I was a couple of miles away and felt something crawling on me- the truck was full of baby spiders and webs- apparently they were told there was a problem before and the boss didn't "see anything" but several employees said they heard about the problem. I returned and they cleaned the truck out- I ended up being a few miles over what i originally paid for (because of the spiders) and they said they would still need to charge me- i didn't even ask for a discount- just not to charge me the time or miles it took to return and get the truck cleaned of the hundreds of spiders. Still get a chill thinking about it!

I had the truck from the morning, til that night. I tried to do the self check in, but their website kept cycling me back to entering the same info again. This happened multiple times. Then today I get my receipt and they charged me 2 days ! Stay away !!

This experience was extremely stressful. I made an online reservation for a 9' cargo van and found out two days before the rental started that UHaul doesn't offer one-way rentals with 9' vans and I was getting a 10' truck. Had I known this at the time of the reservation, I would have rented a van from another company since we didn't need a bigger truck, the truck gets 50% worse mileage than the van, and driving it is more difficult. Also, I received texts 2 days before the rental started saying that equipment was in very high demand. I called twice to confirm that the truck I reserved would still be available and was told it would be. The day before my reservation I got a text saying they were "at a stand still with options". When I called to see what that meant, I was told they did not know when the truck I reserved would be available - no time frame given at all. Later that day they called to say it would be ready 3.5 hours later than I had reserved it for which meant we hit rush hour traffic and our 5 hour trip took 7 hours.

My vehicle was pretty beat up. But the thing that really galls me is your program related to gas. If a company wants to be fair to its customers, its policy is "get it full, bring it back full". If a company wants to be unfair to its customers, it picks an arbitrary fill line, which is impossible to hit. So you either give U-Haul free gas, or you get charged a premium for extra gas PLUS a $30 service fee. I promise that I will never rent a truck from U-Haul again.

the staff was not really friendly. people didn't jump in to help me. i had to walk around and find help. and then they acted like i was a bother to them. idk. it was just weird and not a great experience. i wish i had another rental option.

I had reserved a 15 ft. truck. When I arrived, I was told that one of the 2 trucks had been returned but lights were left on, so battery was dead. The other, as the attendant said, "had to be put down." This necessitated me having to rent a 10 foot truck which was very inconvenient because I wanted the ramp on it! This is the 2nd time in a row I've rented a truck and something wasn't right with it.

The two saleswomen could not have been less interested in their jobs. Told me I could not park my car on site (I would have to go down the road to Walmart), because "there are no spaces." When I pointed out that there were plenty of free spaces, they said "that's not customer parking." When I asked why there was no customer parking, they said, "It is but it's mostly full, and the spots that aren't are blocked in by a truck we haven't moved yet." For the first 2/3s of this conversation, I was the only customer in the store. Even when the next customer arrived, there were two clerks and one certainly could have moved the truck to one of the "not for customers" spaces, rather than make customers walk down/across the street to use another store's lot. Spent most time chatting with each other, in between telling me (and then the next customer) why they could not do what was being asked of them. I heard considerably more about the personal life of not-Autumn than I did about anything else. To be fair, Autumn was helpful when I returned the rental ten minutes after closing, and accepted the truck when I had an issue with the self-checkout. I understand staffing is in short supply, but the uncooperative vibe was disheartening.

I wish I'd known that returning the trailer we rented early (the night before instead of 9am the following morning) would result in a $20 "off hours" fee. We left it clean and nearly parked in an open spot in the Equipment Return area the night before, thinking we were being helpful by enabling them to rent it to the next person sooner. Next time, I'll wait until the scheduled return time.

Long waits 2 times, bad, unfriendly service, truck full of dents & motor light on, given incorrect info about refuelling & overcharged (corrected with credit). Just awful. Uhaul Springfield on Boston road has old dented trucks as well but friendly, fast & helpful staff. Much better.

The service at the location was slow but fine, but overall my experience with UHaul was as terrible as it typically is. I couldn't figure out where I was going to be picking up my truck until the day before and called to verify at that location. I had also requested a 9am pick up because I had movers arriving at noon and other items to get from a storage unit, but they wouldn't give me a truck until 1pm. Then Uhaul failed to tell me the location had been changed until I showed up to pick up my truck where I learned that I had to go to a location 45 minutes away - so once again I had to delay the arrival of my movers. It was a very stressful, confusing, and hectic experience, but things like this always happen when I use Uhaul, so I was at least expecting terrible service from corporate.

