickering with his coworkers both times I was there. Additionally, I made a reservation for a pickup/dropoff point close to my house, and got a call from customer service saying it was now only available at a location in Mountain View, which added about 24 miles to my trip (+12 both ways) and resulted in about a $36 increase in my total bill. Lastly, the website for checking it back in was misleading, and repeatedly said I would HAVE to download the app, when in reality the checking process can be done via the website.

Truck was with transmission/suspension issue, not safe to drive, jumping like a crazy. It was scary to drive this Truck. And at the end of the day they said that they never had any issues with this Truck before... very low level of responsibility...

Your mobile checkout process is a disaster. Issues with pictures uploads in Firefox, chrome was changing fuel data based on phone orientation. I couldn't not make a picture of milage and fuel at the same time as there saw service message on a screen.

There were plenty of available vehicles and my online reservation was efficiently handled. While the 15' truck I rented was adequate for my move, I don't think I have ever driven such an awful vehicle! The engine felt really poorly maintained and at first I wondered if it would even make it up into the hills where I lived. I found the container of blankets lashed to the inside of the truck annoying as they take up space and impede loading if you choose not to use them. The dolly had been used by the prior renter and the seal had not been replaced, which I didn't notice until I was loading. I appreciated the easy access and spacious lot. Some other UHauls are cramped and locked down.

After confirming our pickup and drop off location one month in advance, we were told 5 days before our move that we might need to drive up to 200 miles to pick up our truck and we would be charged much more than we were originally told. Since we confirmed our reservation a month in advance and we were only moving 50 miles away, this was unacceptable, but it was fixed (our pick-up/drop-off location was changed from redwood city to mountain view). Upon pick up, the women in the store was incredibly rude. She talked over us, completely ignored questions, did not clarify what she was saying and had a terrible attitude (at one point, when we asked for clarification on the price she said "That's what I just said"). I've worked in customer service and I'm honestly appalled at our experience. Lastly, the furniture pads had a lot of dust, grass and debris which was frustrating because it flew everywhere. Additionally, when we reserved via phone we were originally going to be charged $10 for the 2 dozen pads, but ultimately we were charged $20 and its not clear why. We tried to ask, but of course she completely ignored the question. We've used uhaul in the past and we'd like to use it again in the future, but this experience was awful. Please communicate with the staff at that location that their behavior was completely unacceptable. I'm honestly horrified that an employee that behaves that way is still there. (We visited the store on November 28th, 2020 at 8am)

Have the gas tank filled in order to make the refilling easier for the customer. Not having a full tank of gas makes the refilling to the exact level a problem and is poor customer service.

The staff is so rude, condescending, and un responsive, it is incredible. For every customer you MAY get, I guarantee you there are three who are turned away and will never come back. Think about the revenue you are NOT making because of poor customer service. Nice business plan.

In-person experience was miserable, especially the return. Not pleased with how unprofessional and uncoordinated the staff were. Check-out is also far too slow. I had a charge added to my order that wasn't there before! Buyer beware!

Staff is rude, truck I reserved originally I was told I had to go 3+ hours away to get it, I offered to do a round trip and was told I had to pay for miles, the entire thing was ridiculous. I ended up trying to do an intown rental and scrambling and was basically made to feel like I was incompetent for waiting until the last minute when my original reservation was made well in advance.

I found it really hard to believe that the specific trailer I was looking for wasn't available on the day of my rental. I wanted an enclosed trailer but had to get an open one because you guys didn't have any in my entire area! Get more equipment is my suggestion. I should've gotten a discount because ya'll didn't have what I was looking for!

I could not check in by my phone -- I was disappointed in that. Please check it more thoroughly. Frank is very good. The 10' GM truck: was very difficult to wiggle the steering wheel so that I could start the ignition. Overall, I thought the quality was embarrassing for an American brand. Not too hard to drive. The trucks could smell better -- always smell like someone smoking flavored cigarettes drove it before me. Need more room between the truck return and the next building.

My experience with Uhaul was entirely positive. The workers there were efficient, professional and knowledgeable. Check out of the trailer was smooth and quick. Was a few hours late to return the trailer but there was an employee there to assist me after hours(thanks Frank). I WILL definitely be back for my moving needs and will highly recommend U haul to my friends and relatives.

On initial inspection the cab looked to be clean, but during the course of the trip I found an old mask, hairband and garbage that was not ours. During a pandemic it's concerning that the cab was not cleaned better.

Gas is not full filled when I get the truck. And only one associate is there when I return the truck. The check in process is unclear to me. Should I check in all in the app, or should I go to the counter? And the staff there told me no onsite parking, actually there are much space there, but I am not allowed to park there

I was charged for fuel even thought I returned it at the same level. I had to call UHaul to contest this charge and even had to send a photo I took at the end of the rental to verify the fuel level. I am lucky I took that photo before exiting the truck.

First I had a truck reserved that the site could not honor. they told me I may have to drive for a truck but that a truck was guaranteed. this did not happen. when I changed my move out of the apt a day early to get a last minute truck for 12 hours, I had to argue my way to get a truck because the guy on site also told me 'I may not be able to honor that reservation". upon returning the truck, (driving 10 mi total and adding gas (2.5 gallons) back to where it was when I rented it, I was told that I did not fill it back up to where it needed to be and that I would need to pay additionally. I even showed the receipt and confirmed with her my total mileage was only 10 miles, but she would not budge. honestly it was uHaul that made this entire moving experience TERRIBLE, and the least you could do is show some good customer service to make up for it. I will do everything in my power not to use uhaul again.
