App would not work for "check in", kept looping back to log in screen no matter what I did. Staff was friendly and helpful, but also had some technology challenges that made getting the equipment take a bit longer. As a frequent renter, I'd love the option to use the app for booking, checking in and getting the trailer, hook it up myself, go, and return it, without having to step inside the location.Richard C.

Trailer was still filthy from previous rental, doesn't matter much for use but aesthetics weren't the best, service was meh. No real leadership in the manager and didn't tell exactly where to go just a general location on drop off. Was asked to return it as early as I can on the final day I had it since it was double booked and I had to have it in by 9am Monday, even though I returned it today.Isaiah P.

I think the manager here doesn't know what she is doing. I went 20 miles to pick it up and she says the chain is long so she can't rent it. I have work lined up for next day. If the trailers are not ready, you should not list them for renting, or have better people who know how to hook up the trailers.ROHAN L.

The battery in the vehicle died when I went to start the truck up once I picked up my belongings. I had to get a jump to start the truck. Your vehicles need to be serviced on a regular basis.Stephen W.
I made a reservation and specifically chose no insurance, when I picked up the vehicle the person added insurance without asking, and charged me for it without telling me. This is legally a bait and switch, I will be submitting a CC charge back for this.Joshua L.

You can try not lying to people and also not putting saving a few dollars on a tow truck over the customer's time. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with renting a truck. They cost us two days travel time and and around 200 dollars more in fuel because we went from a 15 foot truck to a 26 foot truck after the first truck broke down. It over 24 hours for them to get us back on the road. We were lucky no one was hurt as the main hydraulic line busted while we were driving through the mountains down 6 and 7% declines. When the mechanic showed up and told us there was nothing he could do we were forced to try to find a motel for the night, Everything was booked because of the Rodeo in Ellensburg. Fortunately the person working the front desk at the Econolodge had been listening to our conversations with roadside assistance and gave us the room they keep for emergencies otherwise we would have had to sleep in the truck. We were called that night at 11 pm and asked what time we wanted to do the truck exchange. We told them 10 am. We get a call the next day at 10 am and are told that they have a tow truck lined up but it would be 5 hours before they could get to us and then another 2-3 hours to the uhaul location we were being towed to. After asking them why it was going to take so long they made some more calls and were able to get bus a tow truck by noon. We then had to ride in the tow truck with no AC for 3 hours to a different location than what we were told. The truck driver told us that he had no tows the entire morning and that they had called him 3 times trying to get a cheaper price on the tow. We were suppose to go to Yakima but instead were towed to Richlan. Upon arriving at the Richlan location we were informed that the truck we were going to exchange into was not there and was still in Chelan over 2 hours away. The people at this location played phone tag with roadside assistance for about an hour then called the main office and told them they were going to give us a 26 foot truck so that we could get back on the road. Even the people working there said that Uhaul should refund my money after everything had been so poorly handled. Now that we were on our way again after being down over 24 hours, just 3 hours back on the road we run into a 150 mile I-84 closure that caused us to shut down again for the night which we could have been past and avoided had we not had the over 24 hour delay. So a second day lost. We left Washington state on Wednesday August 31st at around 3pm. We did not reach our destination in Texas until the following Sunday at around 3 pm. In all this truck rental cost me more than the 3800 dollar price tag which was 1100 more than the original estimate i got in the beginning of August. It cost me 2 days of travel 2 extra nights in motels and around 200 dollars more in fuel, not to mention the Sketchy mountain passes and goat trails we had to drive this 26 foot through to get around the wild fires we were trapped behind on I-84. This was without exception the worst truck rental experience I have ever had. I was told by customer service 4 days ago that a general Manager was going to call me within 3 days and guess what... that was a lie also as I never heard from the General Manager.christopher F.

I brought the truck back in impeccably clean condition. I only hauled a few 16' pieces of house trim. I completely swept it out, regardless of the fact that I didn't deposit any debris in it. It was as clean as that truck has been for a long while, and they decided they would hit me with a $25 cleaning fee. Absolute BS. There was nobody there to greet me when I returned the truck. There was a line of trucks waiting to be returned. There was nobody servicing/receiving the first truck in line. There was nobody there, I can only surmise that this is a scam perpetrated upon people like myself that go above and beyond to do their duty to return the trucks cleaner than they were rented. Lady at counter very polite, helpful and diligent. Went downhill from there, Man in truckyard was lazy, lacking in knowledge and unwilling to do anything he was not forced to do. Counter clerk lady was clearly put out with him, as well. First truck assigned had broken driver door lock. Couldn't be unlocked or opened. Yardman was aware of issues with that unit, but expected me (65 yrs old) to just enter on passengers side and slide across. Furthermore, my ordered supplies were not all preloaded in that truck as shown on contract. Finally, Second truck assigned and accepted. We were moving from apartment less than 10 miles from the U-Haul facility. When it was time to drive off after truck was loaded, the truck would not start. Dead battery with dead cell, (not just run down). Called for assistance. Had to wait 10-15 minutes to actually talk to someone. Also, filed online claim. An hour passed with still no assistance. A good Samaritan came along and vunteered to help. He was able to help us jump start truck. This mechanical issue caused the loss of over 1.5 hours plus caused extra cost with hired movers, plus caused return of truck to be overdue with added expense, etc. Tried to call in to U-Haul to discuss with no success. Be very aware of doing business with U-Haul.Steven G.