MAJOR issue with the van I rented. The van stalled as I was driving on the highway! I could not accelerate and the gas gage dropped to empty. I was in the center lane, but managed to coast over the shoulder before the vehicle stopped rolling. I could have been stuck in the middle of a very busy highway and could have been hit. Thankfully I was able to start it back up again and it seemed fine after that. I drove in the right lane the rest of the trip in case it happened again. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. VERY UNSAFE. *my rating is based on this issue alone.

This location was great. UHaul's corporate website, however, is terrible. I was trying to rent a truck and trailer in the Brattleboro, VT area, and it was telling me that both were available at several local locations. When I followed up with those locations, they told me that they have NEVER rented trucks or trailers. When I called a main UHaul phone number, I could only get information about rentals in that state. I live at the border of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, but had to call all three states to try to find the rental I was looking for. The New Hampshire UHaul reserved a truck and trailer for me that was located over two hours from where I live in Vermont. They told me this in a text, despite the fact that I said I wanted to be contacted by phone because of this very concern of mine. And so while I rate the Northampton, MA UHaul highly, I think your website and phone reservation systems need a lot of work.

Drop off location was full, not a huge deal. After hours drop off is vague and annoying to deal with, it sounds like there is a way to not get charged but I followed the directions and still got the fee. Whatever.

I was very happy with the van, it worked very well for the move I was involved in. Jeremy, the young man who checked me in and whim I reported to at drop off, was polite, informative. I'm sure you already know this, Jeremy sure could use more staff. He's was working the counter, the phone , getting vehicles , and in the garage. He multi-tasked well and stayed calm. Too much interaction amongst employees about things that had nothing to do with U-Hail business. Other than that things were well handled. However, the associate told me I was going to get an email receipt. I did not receive a receipt. I would have called to inquire about what happened to my electronic receipt. But it is such a pain in the ass to call. Because no one answers the phone. I get a message that my business is important but, it will be over an hour of wait time to speak to a person. You have to do something about the customer service aspect of U-Haul. I will rent again but I will not call on the phone. It is quicker to get in my car to drive over to the U-Haul location. At 277 North Jing street in Northampton.

It took awhile to find the person manning the office. He was helpful with the in-processing but when we arrived at our loading location we found the pads we requested were not in the truck and had to go back to the office to get them.

Unfriendly employee rented the truck to me. A day later the same employee checked the truck over and on the final bill I was charged a fuel charge (2 gallons, $10.62). I put in $10.81. I drove the truck 27.70 miles. I paid over $21 in gas for 27 miles! I resent that kind of dishonesty from a large company that i have turned to so many times over the last 30 years. Really, you need to be dishonest about $10?! Your gas gauge is imprecise. Your employees should be trained to not take advantage of your customers in this way!

How can I trust this company when they couldn't even clean the car at the bare minimum (the van was filthy) to trust that they checked any safety features, such as tire pressure or other necessities. They didn't bother to warn me the passenger door was broken (it had the most minute x on it), so when we opened the door it crushed the panel every time it was opened. They don't even come out to review the vehicle with you. Your app did not work for me to report any problems and I was given no alternative options on how to report that I was picking up a filthy car. So there you go. UHaul I'm a nutshell.

The gentleman working in the store the morning of the 29th was not very pleasant. There were three people in line, one of them for a propane tank. He told that person that he was very busy and that he could come back tomorrow.

Complete lack of customer service, not a drop in sight. Reservation was confirmed for a 8am pick up with truck share program. Arrived at 8am sharp only to find out the truck was never prepped for an early pick up. Forced to wait for the store to open at 9am. When the employees arrived, I stood at the front door waiting to be acknowledged at which point they each walked by me and refused to make eye contact. When the door was finally unlocked and I explained the situation, the response was “yeah no one knows what's going on around here, I'm not surprised”. I needed the rental and was already running late, I just held my tongue. The truck did the job. Overall terrible experience and will never recommend this outlet to anyone.
