An older black man was soooooo helpful. He was there when I came back and he was so friendly and helpful. I will always remember him. I was having a very rough day and he really made my day. The person who rented me the truck was wonderful and very friendly. Easy process. Returning the vehicle was difficult. A woman worker opened the back door and yelled at me that the truck was dirty and I had to pay $25. She had a very harsh demeanor. I noted that it was not dirty, I got it like that, and that I would clean it out. But I would not pay the fee. She insisted and i repeated that I would not pay the fine. A friendly worker lent me a tool and I removed a few leaves. The woman then began to talk loudly at me and was very agitated She refused to check me out. She walked away swearing about me. I could clearly hear her. I've rented trucks with ease at this location at least 10 times over the years. Wow, I was really taken aback by this worker's level of anger. I should be reimbursed for the rental fee due to this hostile behavior. Many workers witnessed it.Margaret R.

Staff is difficult to work with. They can't answer basic questions or listen to a customer explain what they need. If you question them they give a lot of attitude and take it as a personal offense. I'm not sure they are trained on customer service at all. They are impossible to reach by phone. If they do call you back it will be minutes before closing as to avoid the return phone call. Overall one of the worst U-Haul locations I've dealt with using them for my business. Will be looking elsewhere moving forward.Frank L.

clean the truck. look in the cupholders, around the seats, and in the loading area. I found an old sweaty shirt, peanut fragments, a sticky old straw, and a bucket of nails wedged in the cargo bay. also, when someone requests a dolly, actually put it in the truck. fortunately the employees offered me a refund on the dolly right away.Paul D.

Awful experience here. Did not have the equipment we reserved when we arrived. Provided no solution or back-up option. We were stuck on the day of our move without moving pads and had to desperately beg our friends and family for back-up moving pads to use. We had RESERVED these! What is the point of reservation if it does not exist? Truck smelled of cigarette smoke and was dirty. Gas tank was not full. Overall frustrating experience, will not recommend to others. The pick up location didn't check the truck and when I check it myself there were blanket all over the truck and one big bag of blanket in the passenger seat. I asked him to remove it he refused and been told to return the tuck as it is. When I return the truck they ask me why should I have the blankets which is funny I did not request them and I didn't use them. I was originally scheduled to pick up at Gilman street in Berkeley. I went there and was told that the truck was unavailable because a part of the truck was stolen. Understandable, things happenâ€¦ however, I was disappointed by the customer service there. It was frustrating that the solution for the problem was for me to have to contact UHaul Customer Service and find a new truck. Not a huge deal but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way that I was basically told it was my problem to solve and not the company's. I'm guessing that the representative at the U-Haul location at Gilman street probably didn't have the ability or know how to do solve that problem. That seems like something they should be trained or have the capability to find a solution to a problem like that without just giving the problem to the customer to figure out.Samuel M.

I wish these trucks had a camera that could function as a stand-in for the rear-view mirror. I'm a bit spoiled with it on my car (2017 Chevy Bolt). That extra visibility would help me feel safer. Also wish I had a recycle option for the airflow, especially while driving through wildfire country.Stuart N.

The van I used was brand new. The door sensors were glitching the whole time I used it (a great way to push someone moving to absolute madness). Also, I sustained a fairly serious head injury from the bracket that the back & side doors latch into. They protrude beyond the door frame and are black on black and not easily noticed if you aren't looking for them. My partner also hit his head but not nearly as hard as me. There is no way someone else won't do the same thing. They need to have something bright or a caution sign or something. It's seriously dangerous. I was bleeding for hours and had to call into work. I'd honestly appreciate some kind of compensation but I don't personally have time to call and argue about it. Either way, someone else will hurt themselves and you can expect a far bigger fit about than this from the right person.Erica F.

I hate still having to wait in line for the contract AFTER completing all the required steps on the reservation. Plus, when I get to the location, the representatives treat me like everybody else "get in line!" "No vehicles in the equipment area without a contract!". I can understand why they might feel customers need to be treated like they have never done this before, but that model is old and outdated. Look at my account. Look how many times I've been to YOUR store, and rented YOUR equipment. Treat me with some understanding. I don't need to listen to people people taught the insurance nuances of damage waivers and how to put gas in a van. I NEED TO GET MY TRAILER. Let me do that more quickly.Scott R.

i had to wait a long time despite the self-check in feature, as the signage asked people not to enter the vehicle lot to find the assigned truck in order to complete the process. the site didn't have enough staff to handle the customers. every other time i've been to a u-haul, the staff have always immediately greeted me and directed me to the appropriate area to expedite the process. this was unnecessarily long and it's just not ideal when you're on a tight timeline to meet movers, etc.melodie Y.

Truck was not worth $500 plus fuel for 11 hours and 286 miles. Truck was extremely noisy in the cab. When loaded the truck did not track well on the freeway. Worst most expensive rental I have had in a long time. I rent 6 trucks a year From Uhaul and Penske. This is the last Uhaul.Garret L.
