So the truth is, I would've given this a 5-star rating -- and in fact, DESERVED a 5-star rating -- except for one single issue, which was alarming to me. It was a great experience, and the truck was perfect. No problems whatsoever with any of that. The ONLY issue I had was that Nadia took my phone....and took it outside.....without telling me....and used it to take pics. Her exact words: "lemme see your phone". I was a bit perplexed, but gave it to her. She took it and then started filling out the form on it.....and then walked outside with it to take pics. Extremely bizarre. In today's world, you just don't do that. However I spoke to two other employees and they were both awesome. VERY much appreciated their responses. I will be happy to use U-Haul again, as I assume that this matter will be addressed and rectified.

Robert KI did everything right and still had the worst experience possible. I made a reservation, downloaded the stupid app and showed up on time to pick up my truck. But the office was chaos and nobody knew how to help the customers. We were literally told to turn off our Uhaul apps as it was disrupting their computer system. I then waited for over an hour and a half before someone could get me keys to my truck that was visibly is plain sight right outside the door. This was a ridiculous and infuriating experience and I will never rent from Uhaul again. I will use a more modern service like Turo or just hire a moving company as the inefficiency and lack of customer care was outrageous.

PETRU AThe desk and yard person were very rude.threatened not to honor my reservation because I parked in the yard last Friday because the car had valuables in it. The neighborhood is sketchy and when I was in Monday for a trailer rental. The desk gal said I could park in the back. I parked in the back when I came back on Friday and the Same desk gal said I could not park in the back. I said you said I could Monday when I was in last. She got upset I told her she told me it was ok on Monday. Then she sent the yard guy in to tell me I couldn’t park there. Told him I was already parked and just wanted to get my trailer so I could leave. He told me move the car or no rental. Both could’ve handled this better - said you can park here this time but no more.

HOLLIE WWe waited in line for 90 minutes after arriving on time for our reservation. Then the truck was below empty on gas.
Anders DGood variety of trailers/trucks but there was so many that it was hard to get in and out of the lot. Only one entrance/exit. Hard to hear or understand the counter guy. But maybe he was new.

Andre HThe "reservation" system is a mess. I'm sure U-Haul has already received this feedback from many other customers. I was told the day before my reservation that the location I wanted didn't have a trailer available, and I would need to drive an extra 15 to 50 miles for an available trailer. This required a lot of extra planning and stress on my part. The U-Haul representatives I spoke to didn't seem to understand an annual marathon in San Francisco on reservation day would make one of their locations likely inaccessible. The day of the reservation, I called to confirm there was a trailer at the new location, but then there WAS a trailer at my first choice after all. So then I had to change plans very last minute again. There's nothing in the reservation system that makes it clear the vehicle/trailer requested is not guaranteed and may not be available when needed. No complaints about the workers at the locations. They were all knowledgeable and doing their best. I would definitely go with a different company if U-Haul didn't have a monopoly on trailer rentals.

Christopher KI scheduled my pickup from U Haul in Hayward, and before my pickup, got a text saying that my pickup location was switched to Oakland, probably because they decided to rent out the equipment to someone else to make extra money. During pickup, the staff connected a brake cable that only worked from time to time. At drop off, the staff was very nice and helpful. This experience makes me think that I should look for alternative other than U Haul as their equipment availability is not guaranteed even If I have a reservation. . I had multiple jobs lined up for the weekend, and I almost couldn’t deliver because of this.

marsha lOutside crew was very professional, friendly, and helpful. They showed me how to hook the trailer up, how to remove it, and work the door. They tested the lights to make sure they work. Great experience.

Mitchell ACharge what you promise to charge your clients. Don’t over charge them. We discussed a issue and I was promised that I wouldn’t get charge for the extra day and they charged me anyway.
TRINA WDon't change reservation hours before pickup -- location was changed and hand truck was not available despite me having reserved one. I waited in line for over an hour while staff struggled with computer systems to check people in to their rentals and process payments. Probably the last time I will ever use uhaul.

LARRY BHire more staff! The staff was nice; however, this is a very busy location, and I had to wait some time for a staff member to address me in order to turn in my truck rental. They were obviously overwhelmed and doing the best they could, so it would be beneficial to hire additional staff to help.

I waited nearly 30 minutes for him to deal with one customer. He clearly hates the job, worst service I have ever received and now I'm being charged extra fees I had no idea existed and no receipt provided

Kelly VNo hassle, but been there before, and didn't expect any. Was going to go to Home Depot, but there policies, penalties, 1 hour or 4 hours or whatever rates. U-haul was simple $20 + mileage. Get it back with fuel. Done.

Tamra MLiterally, the U-Haul employee at the counter dealing with the person in front of me with it older black Nigerian customer concluding his transaction was so accommodating and understanding and polite. It took his time and actually gave him some small discounts and it made me feel really good that I was next in line even though I’m a 72 year-old white American, I felt really comfortable and I dealt with other employees at the desk returning my vehicle equally is wonderful when I dropped off my U-Haul, which was an amazing vehicle. It ran great no problems. I rate that U-Haul hundred percent.
elton lStaff friendly, not helpful. First off I never rented this thing. This is the worst expirence I have ever had with any retailer. It took 2+ months to get this resolved. Won't use uhaul again
