I had contract to pick up truck in Ventura, had to pick up in Santa Barbara instead. Ask if it could be dropped off in Ventura where I was supposed to pick it up and still be covered under the 5 days/800 miles special I originally paid for. I was told yes, but they lied! I was only given 460 miles instead ORIGINAL 800 miles I paid for!!
I had a reservation to pick up a small trailer at 3pm. At 4:30pm I had no choice but to rent a truck because the trailer was not available. I was told the trailer would be returned soon but I could not continue to wait. The truck could not be returned to a location near my home so I had to drive it back 40 miles. A $14 expense turned out to be a $125 expense.
Clearly expain pricing, and when you guarantee a customer the best rate you should actually do it.
The clerk was not very knowledgeable. He said i have to wait a week to get one way truck after reserving it. But they called me back right away saying one way truck is available the next day.
Well, when my mover noticed that there was no truck out on the drive of the size that I thought that I had ordered and my heart sunk and almost immediately your associate, David put in a call down the way and arranged for us to drive down there to pick it up. He saved the day and was calm in doing so dealing with an hysterical woman- my mover came all the way up from So Central LA that morning to help me out since my Santa Barbara driver came down with Covid! This comment is not about the location or the staff, it's about uhaul.com. The contactless service via a smart phone is poorly designed and it just makes everything more complicated. It's not ready for prime time, that's for sure.
I was overcharged
It was a simple, in-town rental (32 miles total), so it's not that much of a shock that nothing went wrong, but the team at U-haul made renting the van quick, efficient, and painless, and returning it took just a couple of minutes. I really couldn't ask for more.
Don't require a gas fill up if you're gonna charge the extra mile it takes to get to the gas station.
Much better Uhaul experience than last time.

Great customer service and very clean operation
I had made a reservation for 2:30, U-haul called me and said it wouldn't be ready until 5:30 at a different location. Then called at 3:40 and said it was ready in 15min at the original location. I would not recommend using U-haul for moving because it was not reliable and overpriced.
Fill tank. Half full looks like a way to ripoff the customer.
Were nice and professional. Couldn't assist with truck review app failing to load onsite. Could have had WiFi to allow for great connection so app link didn't expire like it did for me so I couldn't complete the truck review before driving away.
Location has limited street access; it is located on a crowded corner lot making entry/departure awkward. The store itself is crowded, making social distancing difficult at best.
Staff we're attentive, equipment was new/clean, service was commendable. Thanks!

Emphasize to all renters that IF THEY DON'T TURN IN THE EQUIPMENT ON TIME IT FUCKS SOMEONE ELSE'S MOVE UP. Also, do not tell renters over the phone that something is ready when it isn't. Also do not do the bullshit "$50 guarantee" on the website if you're not going to honor it. My stuff was not available when I reserved it for despite choosing the one that said it was confirmed/$50 guarantee.
Very good working people no doubt about that I was in a hurry and I needed to cancel and change day of reservation he canceled my reservation without me being there and make me the reservation for the next day Nice service I really need it I had an appointment thank you!
Just a place to plug in to charge my cell phone, or I missed it ???😆
Employee tried to blame me for the damage on the bumper and the crack in the windshield.Thankfully I took pictures and another employee pointed out that it was obvious that the damage was old.I have never experienced this before with all my rental history.I will NEVER use this location again Regards Sean Lisec
Check-in through iphone was excellent, and the service I received at both pick up and drop off were fantastic..
The tank was below 1/4 full. This causes the renter the need to fill it up once to use it, and yet again to return it at 1/4 , not less, ( for the discount of 17$). Inconvenient and guess work. Should be a FULL tank. Otherwise, great service!
Having heard so many complaints about UHaul the last time I needed a truck I was a bit skeptical. However, the price was shockingly competitive, the Santa Barbara facility was orderly and well run and the truck itself was clean, organized and in excellent mechanical condition.
The 2 gentleman who assisted me were a great help. This location was great. However, the initial place I was to pick up the trailer (2923 S Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401) was horrible. The equipment was inoperable and the representative their told me I had to call reservations to try and locate another trailer. Provided me no assistance.
The location told me it was a one way truck and I showed up and was told it was a round trip. Also, I told them I wanted the truck for 48 hours and they booked me for a shorter time. Very poor communication and charged me for more.

I rent over 300 uhauls a year from la to montery by far this is the number 1 location, they always have Phil out side helping everyone check in that our bringing uhauls back. Phil immediately cleans the uhauls front and back along with the windshields. Only other location that cleans 100% of the uhaul every time its returned is the morro bay location. It is really frustrating renting a truck and have the back be dirty people just cleaning the front doing enough to make it look liked it has been cleaned. Uhaul corporate should go to Santa Barbara location and see how they do everything and copy it exactly and have all the other locations run there business as this location does. If uhaul corporate is reading this do something about your app and website only works half of the time its junk every customer service rep that answers phones know this its sad that a corporation of your size is ok with crap literally. If it worked properly you would be able to cut down on all the calls going in to you. If there was another option to use at a comparable price in my area I would of left you guys along time ago over literally the hundreds of times app freezes or website does not react when your clicking on icons, won't let you do self check in with out agent on phone. Only thing you have going for you is prices and a couple of local locations like this one that actually cares about there reputation unlike corporate that obviously cares less by letting the app and website to continue to be on line just take it down would be a better solution.

I've used this Uhaul location at least 5 times, and every time things work very smoothly. Particularly, I'd like to say that George Barroga, the General Manager, has always done a great job with customer service and has gone out of his way to make things right. Thank you all so much!!!

I appreciated the telephone call to confirm the delivery date as it was incorrect was taken care of immediately. The driver to deliver the box and pick-up was extremely wonderful in every way.
The lady who helped me over the phone, Sharon Smith was exceptional. She was so nice and went above and beyond for me to get an answer I needed. Please make sure she gets kudos!
Every time I called with a question or to setup access, I was transferred and put on hold for a very long time. Once I was transferred four times, and after two hours, the agents hung up without help
You're company is one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. You messed my orders up more than 5 times for different things, and youre costumer service is a joke.