The transmission in the truck I used is shot, and not only is the vehicle unsafe it's extremely gas inefficient. The engine would rev to almost 5k rpms every time it shifted up and down, which caused the truck to lurch forward. Also, the side mirror is so loose that I had to tape it down. It seems like they put grease in it, and now the wind or any turning makes the mirror unusable. The location itself was fine, but the truck that I used (and over paid for due to the terrible MPG) needs to serious work.Christopher S.

This locations issue was primarily due to reconciling the incorrect mileage and fuel levels. Despite me actually filling up the fuel to where the contract stated(which was 1/8 of a tank higher than what the truck had when I received it, which I proved with a timestamped photo), I was charged 2 gallons for fill up. Also, I was charged an extra 8 or 9 miles beyond the 40 mile estimate even though I had a photo proving how much I drove.Robert W.

The A/C in the truck was not functional. Did not blow cold air out the dash vents. Further, the lock provided for the rear door of the truck was broken. The employees are NOT given the power to adjust the amount charged to the customer for things like this - very disappointing - when you don't get 100% of what you paid for, then the bill at the end should not be 100% Employees at the location were very good, and said "sorry" - better would be if they could knock a few $$$ off the bill, but UHaul does not empower their employees to do such things - I have seen them try, but they always fail to be able to manipulate the bill in the computer or it "requires a manager" (who is never available at the time)Walter D.

I only ended up at this location because your system let me make a reservation at the "we ship" in Tukwila which no longer did rentals. Your phone rep told me they should have tried harder to let me know that this location didn't do uhaul anymore but that "maybe that rep was new or something". I had to wait on hold in the parking lot for 20 minutes and then drive in traffic another 30 to get this truck. Update your website. If a reservation isn't going to happen let your customer know. I was told at my rental location (which was close to my home and different than my pick up location which was 40 minutes away) that I pay when I DROP OFF the trailer. The gentleman was well aware it was a ONE WAY RENTAL to Salt Lake City. When I picked up the trailer (in Renton Highlands) I was asked "how would I like to pay?" I explained I was under the impression payment was done at drop off. Because this information was given to me at my rental location I did not bring the credit card with me that i wanted to use. The young man at the pick up location then told me "it will be a pending charge" and I can then use my preferred credit card when I drop it off in Salt Lake City. Once I arrived in SLC at my drop off location I spoke to the young lady and asked if I could change my payment method (which remember TWO different locations told me i could do it). She then informed me that I couldn't do it because I paid when I picked up the trailer. Obviously I was given wrong information. This is very disappointing. My rental was just under $700 and I ended up having to use my debit card WHICH I DID NOT WANT TO USE. Although the employees at all three locations were very helpful and friendly, there should be a consistent level of knowledge regarding rental policies AT ALL LOCATIONS.TANYA B.

When I rented the pickup truck, I was given a link that shows the truck in perfect condition. What is the purpose of this as the truck I rented had damage to the bed door which was caused by a prior renter. I did not notice this when I picked up the truck and accused the person who loaded the truck for the damage. I went back to U-Haul, and they explained what had happened.Frits B.

I was originally supposed to have a 20' truck 20 miles from this location. The only bad part about my experience was that I was confirmed for a truck that was not at my original location and a truck 6 feet longer than what I initially ordered was all I could find 20 miles in the opposite direction of all of my truck needs for the day. Despite uhaul only charging for the20 foot truck I still had to pay gas and short change my ability to drop off at my warehouse due to the total miles used. The employees were great at this location and helpful in assisting me with unloading the remainder of my goods from the truck into my pick up to take the remaining 20 miles back to my warehouse.Marissa G.

Scheduled a truck plus hired moving help from Uhaul website a week in advance. For the second consecutive weekend, was called 12 hours before my pickup time to tell me the truck would not be ready for my AM pickup and I was rescheduled for 2 PM This was after I had already had set up times with movers based on 9 AM pickup. It created a gigantic problem as final destination was 3 hours away and Uhaul did nothing to try to make it right. Last time I'll ever use them!Paul G.
